Eligibility To register and complete the exams you need ONE of the following: A degree in any subject Two years' post-secondary education (such as A-levels) and two years' experience in internal audit Four years' experience in internal audit
Eligibility To be awarded the CIA designation you must have ONE of the following: A degree in any subject and two years internal audit experience Two years' post-secondary education (such as A-levels) and five years' experience Seven years' experience in internal audit

Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership
New leadership qualification Developed by IIA Global with the Chartered IIA Chartered members can complete a presentation and panel interview task to earn the QIAL Five years relevant experience required at completion
Arrangements for existing students
Three-year transition period Existing students have three years to complete their current qualification Switch over to a new qualification with credit for modules completed, at any time PIIAs and CMIIAs can accept CIA and use both designations CIA will usually be required to take the case study exams leading to chartered status PIIAs advised to accept it
Transitioning to the CIA IIA Diploma modules passed will earn credit towards the CIA: Modules passed Credit may be claimed for P1, P2 and P4 (all three modules) CIA part 3 P3 CIA part 2 P3 and P5 (both modules) CIA part 1 Full details at www.iia.org.uk/transition
