Preface The intent of any DICO conformance statement is to provide a knowledgeable user with the information required to determine whether and to what extent independent DICO implementations may be able to inter-operate. However, the information contained in a DICO conformance statement is not sufficient to ensure independent implementations will, in fact, be able to inter-operate. The user or system integrator must be aware of the following potential issues related to interoperation: Using only the information provided by this Conformance Statement does not guarantee interoperability of Camtronics equipment with non-camtronics equipment. It is the user s (or system integrator s) responsibility to analyze thoroughly the application requirements and objectives to determine if they can be met by the connection of Camtronics equipment to non-camtronics equipment. Camtronics equipment has been tested to assure that the actual implementation of the DICO interface corresponds with this Conformance statement. It is the responsibility of the user (or system integrator) to specify and carry out additional validation testing, which covers a broad spectrum of potential interactions between the independent implementations. Camtronics reserves the right to make changes to its products or to discontinue their delivery. Therefore, the user (or system integrator) should ensure that any future versions of Camtronics or non-camtronics equipment are regression tested to verify that new software releases have not adversely impacted the ability to inter-operate. Camtronics provides this documentation as is without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties or merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Some states or countries do not allow disclaimers of express or implied warranties in certain transactions; therefore, this statement may not apply to you. No part of this publication may be reproduced, transmitted, transcribed, recorded, or translated into any language in any form or by any means, electronic, magnetic, optical, chemical, physical or otherwise. Camtronics reserve the right to correct this publication and to make changes to its contents without the obligation of informing anyone of these revisions or changes. Camtronics, Ltd. 0 Introduction This document provides the conformance statement for the Camtronics edical Systems Video Plus Series. Details on the supported DICO service classes and roles are contained within. All of the DICO features mentioned in this document are optional and may not be available on certain products within the Video Plus Series. 1 Implementation odel 1.1 Application Data Flow Diagram The Application Data Flow Diagram for the Video Plus is shown in Figure 1. Local Real-World Activity Local Application Entity Remote Real-World Activity User selects DICO Send option User selects Archive Patient option VP-DICO AE Image stored remotely Remote takes ownership of images Remote responds to verification User selects DICO Echo option Figure 1 Implementation odel DICO Standard Interface Remote requests verification The Video Plus implementation consists of a single Application Entity called VP-DICO. The VP-DICO AE provides all the DICO services for the Video Plus. Document. No. 09610-0012 Page 1 of 20 Copyright Camtronics, Ltd. 1997, 1998

When the user selects the DICO Send option, the VP-DICO AE will initiate an association for the purpose of having an image or study stored remotely. When the user selects the Archive Patient option, the VP-DICO AE will initiate an association for the purpose of requesting that the remote accept responsibility for safekeeping of images. The VP-DICO AE will then expect to receive an association when the remote system returns the result of the storage commitment operation. When the user selects the DICO Echo option, the VP-DICO AE will initiate an association for the purpose of verifying that a remote DICO application is responding to requests. The VP-DICO AE will expect to receive an association when a remote system requests verification but will cause no local real world activity. 1.2 Functional Definition of Application Entities The VP-DICO AE provides all of the necessary functionality to implement the network sending and ownership transfer of the DICO images. This includes, but is not limited to, association management, image and demographics encoding, and response interpretation. The images in the Video Plus are acquired by digitizing a video input signal. Demographic information is provided by the user via the keyboard. 1.3 Sequencing of Real-World Activities Not applicable. 2 Application Entity Specifications 2.1 VP-DICO Application Entity Specification The VP-DICO AE provides Standard Conformance to the following DICO V3.0 SOP Classes as a Service Class User (SCU): SOP Class Name SOP Class UID X-Ray Angiographic Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.1 X-Ray Radiofluoroscopic Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.2 Secondary Capture Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.7 Storage Commitment Push odel 1.2.840.10008.1.20.1 Verification 1.2.840.10008.1.1 The VP-DICO AE also provides Standard Conformance to the following DICO V3.0 SOP Classes as a Service Class Provider (SCP): Document. No. 09610-0012 Page 2 of 20 Copyright Camtronics, Ltd. 1997, 1998

SOP Class Name SOP Class UID Verification 1.2.840.10008.1.1 2.1.1 Association Establishment Policies 2.1.1.1 General The VP-DICO AE will always propose the DICO Application Context Name (ACN), which is: Application Context Name 1.2.840.10008.3.1.1.1 The maximum length PDU for an association initiated by the VP-DICO AE is: aximum Length PDU 120 Kbytes 2.1.1.2 Number of Associations The VP-DICO AE will initiate only one DICO association at a time to perform an image storage or storage commitment operation as an SCU. If the user requests an echo (verification service class) during an image storage or storage commitment operation, the VP-DICO AE can initiate a second association. A maximum of two DICO associations will be initiated by the VP-DICO AE at any time. 2.1.1.3 Asynchronous Nature ultiple outstanding transactions are not supported by the VP-DICO AE. 2.1.1.4 Implementation Identifying Information The VP-DICO AE will provide the following Implementation Identifying Information in the User Information Field of the A-ASSOCIATE request primitive during association establishment: Implementation Class UID 1.2.840.113697.8 The VP-DICO AE will have an Implementation Version Name which is formed by appending the software version to the end of the letter V. For example, the Implementation Version Name for software version 4.0 will be V4.0. 2.1.1.5 Time-outs The time-outs for the VP-DICO AE apply for all operations and functions are configurable by service personnel. These time-outs limit the amount of time spent waiting for DISE operations to complete. There are specific time-outs for establishing a connection, writing a command request, writing a command response, reading a command request, reading a command response, writing data, reading data, and closing a connection. Document. No. 09610-0012 Page 3 of 20 Copyright Camtronics, Ltd. 1997, 1998

2.1.2 Association Initiation Policy The VP-DICO AE will attempt to establish an association whenever the user selects the DICO Send option, the Archive Patient option, or the DICO Echo option. All three operations will cause the initiation of an association with the same proposed presentation contexts. 2.1.2.1 Real-World Activity User selects DICO Send option 2.1.2.1.1 Associated Real-World Activity When the user is viewing some part of a multi-framed image and selects the DICO Send option, that image will be queued for transfer. When the user has a patient high-lighted on the patient directory screen and selects the DICO Send option, all the images associated with that patient will be queued for transfer. In both the above scenarios, after the user selects the OK button confirming the requested operation, the VP-DICO AE will initiate a connection to the remote node. The images will be sent to the Send Destination configured at the time the operation was queued. If the Auto-archive option is enabled, all acquired images (not reference or photofile images) will be queued for transfer immediately after they are acquired. In this scenario, the user will not be prompted for confirmation of the operation and the images will be sent to the Archive Destination configured at the time the operation was queued. This option does not cause a Storage Commitment operation to occur. The Video Plus has the ability to modify the pixel matrix, bit depth and to some extent SOP class of the object for image transfer. Proper configuration of these options will allow interoperability with destinations with limitations in these areas. 2.1.2.1.2 Proposed Presentation Contexts Abstract Syntax Transfer Syntax Role Extended Name UID Name UID Negotiation X-Ray Angiographic Image Storage X-Ray Radiofluorosco pic Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.1 JPEG Lossless Process 14 (Selection Value 1) Explicit VR Little Endian Implicit VR Little Endian 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.2 JPEG Lossless Process 14 (Selection Value 1) 1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.70 SCU None 1.2.840.10008.1.2.1 SCU None 1.2.840.10008.1.2 SCU None 1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.70 SCU None Document. 2.1.2.2.2.1 Storage Commitment Push odel SOP Class Conformance The VP-DICO AE may request the storage commitment of the following objects. SOP Class Name SOP Class UID X-Ray Angiographic Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.1 X-Ray Radiofluoroscopic Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.2 Secondary Capture Image Storage 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.7 The Referenced Study Component Sequence Attribute is not supported. The storage commitment transaction will remain valid until the user chooses to cancel the job or the Video Plus is turned off or otherwise loses power or the transaction completes successfully. The optional Storage edia File-set ID and UID Attributes are not supported. When an N-ACTION response is received with anything other than a Success status, the connection is closed and the transmission is retried. When an N-EVENT-REPORT is received indicating no failures (the event type indicates that the operation was successful), the patient study is marked as archived, and is more easily deletable by the user. When an N-EVENT-REPORT is received indicating failures exist (the event type indicates some failures exist), the failed images are automatically requeued along with another storage commit operation. 2.1.2.3 Real-World Activity User selects DICO Echo option 2.1.2.3.1 Associated Real-World Activity When the user is viewing the I/O Status screen, selects the DICO enu option and then selects the DICO Echo option, a screen appears listing all the configured DICO destinations. After a destination is selected and the operation initiated, the VP-DICO AE will initiate a connection to the selected remote node. 2.1.2.3.2 Proposed Presentation Contexts The presentation contexts proposed are the same as the ones specified in section 2.1.2.1.2. 2.1.2.3.2.1 Verification SOP Class Conformance The VP-DICO AE provides standard conformance to the Verification SOP class. 2.1.3 Association Acceptance Policy The VP-DICO AE is always ready to accept associations for the purpose of receiving a verification request or a storage commitment response.
