BUSINESS Resolution #016-17 (Mercier, Lacelle) THAT the July 21, 2017 MHC Meeting minutes be adopted as circulated. Carried. - Archaeological Dig - Art Shaw Mr. Shaw explained that the archaeological dig held in Lyndhurst went well. They are still receiving pledges for the property to date. The report from the dig will be created over the winter. The artifacts derived from the dig will be held at the Delta Mill. - 2018 Budget - Amendments The Committee spoke about the supplies for archives budget item. Ms. Mallory will update the document before submission to council to include: Archives Supplies - $500 Training and Development $1500 Advertising - $600 Resolution #017-17 (Mercier, Ross) THAT the MHC recommends that Council approve the proposed 2018 MHC budget as amended. Carried. - Planning and Development - Junior Planning Assistant Duties and Responsibilities - Quadri Adebayo Mr. Adebayo explained the work he is undertaking as it relates to the Committee including: * The Heritage Grant Program * Heritage Mapping

Presentation is attached. - Consultation with Library Board - Archives Mr. Sly provided an update on his meeting with the CAO regarding the placement of the archives. Ms. Mallory spoke about the meeting between staff and the architect scheduled for next Friday October 13, 2017. She recommended that the Memorandum of Understanding be revisited and clarified. - Potential Designation Mr. Mercier spoke about a potential heritage designation of a cottage on Pitchpine Island. The Committee will check to see if it is on the register. - Springfield House Working Group - Update Mr. Mercier stated that the group hasn't met recently. The Committee spoke about the figure spent annually on heat and hydro. Mr. Mercier spoke about the energy audit being conducted on the building. - Ecological Health Seminar - October 17, 2017 - Marnie Ms. Ross spoke about the Ecological Health Seminar and education program scheduled for October 17, 2017 from 9:00am - Noon at the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Office. She requested the attendance of an MHC representative. Ms. Lacelle will attend the seminar. - Archaeological Assessment Criteria - Role of MHC Mr. Sly spoke about the discovery of human remains on one of the islands. He inquired whether the Heritage Committee has a role in deciding when an archaeological assessment is required. Ms. Mallory spoke about the Provincial guidelines that dictate when an assessment is required and the factors (i.e. near water).
Heritage Committee Minutes - October 6, 2017 Page 4 of 21 Mr. Sly suggested that the MHC is privy to unregistered cemeteries that should be taken into consideration when determining whether an assessment is required. - Cemetery Access and Maintenance Mr. Sly spoke about his inquiry to Mr. D'Mello as it relates to Cemetery maintenance and access. The Committee spoke about first contacting the property owners and begin a dialogue and subsequently write a letter to all cemetery owners that are listed on the municipal register. - Interpretive Sign Unveiling - October 7, 2017 Ms. Webb provided information regarding the sign unveiling ceremony scheduled for October 7, 2017. 5. INFORMATION ITEMS - How Does Heritage Fit with Planning Seminar Two members will attend the seminar on November 3, 2017 at the Arthur Child Heritage Museum. - Mallorytown Coachouse Mr. Mercier spoke about the Mallorytown Coachouse wanting to acquire the culled glass from the glass factory that currently resides at the Springfield House. 6.
