Planning work sheet As the customer, you are required to provide the IBM service representatives with information about these work sheets so they can set up the IBM System Storage Productivity Center (SSPC) server. If you do not provide this information, it will delay the time it takes to set up the SSPC server. SSPC server information As part of the SSPC planning, select the rack position. The position in the rack is identified by an Electrical Industries Association (EIA) number. The SSPC has a height of one EIA, referred to as 1U. Select a location in the rack that allows enough space for hardware components that might be installed at a future date. A keyboard and mouse with Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectors are required for the initial setup of the SSPC. A video display is also required. You can install an optional keyboard video mouse (KVM) unit by ordering Feature Code 9100. If you install it as part of this service action, record the rack location of the KVM unit in Table 4. Tip: As a best practice, install the KVM unit directly above or below the SSPC server so that the connecting cables of the device can reach the server. Feature code 9100 comes with installation instructions. If you ordered this feature code, follow the instructions but do not remove and discard the rubber pads under the keyboard. Peel off the protective strip on the console to expose the adhesive surface and place the keyboard into the tray. Press the keyboard firmly so that it adheres to the tray. You can discard the switch mounting brackets that come with feature code 9100. Table 4. EIA location of the SSPC server and the keyboard video mouse unit Location of SSPC hardware in EIA number: the rack Location of keyboard video mouse unit in the rack (this EIA number: unit already might be installed and is optional) Product Key and computer name for Windows operating system During the initial Windows configuration process, you are prompted to enter the 25-digit Windows product key. The key is printed on a sticker labeled "Proof of License Certificate of Authority" and is located on the outside top cover of the SSPC server. Record this key now because the sticker might be obscured when you place the SSPC server in the hardware rack. Windows product key: - - - - Table 5. Table 6. Customer passwords Field Entry Comments Windows Administrator password Host authentication password Windows Administrator password: Host authentication password: List the password that the IBM service representative sets the Administrator ID to during the initial logon to the SSPC server. This password can be changed after the system has been installed. To comply with the password requirements of the Windows operating system and the applications installed on SSPC, both the Windows Administrator password and the Host authentication password must consist of a minimum of six characters, one of which is an uppercase character and one of which is a numeric character. Characters that are permitted are: v A through Z (uppercase characters) v a through z (lowercase characters) v 0 through 9 (numeric characters) v Only the following special characters: -, _, and. (dash, underscore, and period) List the password that is used by IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center when communicating with the Fabric agents. This password can be different than the Windows Administrator password. This password can be changed after the system has been installed. The characters in the password must conform to the same rules as the Windows Administrator password. SSPC physical location (IPv4 or IPv6) In Table 7, record the IP addresses and host name for the SSPC server. IPv4 or IPv6 addresses can be used depending on the setup of the server. Table 7. IP addresses and host name Field IP address or host name Comments SSPC IP address IP address: This value is the address for the SSPC server. SSPC Subnet Mask IP address: This value hides the IP address. Obtain this value by typing ipconfig in a command prompt window on any computer on the network or by asking the network administrator. SSPC Default gateway SSPC Preferred DNS address IP address: DNS address: This value is the router that allows access from one network to another network. Obtain this value by typing ipconfig in a command prompt window on any computer on the network or by asking the network administrator. This value is the address for the domain name server for your site. Table 7. IP addresses and host name (continued) Field IP address or host name Comments SSPC Alternate DNS address DNS suffix DNS address: DNS suffix: This value is the alternate address for the domain name server for your site. Obtain this value by typing ipconfig in a command prompt window on any computer on the network or by asking the network administrator. This value is the part of a fully qualified domain name that represents a grouping of host names. For example, in the fully qualified domain name of sspc.ibm.com, the DNS suffix is ibm.com. Obtain this value from the network administrator. Fully qualified host name In Table 8, enter the fully qualified host name of the SSPC server. Table 8. Fully qualified host name Fully qualified host name Host name Worldwide port name Comments A fully qualified host name is the host name plus its domain. For example, abc.tucson.example.com is a fully qualified host name where abc is the short host name and tucson.example.com is the full domain name. If you use a fibre-channel host bus adapter (HBA) to move the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center to IBM System Storage DS8000, you must identify the Worldwide port name (WWPN) of the host bus adapter on the SSPC server. Table 9. Worldwide port name information WWPN WWPN: Comments This value is the WWPN of the fibre-channel HBA on the SSPC server. 14 READ THIS FIRST FLYER
