17. Firmware Upgrade User can upgrade the firmware directly using the Web or Console. Firmware name (current) and applied model: V3K31257_en.all:Vigor 3300B+ 2.5.7 English version. V3K32257_cn.all:Vigor 3300 and Vigor 3300V 2.5.7 Simplified Chinese version. 17.1 Web Allow the user to upgrade the firmware through the Web. The procedure can be performed from LAN or WAN if only you can login the router. Firmware Upgrade Usage example Figure 17-1. 9. The router will automatically switch to the System Status page after rebooting. Now you will find that the firmware has been upgraded to Simplified Chinese version. But the pattern at left above still shows English version. This is because the browser's cache keeps the previous pattern. So the cache must be cleared. Clear the cache (IE) - 1 Figure 17-10. 10. Close the primary page, and restart the web browser and login the router again, you will see the pattern at left above has been updated. 17.2 Console Figure 17-16. When you can not enter the router via Web, you can upgrade the firmware through the Console. It must be performed from a PC within the same subnet. Firmware Upgrade Usage Example Suppose the user who can not enter the router via Web must upgrade the firmware. The LAN IP of Vigor 3300 is 192.168.1.1, the IP address of the PC connected to Vigor 3300 is 192.168.1.10. The firmware named V3K32255_cn.all is located in the root directory C:\. 1. Open Hyper Terminal on the PC (for relevant settings please refer to the Login chapter). Power on Vigor 3300. Now the router is in Bootloader mode and a 5-second countdown timer is starting. Before the time down to zero, press Enter and fill in the LAN IP of Vigor 3300 (default is 192.168.1.1). Then press Enter to switch to prepare downloading (Bootloader) stage. Figure 17-17. Note: In fact, the countdown timer is less than 5 seconds. If you miss it, please power cycle Vigor 3300 again. 2. First, please make sure from the PC if you can ping LAN IP 192.168.1.1, then perform the following process. Figure 17-18. Ping status 3. On the PC (192.168.1.10) enter the CLI from Start > All Programs > Accessories. Type c:\. To make sure the firmware named V3K32255_cn.all is located in the root directory of C:\. Type tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put c:\v3k2255_en.all, the firmware can be downloaded to the Vigor 3300 which has been in bootloader mode. Figure 17-19. 4. Now in the Console you will find the following information. When Updating flash block at bfxxxxxx appears, it means the firmware is under downloading. Figure 17-20. Updating flash block 5. When set flash0_0 "780000:800000:general" appears, it means the firmware downloading has been completed. The router will reboot itself and you will see the Firmware version: V2.5.5.
