Premier Professional Fitness Trainer Course Course (PT-1200): Evidence-based Exercise Prescription Life Time Academy Mission To deliver an innovative, science- based curriculum that emphasizes hands- on, real- life training, in a premier fitness setting, that creates certified Life Time Academy professionals who realize immediate success in their career. Course Description and Objective: This course is designed to give students the ability to learn more about a career in personal training, as well as earn their NASM CPT and CES certifications to start working in the industry. It is designed to provide the foundational knowledge of becoming a personal trainer. In the fitness industry designing an individualized, systematic and integrated fitness program can be only accomplished with an understanding of the rationale for integrated training. You will develop the baseline knowledge, skills and abilities to becoming a successful trainer. Students in this course will learn how to perform fitness assessments and interpret the data to develop individualized, goal- specific exercise programs. Students will be introduced to the theory and principles of integrated training and they will learn to apply evidence- based techniques to promote flexibility, core stability, balance, cardiorespiratory, and resistance training, as well as basic behavior modification and nutrition guidelines. The course will follow a similar delivery format to all the courses in the Professional Fitness Trainer Program. More specific details of the course hours can be found below. You also have the ability to receive 7 class credit hours and an exam fee credit towards the Master PFT program, should you wish to continue on in the program following successful completion of this course. Course Topics Module 1: Evaluation of Human Movement Module 2: Integrated Training Components Module 3: The OPT Model and Corrective Exercise interventions Module 4: Special Populations, Diet, and Business Development Hours and On- line Modules: The 100 instructor- led contact clock hours are made up of 76 hours of on- line learning via reading, collaboration, quizzes, assignments and discussions, 16 hours of live lab learning and 8 hours of personal practicum. The lab hours are typically 4- hour weekend intensive spread throughout the 12 weeks and cover the module topics noted above. Students will have 12 weeks to complete the course, in addition to the certification exam prep course prior to taking the NASM- CPT and CES credentialing exams. Lab times are noted as EEP Course and can be found on the school calendar, which is updated regularly.

Course Description and Objective: This set of courses are designed to give students the ability learn more about a career in personal training, as well as earn their NASM CPT and CES certification to start working in the industry. In the fitness industry designing an individualized, systematic and integrated fitness program can be only accomplished with an understanding of the rationale for integrated training. Following the completion of the PT- 1200 course (Evidence- based Exercise Prescription), students will move into the Fitness Trainer Capstone course. Students in this course will learn how to apply the fundamental sciences of a personal trainer and what it means to be in the service business of personal training. Students will learn basic business principles on how to generate business, be productive in marketing, brand development, time management and financial goal setting. Students will develop the baseline science and business knowledge, skills and abilities to becoming a successful trainer. The courses will follow a similar delivery format to all the courses in the Professional Fitness Trainer Program. You also have the ability to receive 13 class credit hours and an exam fee credit towards the Master PFT program, should you wish to continue on in the program following successful completion of these courses. Hours and On- line Modules: Course PT- 1200 consists of 100 instructor- led contact clock hours are made up of 76 hours of on- line learning via reading, collaboration, quizzes, assignments and discussions, 16 hours of live lab learning and 8 hours of personal practicum. Course PT- 1000 consists of 20 hours of online reading, assignments and quizzes Course PT- 3000 (Externship) consists of 120 hours of live, on the fitness floor activities with weekly objectives. The week consists of approximately 15 hours, with 2-3 hours with your instructor. The majority of time is spent on independent application and experience development engaging with prospective clients and eventually training.
