It recognises people who have demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to operate, under supervision, as an urban pest manager in commercial and/or domestic premises. People who hold this certificate have also demonstrated competence in more generic skills in the areas of health and safety, communications, and customer service. This certificate is also designed to provide a means of recognising prior learning for those already in the industry. The optional strands in Fumigation, Vertebrate Pests, Wood Borer, Shooting, Bird Control, Textile Pests, Bedbug Control and Ant Control allow recognition for people who choose to specialise in carrying out, one or more of, a variety of urban pest management services at an advanced level. Special Notes This certificate is also designed to provide a means of recognising prior learning for those already in the industry. Assessment of recognition of prior learning may be conducted by an assessor appointed by the Community Support Services ITO Limited (Careerforce). Application for recognition of prior learning supported by appropriate documentation may be directed to the Chief Executive, Community Support Services ITO Limited (Careerforce). For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards. Changes to structure and content included: titles of reviewed standards updated; level of standard 3259 increased from 2 to 3; and prerequisite diagram updated. Version 3 was issued following a review. Changes to structure and content included: strands for Bird Control and Textile Pests added; two alternative interpersonal skills standards 1307 and 1312 were added to elective and the structure amended to allow people to select one from the list; and prerequisite diagram updated.
