Section 1194.21 Software Applications and Operating Systems - Detail Criteria Supporting features Remarks and explanations (a) When software is designed to run on a system that has a keyboard, product functions shall be executable from a keyboard where the function itself or the result of performing a function can be discerned textually. with Many of the controls can be navigated to and operated with the keyboard. However, a rating has been given for the following reasons: Users are unable to navigate between the panes or select items from the toolbars, such as Find/Change and Bold, although some of these functions are available in Pods or through shortcut keystrokes. It is not possible to select and align multiple graphic objects using the keyboard alone. Most drawing tasks are not possible using keyboard-only controls. Tab focus order in some of the Pods, such as Paragraph Designer and Character Designer, do not follow the reading order. Keyboard focus is switch back to the editor when attempting to select list items in the Category pods. Users are only able to cycle the tree elements in the Preferences dialog window with shortcut keystrokes and the items are out of order. Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 2 of 12

(b) Applications shall not disrupt or disable activated features of other products that are identified as accessibility features, where those features are developed and documented according to industry standards. Applications also shall not disrupt or disable activated features of any operating system that are identified as accessibility features where the application programming interface for those accessibility features has been documented by the manufacturer of the operating system and is available to the product developer. with FrameMaker does not disrupt or disable accessibility settings of the OS or documented assistive technology. However, some Windows accessibility features are not fully supported For example, the document editor does not support changes to cursor width.. For support of contrast please see 1194.21(g) (c) A well-defined on-screen indication of the current focus shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and focus changes. with There is a visual indication of focus for most controls in Adobe FrameMaker (2015 release), however, some controls do not have a visual indicator of focus. In addition, programmatic focus is not available on toolbar elements such as those in the Text Formatting and Object Property contexts. A visual indicator of focus is also not present on dropdown, checkboxes and radio button such as those in the Find/Change pod. Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 3 of 12

(d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available to Assistive Technology. When an image represents a program element, the information conveyed by the image must also be available in text. with Identity information for most user interface controls is provided with the following : Several form fields lack accessible names. For example, individual controls in the Text Formatting Bar do not provide identity, role, or state information. The Workspace select, and WYSIWYG View buttons do not provide identity, operation, and state information. Non-text content in the editor is not available to assistive technologies. The tree control in the preferences dialog does not support standard keyboard access and thus the assistive technology user may not be aware of the current selection. (e) When bitmap images are used to identify controls, status indicators, or other programmatic elements, the meaning assigned to those images shall be consistent throughout an application's performance. Images used to identify controls, status indicators and other programmatic elements are used consistently throughout the application. (f) Textual information shall be provided through operating system functions for displaying text. The minimum information that shall be made available is text content, text input caret location, and text attributes. Text information is available for text content in the editor and in dialog windows. (g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and color selections and other individual display attributes. with The pods within Adobe FrameMaker (2015 release) do inherit High Contrast settings. A rating of with exception has been given as the menu toolbar and initial navigation dialog window do not inherit the High Contrast settings. Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 4 of 12

(i) Color coding shall not be used as the only means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element. does not use color alone to convey information. (j) When a product permits a user to adjust color and contrast settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a range of contrast levels shall be provided. with The Adobe FrameMaker (2015 release) interface allows the user to adjust UI Brightness on dark or light schemes but may not provide a sufficient range of contrast levels and color selections for some users. supports large icons in the UI, in addition to regular sized icons, and users have an option to choose between colored and gray-scale icons. (k) Software shall not use flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements having a flash or blink frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz. does not contain flashing or blinking elements. (l) When electronic forms are used, the form shall allow people using Assistive Technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. with The Adobe FrameMaker (2015 release) interface allows keyboard access to most form fields. However, it is not always possible for assistive technology users to consistently identify field elements. For example, properties of the Find Text, and Change Text fields in the Find/Change panel are not identified to assistive technologies.
