Chapter 1 Brief Introduction 1.1 Description VMS2.0 is a versatile video management software for the DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras, decoders, etc. It provides multiple functionality, including real-time live view, video recording, remote search and playback, file backup, alarm receiving, etc., for the connected devices to meet the needs of monitoring task. With the flexible distributed structure and easy-to-use operations, the client software is widely applied to the surveillance projects of medium or small scale. This user manual describes the function, configuration and operation steps of VMS2.0 software. To ensure the properness of usage and stability of the software, please refer to the contents below and read the manual carefully before installation and operation. VMS2.0 support the initiative register and I8H two protocol at present, owns 1000-CH free authorization,and authorize the deadline for a month, equipment will not be able to be normal online after the authorization expires, if you want to get a permanent authorization,please contact with dealers to buy. 1.2 Running Environment Operation system: Windows 2003 or higher (need to install the framework4.0), recommend to use windows7 CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E3400 @2.6GHZ or higher models RAM: 4G or higher System environment: The program running need to occupy the database, 5050 port and 6666 port,one PC can only run one database,please make sure there being no other database normally running and the two data port are being used, otherwise it may cause the program being not able to run normally. 1

Chapter 2 Installation 1. Double-click the software icon to run installation program. 2. Language configuring: the program will automatically identify system language, if user want to install other language, please select in the drop-down box, initial program only support simplified Chinese and English. Click OK after configuring the installation language. 3. Click Next in the following figure. 4. Setting the install folder: The default path is C:\VMS. User can change to other folder, for example we change to the D folder here. Click Next after configuring. 2

5. Shortcut setting. 6. Click Next and Install to start the installation progress. 7. Click Finish to complete the installation. 3

Chapter 3 Live View 3.1 User Login Steps: Input the password: Initial password is 123456. Optionally, check the check-box Remember password to skip input password next time. Check the check-box Auto login to log into the software automatically. Click Login. 3.2 Adding the Device After running the VMS2.0, devices including network cameras, video encoders, DVRs, NVRs, decoder, etc., should be added to the client for the remote configuration and management, such as live view, playback, alarm setting, etc. Perform the following steps to enter the device adding interface: 1. Click the icon on the control panel. 2. Click the Add device tab. 3. Select the Protocol in the Add device interface. 4

4. Click Search button, then the device online will be listed on the Search device online window, shown in figure. 5. Check the device you want to add, click Select button. 6. Click Save button. 5

3.3 Adding Decoder 1. Click the Decoder tab in the Devices management interface, shown in figure 2. Click Add Decoder tab to enter the searching interface, shown in figure 3. Click Search button to search for the decoder online. 6

4. Check the decoder that needs to add, click Select button. 5. Click Save button. 3.4 Group Management The devices added should be organized into groups for a convenient management. You can get the live view, play back the record files, and do some other operations of the device through the group. Steps to enter the Group management interface: Open the Devices management page. Click the Group tab to enter the Group management interface. 7

3.4.1 Adding the Group Steps: 1. Right-click in right side blank are and choose Add Group, shown in figure. 2. Input a group name as you want. 3. Click Save to add the new group to the group list. 3.4.2 Importing the Device to Group Steps: 1. Select the devices in the left side list. 2. Select a group from the group list. 3. Click the button to import the selected devices to the group. 8

3.4.3 Removing the Devices from the Group Steps: 1. Select the devices in group list. 2. Click the button to remove the devices from the group. 3.4.4 Deleting a Group Steps: 1. Select the group in the group list. 2. Right-click on the top of the group name and select Delete Group. 3.5 Layout In the Devices Management module, click the Layout tab to enter the Layout configuring interface. 9

Click the Add Layout button, it will pop-up the window: Fill in the name of the layout; Select the split screen number; Click Save button. 10

Chapter 4 Preview 4.1 Basic Operations in Preview For the surveillance task, you can view the live video of the added network cameras and video encoders on the Main View page. And some basic operations are supported, including picture capturing, manual recording, PTZ control, etc.. 4.2 Preview Toolbar On the preview window, the following toolbar buttons are available: Toolbar Description Toolbar Description Open/close the channel intercom Stop the channel preview Capture Full Screen Open/close the channel record Open/close the audio Stop stream Record state Window division 11

4.3 Starting and Stopping the Preview 4.3.1 Starting Preview for One Camera Steps: Open the Preview page. Click the widow division toolbar to select a division mode for preview. Click and drag the camera from the Device list to the display window. 4.3.2 Stopping the Preview Steps: Select the display window. Click the icon that appears in the upper-right corner when the mouse pointer is over the display window to stop a selected channel, or click button in preview toolbar to stop all the preview. 4.4 Auto-switch in Preview The video stream of the cameras from the same group will switch automatically in a selected display window in camera auto-switch. Steps: Open the preview page. Select a display window for camera auto-switch. Select a group and right-click to start polling. You can right-click to pause or stop the camera auto switch. 12

4.5 Device layout round tour Add two or more than two layout (Specific operation please refer to the device management - layout), after finished the layout settings, switch to the page layout in the preview screen, as shown in the figure: Right click on the layout, one click to open the layout preview, select start polling can open multiple layout between round tour, round tour time interval can be set when set up the layout, select stop all can stop the round tour or close the current preview. 4.6 PTZ Control in Preview The software provides PTZ control for cameras with iris/focus/zoom functionality. You can set the preset, cruise and track for the cameras on the PTZ Control panel. 4.6.1 Configuring the Preset A preset is a predefined image position which contains information of iris/focus/zoom and other parameters. Perform the following steps to add a preset: Click the direction buttons and other buttons on the PTZ control panel to steer the 13

camera to the desired position. Select a PTZ preset number from the preset drop-down list and click. To call a configured preset, select the preset number, then click the 4.6.2 Configuring the Track A track is a memorized, repeating series of iris/focus/zoom, and preset functions. Perform the following steps to add a track: Select the track number from the track drop-down list. Click the to start recording of this track path. Use the direction buttons to control the PTZ movement. Click to stop and save the track recording. Click the icon to call the track. To stop calling the track, click once again. 4.6.3 Configuring the Cruise A cruise is a scanning track specified by a group of user-defined presets, with the scanning speed between two presets and the cruise time at the preset separately programmable. Perform the following steps to add and call a cruise: Click a cruise number from the drop-down list. Click to add a preset, and set the time and speed for the preset. Repeat the above operation to add other presets to the cruise. Click the icon to call the cruise. 4.7 Image Parameters After opening the preview, user can adjust image parameters of picture, this adjustment didn t change the front-end parameters of IPC, just adjust the display effect on VMS of image, shown in figure : 14

Users can adjust the bright, contrast and related parameters according to desired. 4.8 Preview Multi-screen Display Preview module can open multiple, and the various modules are active, do not influence each other, if the user's graphics card support multi-monitor output, you can meet the requirements of multiple screen display. Don't limit the number of opening preview module, for example, open two preview module, drag out one of which,(drag it out after the same module can be dragged back), as for another display screen, the specific effect as shown in the figure below: The main screen on the left, the auxiliary screen on the right side, they do not influence each other between these two screens. 15

Chapter 5 Video Playback Click the icon on Control panel, entering the video playback page. 5.1 Playback Video files Steps: Check the device that needs to playback on the device list. Select the date on the calendar. Select the video location, CMS or DEVICE. Select the Stream Type, Main Stream or Sub Stream. Click Video Retrieval button. The retrieve result is shown in figure: 16

Steps: Select the file location, DEVICE or CMS. Select the channel. Set the start time and end time. Browse and set the download path. 17

Click icon to start download process. 18

Chapter 6 E-map Management The E-map function gives a visual overview of the locations and distributions of the installed cameras and alarm input devices. You can get the live view of the cameras on the map, and you will get a notification message from the map when alarm is triggered. Click the icon on the Control panel to open the E-map configuration page. 6.1 Adding an E-map Steps: Open the Map management page. Right click on the Map icon and click add map Click the icon and select a map file from the local path. Input a descriptive name of the added map as desired. Click to save the settings. 19

The map added is displayed in the Map Display Area. Use the mouse to zoom in or zoom out on the map. You can click-and-drag to adjust the map area for view. Among which, the opened map will be marked yellow as diacritical point. 6.2 Map Tree Right-click Function 1)Add Map: add new map. 2)Delete Map: delete the current selected map. 3)Add Child Map: add sub map in the current directory map, one map can add multi & multilevel sub map, after finish adding sub map, it will show on the main map as click icon, double click this icon on the main map can switch to the related sub map, button on the sub map, can return to the main map. 20

6.3 Adding Cameras to E-map Steps: Click to enter Map configuration interface. Click and drag the camera from device list to the desired position on the map. 6.4 Previewing Cameras on E-map Click to enter Map preview interface. Double-click the camera or right-click it and select Preview and you can get the live view of the cameras. If there is any alarm triggered, an icon will appear on the camera. 21

Chapter 7 Decoder Management The TV Wall module provides the video decoding functionality, and the decoded video can be displayed on the TV Wall for an attention-grabbing performance. Note: The TV Wall module only displays when Decoding Device is enabled for adding to the client. 7.1 Adding TV Wall 7.1.1 Layout Settings Steps: Click Add TV Wall to enter TV Wall Setting interface. Set the window division matrix, maximum 8*8. Input the TV Wall Name. Make a description of the TV Wall if needed. 7.1.2 Screen Input Binding figure: Drag and drop the added decoding to the layout that has been set, as shown in the 22

On this interface, users can layout according to the actual situation, then make the decoder matrix corresponding to the TV wall layout, if the screen plans for round tour screen, please check whether round tour after finish setting. 7.1.3 Group Management Enter the group management, as shown in the figure: Click add group(note: only round tour screen can add groups, without round tour screen, can directly click next to skip this page). 23

For the round tour screen in figure 2, it can set group, step 1, set the group name and group standing time, group name customer can self define according to the actual situation, group standing time user can select between 1s to 6000s. Click confirm after finishing setting, then drag the device channel to the split screen 2, then complete the layout of the first group, as shown in the figure. After finishing setting, click add group below, can continue adding a new group, operation method is consistent with that of before, after finishing setting multi group, if you want to delete certain group, select the group, and just click delete group. After finishing setting all the group, click save and enable, it will save the group that has been set, then enable it, if click save, then it can just save the group but the 24

group status is disable, as shown in the figure: 7.1.4 Start Status If you need to enable this configuration, click immediately to enable this configuration, and just click finish button below, if don't need to enable for the time being, directly click finish to exist this interface. After finish setting, the configuration scheme will display in the decoding configuration list. 7.2 Decoding Management Click icon on the Control panel, entering the decoding preview window, 25

shown in the figure: 7.2.1 Decoding Mode Selection After selecting the scheme, in order to ensure the normal decoding, please set the decoders decoding mode first, decoding mode is related with the decoder, different decoder is not the same as the corresponding decoding mode, decoding mode shows decoders decoding ability, click button in the picture, as shown in the figure: Decoding mode shows the decoder current decoding ability, this decoder in the picture supports 3 types of decode mode, namely 16CH 720*576,9CH 1280*960 and 4CH 2048*1536(note: the number behind shows the max resolution that can decode, such as 9CH mode, the max resolution of which is 1280*960). To ensure the resolution of front end IPC does not exceed the resolution limit of the current decoder mode, can it normally decoding display. 26

7.2.2 Decoding on Wall After selected scheme, select the channel that needs decoding on wall on the left side of the device list, the decoding screen that have been dragged and dropped to the corresponding decoder can complete the decoding on the wall(note: the screen that has been set as round tour screen can not be manually dragged and drop the channel to decode can only be used for round tour): For the channel that has been dragged and dropped to the decoder screen, if want to replace other channels, just directly drag and drop the other channels to the corresponding window. If you want to delete, you can select the channel that needs to delete, then just click button: 27

7.2.3 Decoding Round Tour If you want to implements decoding round tour for certain decoder, you must check round tour for the decoder when configure the TV wall scheme(6.2are described in detail), round tour group is also confirmed when configure the scheme. After ensuring that the round tour group and round tour screen has been set in the scheme, click tour, and click button on the below interface, then you can start/pause the round button in the process of the round tour, you can stop the round tour(note: round tour control button is only effective for the round tour decoding, not effective for the normal decoder. 7.2.4 Decoder Preview Buttons button Description button Description Previous Group Start Roll Clear Next Group Stop Roll Full Screen 1 Splits 4 Splits 9 Splits 16 Splits 7.2.5 Decoder Playback Switch to playback operation page, as shown in the figure: 28

Drag and drop the channel that needs to playback to the decoder, then select search terms(date and video path), click video retrieval button below, you can retrieve the video file of the corresponding channel, this operation is similar to the video playback module operation. After finishing the video retrieval, click button below or operate mouse to double click to position, then it will begin to play, and it can position again by double clicking on the mouse in the process of playing, as shown in the figure: Note: Due to the decoder performance limits, the decoder playback can support at most 4CH playback at the same time. 29

Chapter 8 Alarm Configuration Click icon on the Control Panel, entering the alarm configuration interface. Alarm configuration is alarm rule setting module, if users want to achieve alarm linkage on VMS, must set the alarm linkage rule first, shown in the figure: The alarm configuration page will display the linkage rule that has been set at present and the enable status of the rule. 8.1 New Rules of Linkage New rules of linkage, please click Add on the upper left corner, shown in the figure: 31

1)Rule Name: the alarm linkage rule name, users can self define. 2)Alarm Type: Select the alarm type. 3)Alarm Source: Select the alarm source of camera that has been added to VMS. 4)Linkage Action: including map, capture, PTZ, Record, pop image and TV wall, the various definitions are as follow: Map: it shows alarm on the map interface. Capture: capture the images of linkage channels; PTZ: the PTZ can turn to certain preset point, cruise or track, after linkage. Record: after the alarm triggered, the linkage channel will start recording. Pop Image: after the alarm triggered, the linkage video channel will pop-up the preview window and stay for a period of time. TV Wall: select the channel and TV wall that needs to be on wall, after the alarm triggered, it will upload the real time preview picture of this channel to the TV wall display. 32

8.2 Modify the Alarm Rules After finishing adding the alarm rule, users can click the Modify icon marked in the picture to edit for the existed rule. 8.3 Delete the Alarm Rule If you want to delete the rule existed, just click Delete button in the picture, if just temporarily not enable, you can move check button in the picture. 8.4 View Alarm Information Different alarm types can be displayed on the panel: Motion Detection, Video lost, Alarm Input, and Other Alarm. Steps: Click button on the Control Panel, entering the alarm information management interface: Set the start and end time you want to search. Select the alarm type. Click the icon, then the information matching will listed, shown in figure. 33

Chapter 9 Log Management The log files of the client software are stored on the local PC and can be searched for checking. 5 types of log files are provided: Login/out, Device manage, Open/Close record, Linkage manage and Remote config. Steps: Click button on the Control Panel, entering the log management interface: Set the start and end time you want to search. Select the log type. Click the icon, then the information matching will listed, shown in figure. 35

Chapter 10 User Account Management Multiple user accounts can be added to the client software, and you are allowed to assign different permissions for different users if needed. 10.1 Adding the User Steps: Open the Users Management page. Click icon to open the Add user dialog box. Input the user name, password and confirm password as desired. Click. 10.2 User Right Allocation For the users that have been added, if want to allocate rights, click the right button marked on the picture, then begin rights allocation: 36

The rights can be divided into three parts, Common right, Map right and decoder right. 1)Common right:common rights including preview, playback, record, and intercom. The channel that haven t been allocated the rights will be hidden when the user log in. For example, the test user just have been allocated only 5 channels of preview right, shown in the figure: 37

Then the user test to login the server will only be able to see 5 channels, shown in the figure: Note: Super user admin owns the highest rights, and can not be modified. 10.3 Managing the User 1)Modify a user Click icon shown in the figure, it will pop up an editable interface. 38

Users can modify the user name and password as desired, after finish modifying, just click icon. 2)Delete a user On the User management interface, click icon of a user, then it will delete the corresponding user, among which the super user admin can not be deleted. 39
