v ITU Regional Development Forum 18 20 July 2018 At the Accra International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana DRAFT AGENDA 18 JULY 2018 The ITU Regional Development Forum on the theme ICT4SDGs: Towards the implementation of WTDC17 outcomes aims at sharing and discussing the achievements, experiences, work programs and partnerships amongst ITU Members and interested partners for effective implementation of World Telecommunication Development Conference. In particular, the Forum seeks to: Share best practices and past experiences in implementation of the ITU Africa Regional Initiatives 2014 2018, associated ITU programs, initiatives, partnerships and projects: Strengthening human and Institutional capacity building Strengthening and harmonizing policy and regulatory frameworks for the integration of African telecommunication/ict markets Development of Broadband access and adoption of broadband Spectrum management and transition to digital broadcasting Building confidence and security in the use of telecommunications/icts Discuss the following ITU Africa Regional Initiatives (2018 2022) in relation to the Buenos Aires Action Plan (BaAP) and ITU strategic Plan and seek partnership opportunities for their implementation: Building digital economies and fostering innovation in Africa(RI 1) Promotion of emerging broadband technologies(ri2) Building trust and security in the use of telecommunications/information and communication technology(ri3) Strengthening human and institutional capacity building(ri4) Management and monitoring of the radio frequency spectrum and transition to digital broadcasting(ri5) The Forum will have detailed Working group breakout sessions to focus on each particular regional initiative to look at Expected results and outline the partners concerned, and discuss possible projects and their funding. 09:00 09:30 09:30 10:00 Registration of participants and provision of forum and information materials Welcome Remarks: Mr. Brahima Sanou, Director, Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), ITU Mr. Houlin Zhao, Secretary General, ITU
