Training Package Continuous Improvement Plan 2014-2015 Release 2, January 2015 Overview The MSA Training Package Continuous Improvement Plan for 2014-2015 has been informed by intelligence gathered by MSA over the previous three years from a variety of sources. These include research projects, workforce development activities, Environmental Scan research, on-line surveys, Training Package continuous improvement registers and industry engagement activities (such as industry meetings, TP forums, webinars, interviews, job analysis and professional development workshops). The MSA Training Package Continuous Improvement Plan for 2014-2015 focusses on responding to industry s requirements to address gaps in niche technical areas, extend STEM coverage and maintain regulatory compliance. The development work will address the following priorities identified for manufacturing skill development and VET reform: review existing manufacturing units of competency and develop new Assessment Requirements to ensure the units comply with the new TP Standards and meet industry requirements for robust and relevant assessment outcomes address skill gaps at a unit level to address emerging skill needs and support the level of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) required in technician/paraprofessional job roles review pathways within qualifications and across Training Packages to ensure skills portability is maximised and skill gaps are addressed undertake job analysis and develop units and Skill Sets to target specialised and cross-sector skill needs, upskilling to meet need for higher skills and emerging technologies ensure process efficiencies, innovation, quality assurance and supply change management is embedded in manufacturing qualifications, as well as management and leadership skills develop units of competency and qualifications that can better prepare learners for future work develop companion volume materials for all manufacturing Training Packages to assist implementation of change and ensure delivery outcomes that meet industry requirements. Notes 1. This plan replaces the previous MSA CIP 2011-2014. It covers the period August 2014 to December 2015. This plan will be updated approximately quarterly. 2. The 2014-2015 CIP includes the transition of all manufacturing Training Packages to the new format.
