Transferring Questions from GeorgiaVIEW Vista to Desire2Learn using Respondus The following explains how to retrieve questions from GeorgiaVIEW Vista using Respondus. 1. From the Start tab in Respondus, select WebCT Vista/CE 8.x from the Current Personality drop-down list. 2. Go to the Retrieval & Reports tab. Figure 1 - WebCT/CE 8.x Personality 3. 4. Select -add new server- from the Vista Server drop-down list. Figure 3 - Vista Server 5. The Add New Server Settings window appears. Click Next. Figure 4 - Add New Server Settings Page 2 of 16
6. The Preconfigured Server Settings Wizard window appears. 6.1. Enter a name of your choice to label the server in the first field. For example: GeorgiaVIEW Vista Server. 6.2. Enter your NetID in the User name field and your NetID password in the Password field. 6.3. Optionally, you may check the Save my User Name and Password on this computer option. You will not be prompted to enter your credentials every time you connect to the server to publish or retrieve questions and assessments. 6.4. Click Next. 8. The Preconfigured Server Settings Wizard confirms the addition of the server. Click Finish. Figure 7 - Added Server Settings 9. From the Group or Section drop-down list, select the GeorgiaVIEW Vista section/course that contains the questions. Figure 8 - Group or Section 10. Under Select a quiz / survey or category, choose Quiz or Category. In our example, we are selecting Category to retrieve questions from a category in the Question Database. Page 4 of 16
11. Select the Category (or Quiz) from the course by using the drop-down list. Figure 9 - Select a Quiz / Survey or Category 12. Enter a name for the Respondus file that will receive the questions in the Enter a name for the new file field. Figure 10 - Enter a Name for the New File 13. Click the Retrieve button to download the questions from your GeorgiaVIEW Vista course into Respondus. 14. The File Saved prompt appears. Click OK. Figure 11 - File Saved Page 5 of 16
15. Once the questions are in Respondus, the Status shows as Completed. Figure 12 Retrieve with Completed Status The following explains how to publish questions retrieved from GeorgiaVIEW Vista to Desire2Learn using Respondus. 1. 5. Select Desire2Learn from the Current Personality drop-down list. Figure 16 - Desire2Learn Personality 6. The following Respondus prompt appears. 7.1. Select Replace Current File to convert the existing file to the Desire2Learn format. 7.2. Or click Save as New File to preserve a Respondus file in the GeorgiaVIEW Vista format. 18. Go to Create/Replace Assessment Type and select either Create new quiz under Quiz or Create new section under Question Library Section. 20. When the publishing process is completed successfully, click Finish. 21. You may close Respondus. Figure 31 - Closing Respondus 22. A prompt to save changes to your Respondus file appears. The following explains how to view the published questions in Desire2Learn. 1. Enter your Desire2Learn course and go to the Quizzes tool. 2. The Manage Quizzes screen appears.
