Dwnlad infrmatin The latest versin f Trimble Survey GNSS Firmware can be dwnladed frm the Trimble website within the supprt page f each supprted receiver. 1. G t www.trimble.cm 2. Click n the Supprt & Training link in the blue banner at the tp f the page. 3. Click n Supprt A-Z List n the drp-dwn menu. 4. Find yur receiver n the list f supprted prducts. Hint: Click n the assciated first character f yur receiver type. All survey receivers full under T fr Trimble XX Receiver. 5. Click n the link fr yur receiver type. 6. Click n the Dwnlads link. 7. The latest firmware versin shuld be lcated at the tp f the page. 8. Click n the link t the latest versin, in this case versin 4.71. 9. Yur brwser will begin dwnlading the latest Winflash utility installer that cntains yur firmware. 10. At this pint yu can save the Winflash installer t a lcal flder r click n Run (Open) t begin installing the utility. Installing Winflash utility At this pint yu will cntinue frm the last step abve r if yu have saved the dwnladed Winflash utility, yu must navigate t the flder that cntains the file and click n WFC-Rx-5x-v464v471.exe. 1. The Winflash installer will start. Click n the Next buttn. 2. Read the License Agreement and click n Yes t accept the terms. 3. At this pint the Winflash installer will try t detect any previus versins f Winflash n yur system a. If the Winflash installer detected a previus versin f Winflash n yur cmputer, it will display the current Winflash flder in use. Click n Next. b. If the Winflash installer des nt detect a previus versin f Winflash n yur cmputer, it will ask yu t accept the default flder fr Winflash. If yu d nt want t use the default lcatin then: i. Click n the Brwse buttn and navigate t the desired flder lcatin yu wuld like t use. ii. Click Ok t accept the new lcatin. iii. Click n Next t cntinue. iv. Select the Prgram Flder lcatin fr the prgram icn, and then click n Next. 4. Winflash installer will nw install all required files t run the Winflash utility. 5. The Winflash installer will nw ask if yu want t register Winflash. Yu have three ptins: a. Register via the Internet (web access required) b. Register by Fax r Mail. Selecting this ptin will pen a dcument. Cmplete the dcument and fax r mail t Trimble. c. Register Later. 6. The Winflash installatin is nw cmplete. http://www.trimble.cm Page 4
Lading new Firmware Use the Winflash utility t install the latest firmware n yur Trimble GNSS receiver. 1. Click n the Winflash icn added t the Start menu n yur cmputer. 2. Click n the Device type (receiver grup) fr yur receiver type. 3. Click n the PC serial prt drp dwn menu t select the serial prt yur receiver is cnnected t. 4. Click n the Next buttn. 5. Frm the Operatins list bx, click n the Lad GPS sftware peratin. 6. Click n the Next buttn. 7. Click n the Available Sftware fr yu receiver and the firmware yu just dwnladed. If yu have installed firmware befre, the firmware versins are still available in the listing. 8. Click n the Next buttn. 9. The next screen shws the current settings and actins t be taken by the Winflash utility. 10. Click n the Finish buttn. 11. Winflash will nw lad the latest firmware nt yur receiver. This prcedure can take several minutes. If the firmware lads crrectly, then click n the Exit buttn. http://www.trimble.cm Page 5
Lading the USB Driver This versin f Winflash nw includes the USB driver necessary t cnnect the Trimble R10 and Trimble R7/R5 Survey receiver with USB t yur cmputer. Yur PC will assign a COM prt as yur USB cnnectin. Once yu have installed Winflash, the USB Driver installer is fund in the Prgram Files\Cmmn Files\Trimble\USB Driver 1 flder. Fllw the steps belw t install the USB Driver. 1. Using Windws Explrer (r equivalent), navigate t the Prgram Files\Cmmn Files\Trimble\USB Driver 1 flder n yur cmputer. 2. Duble click n the Win7_USB_Installer.exe file in the flder. A Device Driver Installatin Wizard dialg bx will pen. Nte: If yu are running Windws 7 64-bit, yu will see a secnd dialg bx, which autmatically lads the 64-bit USB driver. 3. Click n the Next buttn if the installatin wizard t cntinue. 4. The USB Driver will install and present yu will and dialg shwing the USB drivers that were installed. Click the Finish buttn. 5. The USB Driver is nw installed. Nte: The Windws 7 64-bit USB driver will cmplete its installatin. 6. Plug the USB cable int the USB prt f the R7 r R5, and then plug the ther end int yur cmputer. Yur cmputer will find the device and assign a COM Prt fr the USB cnnectin.
