Proliphix EPA-60 Installation Guide

Rev 1.2 Page 2 of 5 Installation CAUTION THE EPA-60 SHOULD ONLY BE POWERED WITH THE PROLIPHIX POWER SUPPLY INCLUDED WITH THE EPA-60. DO NOT POWER THE EPA-60 WITH ANY OTHER POWER SUPPLY. IF CONNECTING ETHERNET ATTACHED DEVICES OTHER THAN PROLIPHIX DEVICES SKIP STEP 4 AND GO TO STEP 5 BELOW. Find a suitable location for the EPA-60. Preferably near the Network switch or router. These instructions assume that CAT5 cable has been run between the thermostats and the EPA-60 locations. If not, install the CAT5 cable first. Up to six Proliphix devices can be attached to the EPA-60. The EPA can also connect non Proliphix devices. Therefore used as a patch panel. 1. Remove EPA-60 from packaging. 2. Mount the EPA-60 with 1 inch screws provided. If being installed on wallboard the anchors may be necessary. 3. Strip the end of the CAT5 cable sheathing approximately 1 ½ inches. The other end of this CAT5 cable should be connected to a Proliphix device. Untwist the wire pairs. DO NOT STRIP INDIVIDUAL WIRES. 4. For attaching Proliphix Devices to the EPA-60 - Using a punch down tool, punch each wire to one of the EPA-60 punch down terminal pins as shown in the Figure 1. Make sure the appropriate wires are placed in the correct pin on the EPA-60 punch down terminal. 5. For attaching NON-Proliphix devices to the EPA-60 - If one or more EPA-60 ports are to be connected to non-proliphix devices, then do NOT punch the following wires to the EPA-60 punch down terminal for those devices. Cut these wires back to the CAT5 sheathing. White-Blue and Blue White-Brown and Brown 6. Match the EPA-60 CAT5 jack port(s) to the corresponding punch down terminal port(s). Plug a CAT5 patch cable from the EPA-60 CAT5 Jack port(s) to a router or Ethernet switch. The patch cable should be a straight through cable. 7. Do not apply power until the Proliphix devices are attached to the other end of the CAT5 cable(s). Plug the 24VDC power supply into the EPA-60 which supplies power to the Proliphix devices attached to the EPA-60.
