1 Scope This Application Note details the compatibility between bioclass revision A / bioclass revision B and iclass SE Biometric readers. Each item is a categorized in parentheses as a Difference, New Constraint or Slight Design Change. The bioclass reader has been phased out by HID and has been replaced by the iclass SE Biometric reader. 1.1 Form Factor (Difference) Product bioclass revision A / B iclass SE Biometric reader Dimensions 8.43 x 4.17 x 2.28 (21.4 cm x 10.6 cm x 5.8 cm) 4.8" x 6.1" x 1.2" (12.2 cm x 15.6 cm x 3.0 cm) Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: Customers replacing a bioclass product with an iclass SE Biometric reader must ensure the installation environment has sufficient space for the iclass SE Biometric reader s dimensions. 1.2 Biometric Template Compatibility (Difference) 1.2.1 Revision A bioclass Read Compatibility The iclass SE Biometric reader will read biometric templates from iclass and iclass SR cards enrolled by the following bioclass products: iclass CP575A Biometric Enroller and Programmer (6250B) bioclass Reader / Enroller RKLB57 6180B / 6188B The iclass SE Biometric reader will not read biometric templates from iclass and iclass SR enrolled by the following bioclass products: iclass CP575 Biometric Enroller (6250A) (sold in 2004 to 2008) Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: Customers with cards which will not read on the iclass SE Biometric reader will need to re-enroll biometric templates on their cards using the iclass SE Biometric reader. 1.2.2 Revision A bioclass Enrollment Compatibility The iclass SE Biometric reader will enroll biometric templates to iclass and iclass SR cards which the following bioclass products may read: bioclass Reader / Enroller RKLB57 6180B / 6188B bioclass Reader RKLB57 6180B bioclass Reader Writer RWKLB575 6181B The iclass SE Biometric reader will not enroll biometric templates to iclass and iclass SR cards which the following bioclass products may read: bioclass Reader RKLB57 6180A (sold in 2004 to 2008) bioclass Reader Writer RWKLB575 6181A (sold in 2004 to 2008) Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: Customers with bioclass products which will not read cards enrolled by the iclass SE Biometric reader will need to replace bioclass products with the iclass SE Biometric readers and re-enroll biometric templates on their cards using the iclass SE Biometric reader. Page 4 of 6 June 2017

1.3 Function keys (Difference) bioclass products provided four additional keys above the 3 x 4 keypad used for custom OEM controller functionality. The iclass SE Biometric reader do not provide these keys. Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: To facilitate function key functionality controller OEM integration will need to be modified to use alternative keypress sequence such as * 1 instead of function key-1. 1.4 iclass Serial Protocol (Difference) The iclass Serial Protocol available in bioclass Reader Writer RWKLB575 6181A / 6181B is not supported in iclass SE Biometric readers. iclass SE Biometric readers will optionally support the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP). Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: To read cards with serial output, use the iclass SE Biometric reader with Wiegand communication and a 3rd party converter or the iclass SE Biometric Reader with OSDP communication. If card Read / Write is required, write functionality will need to be deprecated, existing readers will need to be replaced with iclass SE Biometric Readers and cards will need biometric templates re-enrolled using the iclass SE Biometric Reader. 1.5 Specifications (Difference) Specification bioclass RKLB57 / RWKLB575 iclass SE Biometric Voltage 9-12VDC 12VDC Current Consumption 245mA MAX AVG 299mA PEAK 255mA MAX AVG 320 PEAK Temperature 32 F to 113 F (0 C to 45 C) 14 F to 122 F (-10 C to 50 C) 1.6 iclass Read Priority over Seos (New Constraint) The iclass SE Biometric reader optionally reads iclass and Seos, only iclass or only Seos card technology. This can be configured via a configuration card ordered from HID Global. If a dual technology iclass / Seos card is presented to a reader configured for iclass and Seos technology, the iclass technology in the card will always be detected first and the card will only be read if there is a biometric template enrolled on the iclass technology. Impact for Migration from iclass to iclass / Seos cards: To read Seos card data from the Iclass / Seos cards configure the reader to read only Seos technology. 1.7 iclass and iclass SR Non-Default Template Location Configuration (Slight Design Change) Non-default template location for the iclass SE Biometric reader must be configured via configuration card. Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: If non-default template storage is required a configuration card or custom reader part number must be ordered from HID Global. 1.8 Card, PIN and Fingerprint Presentation Order (Slight Design Change) User card must be present card before fingerprint or PIN (for local PIN verify keypad mode). Impact for Migration from bioclass to iclass SE Biometric: User may need to modify the order they present authentication factors to the reader. June 2017 Page 5 of 6
