So building a great compact camera means designing it around usability and a truly outstanding lens. Your Olympus XZ-1 was built this way: its 1:1.8-2.5 izuiko DIGITAL lens is not only incredibly bright for a lens in a truly compact camera, it matches standards you normally only find in SLRs. Simply speaking, it takes great pictures easily, even when the light is low. The large high-sensitivity sensor and the speedy processor do the rest to make the XZ-1 a super- light and compact camera with performance that right up there with the big guys. FUNCTION PICTURE QUALITY: THE HEART AND SOUL. Simply put, the 1:1.8 spec means it has a bigger opening than anything you normally find in a super - compact camera. So you can take pictures with very little available light without using the flash and therefore capture the atmosphere in low-light situations. The XZ-1 really fills a gap here, making it not only the camera of choice for aspiring photography lovers who do not want to carry heavy stuff around, but a second camera for professionals as well. 2

ART FILTERS: EXPRESS YOURSELF. Artists take reality and uses it irreverently as their canvas. XZ-1 makes it easier than ever to express your photographic vision: simply apply one of the six art filters to create pop art, grainy black and white images or dramatic landscapes worthy of Hollywood. FUNCTION LIVE CONTROL: SHOW, DON T TELL. Technology right where you need it: we designed your XZ-1 to be operated by intuition. But photography has more possibilities than most people know. So the XZ-1 shows them: on the incredible 3-inch OLED monitor you see every little change in the picture settings live meaning you know beforehand what your picture will look like afterwards. So instead of fiddling with technology, your XZ-1 lets you think about the ideas for your picture. Which is, in our opinion, the way it should be. 5 THE LENS RING: FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION. Making a camera intuitive to handle means putting controls where you expect them. Many parameters of the XZ-1 can be set by a ring around the lens, which is how we all controlled the aperture of our analogue SLRs for ages, and, we may add, a very convenient place. But this got lost when digital compacts took over. So now you can set parameters like shutter speed and aperture value (that s the f-number) the easiest way. And, yes, there is a statement in this one: we made a camera that behaves like a camera so even though this is the camera of the future, you will feel right at home. 6

ACCESSORIES ACCESSORIES: ON TOP OF ALL THAT. Out of the box, the XZ-1 comes with an endless list of features and possibilities, but true to its aspiration, it behaves like a system camera in many respects.
