GX-V Virtual GMS Server / Citrix Xen Hypervisor This document assumes that you ve already installed the Citrix Xen client and have used it to add a server, if needed. If you are not using Citrix Xen Client 5.6.100, your screens may appear different than the ones in this document. 1 Deploy the GX-V OVF template Before this point, you ll have downloaded the OVF template file from Silver Peak s Support portal. The OVA file is a.tar file containing the OVF template and other required content. NOTE: If Internet Explorer saved the template as a winrar (.tar) file, the be sure to chagne the extension back to.ova before using the file. a. From the Tools menu, select Virtual Appliance Tools > Import Appliance. The Select an Appliance for Import screen appears. b. Click Browse and navigate to the.ova file you ve downloaded. c. Quick Start Guide 2 Power on the GX-V Virtual Appliance a. In the left panel, select the newly installed virtual machine, and review the data in the General tab. b. After the power sequences on, the console displays the mgmt0 IP address for the virtual GMS server in other words, it s the GMS server s IP address. If your environment is not configured for DHCP, then you ll need to run the following script, and assign your own variables. Use admin for both the username and the password. Quick Start Guide 3 Configure the Virtual GMS Server Be aware that it may take up to two minutes for your PC to get an IP address and open the initial configuration page. a. Open any browser and enter the mgmt0 IP address displayed by the console in the previous step. The opening page appears. b. Click Configure GMS Appliance. The password prompt appears. Set the following parameters according to your network settings: Hostname DHCP IP Address Netmask Default Gateway Primary DNS Server Secondary DNS Server Domain name Troubleshooting Time Zone GMS Release Selection Troubleshooting Password Configuration [not required] System Restart Enter the GX-V hostname. Limited to length of 24 characters. By default, DHCP is enabled. IP address for the GX-V s mgmt0 physical interface Netmask for the GX-V s mgmt0 physical interface The mgmt0 next-hop IP address IP address of your domain name server [optional] Alternate IP address of your domain name server For example, msn.com. For verifying the GX-V-s network connectivity Select one of the following: Manual to enter a specific time NTP to get the time from a specified NTP server Partitioned drive accommodates one active and five inactive software images, each with its own most recent database For verifying the GX-V s network connectivity. This password is only for this initial configuration wizard, not for client software configuration or log in. These options Shutdown, Restart, and Reboot are provided for maintenance and troubleshooting. e. Click Apply. Quick Start Guide 4 Launch or install the Silver Peak GMS client You can access a GMS client in either of the two following ways: install a stand-alone GMS client into a self-contained directory (an installation wizard guides you through the installation steps), or launch a quicker, installation-free GMS client that leverages locally installed Java on your PC. If you don t have the required version of Java installed, the program directs you to the appropriate download page. a. Return to the GMS Server Home Page. Select either Install GMS Client or Launch GMS Client. If you re doing a full installation, you arrive at the Client Configuration screen. b. In this screen, inter the GMS server s IP address (or its hostname as defined on your DNS server), and click OK. The Login screen appears. PN 200569-001 Rev B» R4.4 9 of 12

If any GMS configuration tasks need completion, a Getting Started window appears. If any tasks need addressing, they are highlighted in red. Quick Start Guide 5 Install the License Key To continue, you must install the License Key. a. From the menu bar, select GMS Administration > License Management. The License Configuration window appears. b. Cut and paste the license key into the field and click Apply. The GX serial number updates. GX-V Virtual GMS Server / Citrix Xen Hypervisor 6 To access the GMS client as needed To start the GMS client, select it from the Windows Programs directory or the Quick Launch bar. The Login screen appears. a. Enter the default username and password: admin / admin b. If a Windows Security Alert display, select Unblock. The GMS client dashboard appears. If you have trouble accessing the Login screen or getting to the next step, you may have mistyped during configuration.
