Cisco UCS Runs on Intel Xeon Processors UCSAAT Length: 5 days Format: Lecture/Lab Why Firefly We are passionate about the service we deliver, from expert-led classrooms to virtual experiences and state-of-the-art remote lab access. Firefly s heritage in education and Data Center technologies ensures a consistently high level of customer satisfaction scores. Firefly instructors are industry practitioners, and leverage this experience to blend formal education with hands-on training and customized laboratories to deliver a highly interactive and immersive course. This course includes coverage of Cisco UCS Manager version 2.2 for B and C-Series Servers, UCS Manager 2.5 for M-Series and UCS Manager 3.0 for UCS Mini and features additional content not in the standard version of the course on networking design and operations, including a discussion on integrating Cisco UCS with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure, that customers need to successfully integrate UCS into their environments. Course Description This five-day, accelerated, hands-on course focuses on Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) implementation and design in preparation for Cisco DCUCI Exam 642-999 and DCUCD Exam 642-998. Starting with an overview of Cisco UCS features, hardware and software components, and Unified Fabric architecture, the course teaches the Channel Partner, pre- and post-sales system engineers, Data Center administrators, technicians, and architects to design, configure, implement, and manage Cisco UCS solutions on contemporary hypervisors, operating systems, and applications (including VMware, Hyper-V, and Red Hat KVM, among others). It teaches how to design and virtualize server properties with the goal of enabling simple and rapid mobility of service profiles between physical servers. In the lab, students will configure mobile service profiles, upgrade firmware, configure and design multi-tenant management models, and enable high availability and fault tolerance, as well as perform back-ups and restore system configurations. They will design solutions, given variables, and use the built-in and operating system reconnaissance tools. They will learn to design, install, and configure VMware VM-FEX and VM-FEX Universal Pass-Through Mode with the Cisco Virtual Interface Card on the Cisco UCS infrastructure. Prerequisites Understanding of server system design and architecture Familiarity with Ethernet and TCP/IP Networking Familiarity with LAN/SAN Technology Familiarity with the Fibre Channel Protocol Understanding of Cisco Enterprise Data Center Architecture Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (VMware vsphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat KVM, Citrix Xen) If the student is pursuing CCNP, then CCNA Data Center is recommended Who Should Attend This course is designed for Channel Partners who need to accelerate exam preparation and for anyone who is preparing for CCNP certification. It prepares students for exam 642-999, Implementing Cisco Data Center Unified Computing, and Exam 642-998, Designing Cisco Data Center Unified Computing. Upon passing these exams, the student will be a certified Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support and Design Specialist and will be able to design, configure, implement, and manage Cisco UCS environments. 2016 Firefly Education, LLC. Learning Objectives Describe how to install and provision Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers in standalone mode, install Cisco R-Series racks, provision the Cisco Integrated Management Controller, update server firmware, and install operating systems such as VMware ESXi. Explain how to implement high availability, manage the Cisco UCS, provision administrator access, and maintain Cisco UCS B-Series servers. Explain how to install and provision Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers in the Cisco UCS 5108 Blade Chassis. Describe the characteristics of the different models of Cisco I/O modules (IOMs) and fabric interconnects and how to install them. Describe the different connectivity topologies and options and how the Cisco NX-OS Software treats Ethernet and Fibre Channel traffic. Become acquainted with generation 2 hardware and the recently introduced features. Explain how to design and configure the connectivity of Cisco UCS with the LAN and SAN infrastructure in your Data Center and how to provision servers by leveraging reusable pools, policies, and templates that allow for rapid provisioning and consistency of policy. Explain how to implement virtualization features, unique to Cisco UCS, that improve performance and manageability. Describe how to evaluate the Data Center solution design process, including Data Center challenges, architecture, and components. Explain how to assess the requirements and performance characteristics of the Data Center computing solutions. Explain how to size and prepare a physical deployment plan for Cisco UCS C-Series and B-Series solutions per requirements. Employ design steps to create scalable, computing solutions for a given set of requirements. Create the Cisco UCS server deployment design for the given solution examples. Describe the feature enhancements which Intel has added to the processor and chipset.
