Calculated Fields Archive your data base Start MS Access and open a winsight Access database. Display the CSYSUTIL table (which is usually hidden) by selecting 24 23 File Options Current Database Navigation Options button Check the Show Hidden Objects box 22

Calculated Fields Double-click the CSYSUTIL table to open it. Find the COLUMNN entry, note its current NextID number (you will use this number in a few steps), and increment that number by 1. In this example, change 1039 to 1040 Save your change and close the CSYSUTIL table. 25 23

Calculated Fields Open the COLUMNN table and copy a row that is in the same table you want, with the same data type. For example, if you're adding a text field to Element, copy 'ProjOff'. Scroll to the bottom and paste into the empty row. Immediately update the ColumnID (use the value from step 4) and ColName field (enter a unique name, using A-Z,a-z,0-9 only, no reserved words). You won't be able to save until these two fields are updated. Edit the SQLL field and/or Alias fields as desired. The SQLL field is where you enter the desired calculation IIF statement can be used as if/then, e.g., to ensure that denominator is greater than 0 27 26 Remember to use Lre instead of Eac 28 24

Calculated Fields Insert the new field into a view in winsight. If the dataset won't open, the SQL is invalid, at least in the context in which winsight is trying to use it.
