Hardware Announcement April 11, 2006 IBM Infoprint 5400 Model F06 A new mid-range, line impact dot matrix printer for DBCS printing Overview IBM Infoprint 5400 Model F06 is a mid-range, double-byte character set (DBCS) line impact dot matrix printer in the Infoprint 5400 printer family. This model is released only for Japan as the higher performance model of 5400-L06, which will continue selling at the same time. Shuttle mechanism technology enables high-quality DBCS printing in the speed of 680 lines per minute (LPM) (draft mode), while acoustic noise is successfully reduced for office environment use. The doors on both the left and right hand sides make paper removal easier and will also eliminate restrictions on product placement. Infoprint 5400-F06 is equipped with 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface and Parallel interface as standard features. In LAN environments, the embedded HTTP server can provide some Web pages for device configuration and status monitoring. Since twinax interface is not supported, the legacy requirements should be fulfilled with 5400-L06. Infoprint 5400-F06 supports Telnet5250E protocol over Ethernet interface. It also supports line printer daemon (LPD) to print IBM 5577 or ESC/P from LPD clients. This device, as well as 5400-L06, complies with ENERGY STAR requirements and the Law on Promoting Green Purchasing in Japan. Print speed Infoprint 5400-F06 has several print speeds and modes (for example, Draft 680 lines per minute (LPM), DP 570 LPM, NLQ 410 LPM) for adjusting to various print-form or print-quality requirements.
