Microsoft automatically converts colour codes into their preferred combination. These RGB codes were produced in Microsoft Word by typing in the Adobe CMYK values to the colour palette. Logo Colours The TRIUMF logo should only be single-coloured in: TRIUMF Blue (Pantone 293 PC) Pantone Warm Gray 10 PC Black White (eample shows on black background) The logo should appear on a white background or against a background that provides sufficient contrast and readability. On dark backgrounds, the logo should be White to ensure contrast. Noninterference Zone The noninterference zone (shaded area in the figures below) around the logo should be maintained; no tet or graphics is permitted in that zone. Tagline The tagline Canada s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics should never be reworded or capitalized. When appropriate, the French version is also used Laboratoire national canadien pour la recherche en physique nucléaire et en physique des particules. This should never be translated differently. When used in conjunction with the logo, the tagline should be placed to the right (outside the noninterference zone) of the logo in two or three lines, either left aligned or right aligned, never centered. The height of the tagline should be the same as the height of the word mark TRIUMF in the logo (see figures below). TRIUMF Style Guide Images Images should not be bounded by a bo or borders of any type Special effects (e.g. drop-shadow, feathering etc.) should not be applied to images Caption Caption for the image should be placed at the bottom or at the right of the image Caption should be left-justified Caption tet should be in a different font from the rest of the body tet If the body tet is in a serif font, then the image caption should be sans-serif If the body tet is in a sans-serif font, then the image caption should be serif Caption placed at the right should be left-justified and not eceed the height of the image Caption placed at the bottom should be leftjustified, and aligned with the width of the image Draft 1.5 September 27, 2010 5
Other Elements TRIUMF TRIUMF should always be written in all capitalized letters, never as Triumf or triumf. Address Formal address should be written in the following format: TRIUMF 4004 Wesbrook Mall Vancouver, BC V6T 2A3 Canada Stylized address may be written in the following format: 4004 Wesbrook Mall Vancouver BC Canada V6T 2A3 Phone Number Digits in a phone number are separated using periods, not brackets or dashes. 604.222.1047 Web & Email Addresses Web and email addresses should not be italicized or underlined. A different tet colour may be chosen to give emphasis (e.g. www.triumf.ca or you@triumf.ca). Bullets Bulleted lists should have round bullets. Draft 1.5 September 27, 2010 6
Grammar & Tet Style for Reports The Additional Style Guide contains grammar and word usage to be used for major reports such as the Biennial Scientific Report and the Annual Funding Reports. Funding Acknowledgements TRIUMF s official statement for funding acknowledgement is: TRIUMF s core operations are supported via a contribution from the federal government through the National Research Council Canada; the Government of British Columbia provides building capital funds.
