ABOUT THIS SEMINAR AND INSTRUCTORS About This Seminar Whole Building Technical Commissioning of New Construction (BSC) is the process of verifying in new construction, all of the subsystems for mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, building envelopes, interior systems, cogeneration, utility plants, sustainable systems, lighting, wastewater, controls, and building security to achieve the owner's project requirements as intended by the building owner and as designed by the building architects and engineers. NEBB s process is contained in the NEBB/ANSI Standard 110 Whole Building Technical Commissioning of New Construction which is one of the primary references for this seminar. The commissioning process main goal is to improve a project from the design phase through post construction and occupancy. Instructors Jim Bochat Jim Bochat President of Commissioning Concepts, has been involved in the Arizona Engineering and Construction industry for over forty years. His experience includes Mechanical Design, Mechanical Construction, Controls, Test & Balance, Commissioning and Retro Commissioning. Jim is a former NEBB President. He is a Life Member of ASHRAE and serves on the GPC-30, GL1.2 and PMP Project Committee. He has been a NEBB Certified Professional since 1974 and has co-authored several standards regarding Commissioning for NEBB, ASHRAE and ABBA. Jim received NEBB s George Hightower Award for his distinguished service and significant contributions to the success of NEBB and the HVAC industry. Stephen Wiggins Stephen Wiggins is an Associate Partner at Newcomb & Boyd. He is the past President of NEBB and former chairman of NEBB s BSC committee. He has more than 30 years of experience in Building Systems Commissioning. He has been working in the built environment since 1975. Stephen owned a mechanical and electrical company for eight years. Prior to that he worked for the United States Air Force at base level and headquarters AFCESA as the commissioning and retrocommissioning expert. He has master mechanical and electrical contractor licenses and is a co-author of NEBB s Design Phase Commissioning Handbook.

CERTIFICATION AND EXAM PROCESS: A STEPPED APPROACH Those who desire to achieve the BSC CP certification and who want to sit for the two exams must be approved certification Candidates and pay all associated certification fees BEFORE sitting for the exams. For optimum success, allow ample time for the application review process and self-study time. Please begin the certification application process as soon as possible. 1. Applicants must meet the BSC CP pre-requisite /Eligibility requirements before requesting the BSC CP Application for Candidacy. To review the pre-requisite /Eligibility requirements, visit http://www.nebb.org/ assets/1/7/2018_nebb_individual_certification_pre-req_-_eligibility_policy_-_amended-_4.3.18.pdf 2. To obtain the BSC CP certification Application for Candidacy and information packet, email certification@nebb.org. A. The pre-requisites/eligibility requirements must be met prior to submitting the BSC CP Application for Candidacy. B. The BSC CP Application for Candidacy processing fee must be paid prior to approval. 3. To allow ample time for application review, acceptance into the BSC CP certification program and studying, Applicants must submit their BSC CP Applications for Candidacy on or before Tuesday, September 4, 2018. 4. BSC CP Exams A. The BSC CP certification requires two exams: a process management exam and a technical exam that test the knowledge, engineering application and field testing skills required to properly manage retro-commissioning of existing buildings. i. BSC CP Procedural Standards Exam (2 hours) 1. 80-question written exam: open-book, multiple choice format Ii. BSC CP Technical Exam (4 hours) 1. 100-question written exam: open-book, multiple choice format B. Candidates have two options for taking the BSC CP exams i. Paper-based Exam 1. Paper-based exams are proctored and delivered on BSC Exam Day, Thursday, October 17, 2018 2. BSC CP paper-based exams take 7 to 10 business days to process, score and for the Candidate to receive their results. 3. Approved certification Candidates will be invoiced for the BSC CP paper-based Written Exams. 4. BSC CP exams must be paid for in full prior to BSC CP Exam Day Ii. Online Exam at a Kryterion Test Center Location Near You 1. Instead of taking the paper-based exam on BSC CP Exam Day, Candidates may choose to schedule their exams at a Kryterion Test Center in their hometown at a time convenient for them after the seminar. 2. Candidates will receive their exam scores immediately upon completion of the exam. This option allows for additional study time.
Iii. Exam Payment 1. All facets of the BSC CP certification application and exam application process must be completed and all fees paid prior to sitting for the BSC CP exams. C. Profiles in Kryterion i. Regardless of whether the Candidate chooses the paper-based or Kryterion online exam option, all Candidates are required to set up a profile on Kryterion in advance of sitting for the two BSC CP exams. 1. Instructions on the process will be sent via email upon acceptance into the BSC CP certification program. 5. BSC CP Certification Fees A. Application for Candidacy fees and exam fees are separate from seminar fees, publications or any training-related items. B. All exam-related fees are final but can be transferrable. C. Below is a listing of applicable BSC CP certification fees. i. NEBB Affiliated/Non-Affiliated non-refundable BSC CP application fee: $100.00 Ii. NEBB BSC CP Procedural Standards Exam fee: $350.00 Iii. NEBB BSC CP Technical Exam fee: $450.00 D. Once the Candidate passes all the exams, he/she is required to complete the NEBB BSC CP Application for Certification to finalize the certification. Additional fees include: i. BSC CP Certification: $50.00 Ii. BSC CP Certificate: $30.00 6. Success with certification comes with dedicated self-study and preparation. BSC CP Candidates are encouraged to purchase and reference the following recommended readings for at-home studying in preparation for exams.
