Download Firmware Follow these steps to download firmware for your PowerFlex 400 drive. 1. Go to the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center at http://www.rockwellautomation.com/rockwellautomation/support/ pcdc.page IMPORTANT You must sign in to the Rockwell Automation website before downloading a firmware revision. 2. Select the Get Downloads tab, then click the Find Product Downloads link. 3. Enter PowerFlex 400 into the Product Search field. The results appears in the box below. 6 Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014

4. Select the entry and the firmware revision, then click Downloads. 5. Click the Show Downloads icon, then click the firmware revision link to download it to your computer. 6. The downloaded file should contain the DSI Drive Flash Tool (DSI_DriveFlash.exe) and Flash Update File (*.mot). Firmware Upgrades Follow these steps to upgrade your firmware. What You Will Need A Serial Flash Firmware Kit (Catalog number AK-U9-FLSH1) A field flashable DSI drive. A PC computer with a free serial communications port and Internet connection. The DSI Drive Flash Tool (DSI_DriveFlash.exe) and Flash Update File (*.mot). See Download Firmware on page 6 on how to obtain the files. Connect Hardware 1. Remove all power to the drive including any externally supplied control power. L1 L2 L3 I ATTENTION: To avoid an electric shock hazard, verify that the voltage on the bus capacitors has discharged before performing any work on the drive. Measure the DC bus voltage at the +DC and DC terminals of the Power Terminal Block. The voltage must be zero. O Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014 7

2. Disconnect all options connected to the DSI ports on the drive. DSI Port RS485 (DSI) Ports IMPORTANT Connected communication options can interfere with the flash process. 3. Connect the DSI cable and the Serial cable to the Flash Module. 4. Connect the 9-pin sub-miniature D-shell female connector of the Serial cable to a serial communications port on a PC computer. 8 Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014

5. Verify that the drive is Enabled. The drive is Enabled if: ENBL Enable Jumper is installed OR A valid input is supplied to I/O Terminal 01 Enable Jumper Installed on Control Board Input at I/O Terminal 01 (2 Wire Control Example Shown) 01 02 03 04 05 ENBL 06 07 08 09 11 01 02 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 RS485 (DSI) Stop-Run IMPORTANT The drive must be enabled during the flash process. 6. With all power removed from the drive, attach the 10-pin connector on the DSI cable to port J2 on the drive control board. J2 You are now ready to flash update the drive firmware. Flash the Drive 1. Obtain the latest DSI Drive Flash Tool (DSI_DriveFlash.exe) and Flash Update File (*.mot). See Download Firmware on page 6 on how to obtain the files. 2. Power up the drive and verify that the Green LED on the Flash Module lights. Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014 9

3. Double-click DSI_DriveFlash.exe file to run the DSI Drive Flash Tool. Review and accept the license agreement. 4. From the DSI Drive Flash Tool s main window: Click Browse and select the desired flash update file. Select the correct serial communication port. Select the desired baud rate. The default baud rate is 57600. If problems occur during the flash routine, this rate can be reduced. 5. To begin the Flash Update routine, click the Flash Update button. 6. When programming is complete, exit the DSI Drive Flash Tool. Return Drive to Service 1. Remove power to the drive and wait for the Green LED on the Flash Module to go out. IMPORTANT If power is reapplied to the drive too quickly, the drive can remain locked in the flash state. If this occurs, remove power to the drive and wait three minutes before reapplying power. 2. Disconnect the DSI cable from port J2 on the drive control board. 3. Reconnect communication option if applicable. 4. Restore power to the drive. If the drive displays a F100 Parameter Checksum fault, cycle power to the drive. Repeat if the fault occurs a second time. 5. Reset parameters to factory defaults. Access parameter P041 [Reset to Defalts] and set to 1. 6. Access parameter d320 [Control SW Ver] and verify that the updated firmware version is installed. 7. Reprogram the drive for your application. 10 Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014

Enhancements There are no enhancements included in this firmware revision. New Parameters The following parameters are new in firmware revision 7.01. To allow users more flexibility in configuring the sleep and wake operations, parameters T090 [Sleep Sel] and T091 [Wake Sel] have been added to the Terminal Block group. To use these parameters, set parameter T077 [Sleep-Wake Sel] to option 4 Ind Slp/Wake. To simplify using PID Setpoint with the sleep/wake functions without changing the values for Sleep Level and Wake Level, parameter A203 [Wake Deviation] has been added to the Advanced Program group. To allow users more flexibility in applying the values obtained from the analog inputs, parameters A204 [ACT1 Input], A205 [ACT2 Input], A206 [ACT1 Minimum], A207 [ACT1 Maximum], A208 [ACT2 Minimum], and A209 [ACT2 Maximum] have been added to the Advanced Program group. To allow preloading of the integral component on wake, parameter A210 [Wake PID Preload] has been added to the Advanced Program group. Parameter Updates The following parameters have been updated in firmware revision 7.01. Option 24 Fault has been added to parameters T055 [Relay Out1 Sel], T060 [Relay Out2 Sel], T065 [Opto Out Sel], R221 [Relay Out3 Sel], R224 [Relay Out4 Sel], R227 [Relay Out5 Sel], R230 [Relay Out6 Sel], R233 [Relay Out7 Sel], and R236 [Relay Out8 Sel]. When this option is selected, the relay remains in the off state when power is applied to the drive and energizes when a fault occurs. This is inverted from Option 0, Ready/Fault. Option 4 Ind Slp/Wake has been added to parameter T077 [Sleep-Wake Sel] to enable the Sleep and Wake functions to work independently. Analog input settings 24...29 have been added to parameters T082 [Analog Out1 Sel] and T085 [Analog Out2 Sel]. Setting Output Range Min. Output Value Max. Output Value = [Analog Output Hi] Filter DIP Switch AO1 Setting Related Parameter 24 AnlgIn1 0-10 0-10V 0V = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 10V d305 25 AnlgIn1 0-20 0-20 ma 0 ma = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 20 ma d305 26 AnlgIn1 4-20 4-20 ma 4 ma = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 20 ma d305 27 AnlgIn2 0-10 0-10V 0V = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 10V d306 28 AnlgIn2 0-20 0-20 ma 0 ma = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 20 ma d306 29 AnlgIn2 4-20 4-20 ma 4 ma = 0.0% 100.0% Setting Filter A 20 ma d306 Rockwell Automation Publication 22C-RN001B-EN-E - August 2014 11
