GETTING STARTED The C6 has been designed to allow emergency calls to be made in the event of a mains failure. Make a call: Pick up the handset Dial the required number Have your conversation Hang up Safety Precautions Do not expose the telephone to humidity or any types of liquid. To avoid the risk of electrocution, do not open the telephone. This telephone should not be used in areas where there is a risk of explosion or gas leaks. There is a slight possibility that this telephone may be damaged by electrical storms. We therefore recommend unplugging the telephone from the line during thunderstorms. Your telephone may interfere with other electrical equipment such as televisions, radios, radio alarms or computers if placed too close to them. We recommend keeping it at least a meter away from such equipment. To clean the product, use a damp (not wet) cloth or antistatic wipe. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause a static shock. Never spray cleaning fluid directly onto the telephone. Environmental impact At the end of its working life this device must not under any circumstances be disposed of as normal waste. It must be taken to a point of sale or central collection point for electronic and electrical devices in accordance with the Swiss Ordinance on the Return, Taking Back and Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Appliances (ORDEA). The individual materials are recyclable as indicated. By reutilizing, recycling or re-using them in any other form, you are making a major contribution towards environmental protection. 3

Varnish and other synthetic finishes can attack and soften the plastic feet on the phone. If the feet become damaged in this way, they can leave marks on surfaces. Swisscom (Suisse) Ltd declines all responsibility for such damage. Basic Steps for Installing the C6 Connect the telephone line cord to the phone cord socket on the back of the base unit and then connect the line phone socket to the wall. Connect the coiled handset cord to the socket on the back of the base unit. Wall Mounting Turn around the integrated piece of plastic with a little screw driver. 4

USING THE PHONE Answering / Making a Call When an incoming call is signalised, pick up the handset to answer the call. To end the call, hang up the handset on the base cradle. To make a call, pick up the handset and dial the number. Memory The telephone has got the following memories: - M1, M2 and M3 as one-touch memory - Keys from 0-9 as two-touch memories To store a number While the handset is off hook: - Press the STO key: the 88 will start blinking as confirmation for the store-mode. - Press the keys:0-9,*,#, Pause, Recall key; - Press the STO key and then M1-M3 or 0-9 key The number is stored in the memory. After pressing the STO key, the 88 counter is flashing to remind that the unit is in store mode. 88 0313422111 After pressing the STO key again to save the number, the number flushes to the left as confirmation that the number has been ported to the memory: 01 0313422111 Memory places are: 0 9 (10 places) indirect access with memory key, an M1 M3 (3 places) direct access. To store a number out of the caller list During Off-Hook mode: - Press Up/Down to enter into the caller list: - Press Up/Down key to choose the number to store - Press the STO key: the 88 will start blinking as confirmation for the store-mode. - Press the STO key again and then M1 - M3 or 0-9 key The number is stored in the memory. 7
USING THE PHONE Memory dialling During Off-Hook mode: - Press the M1 - M3 once and the number in memory is dialled immediately. - Or press the MEM key followed by 0-9 to select the memory to dial. After dialling out the number, the LCD shows the following: 01 0313422111 Redialling / pause function During Off-Hook: - Press the Redial key The newest number in the redial list will be dialled immediately. If the redial list is empty, the key changes to Pause feature. After pressing the first number key (or * / #) the redial key changes also to pause function. The pause function will also be used for memory storing. The pause time will be 2 seconds. Hotline dialling During Off-Hook: - Press the Hotline key The number 0800 800 800 will be dialled immediately After dialling out the number, the LCD shows the following: 0800800800 8
USING THE PHONE Register Recall You can connect an external call to another internal extension at the PABX. This can be done with the Register Recall or R function. During the call: - Press the R- key The unit sends a line break signal (Flash-Time) with a duration of 100ms or 300ms. - Dial the desired number The Recall function can be stored into memory. See Flash-Time setting on page 13. Mute function During Off-Hook: - Press the Mute key The microphone is inactive. Press the Mute key again to activate the microphone. When the mute function is activated, the LCD shows the following: 00-30 Talking timer 7 seconds after dialling out the talking timer starts and the LCD shows the following: 00-01 Talk time in minutes and seconds. The talk time will disappear after you put the handset on the hook. 9
CALLER LIST If you get a new call while you are away from your phone, the LCD will show the following: 01 The symbol will flash if there are any new missed calls. On the right of the symbol you see the number of missed calls in your list. After review of the caller list the icon will turned on together with the total number of calls in the list. Review caller list During standby mode: - Press the Up/Down key to enter into the caller list - Press Up/Down key to review the caller list. If the call is new, the NEW icon is flashing. If the same caller tried to call more than once, the REPT symbol (below the NEW symbol) will be showed also Dialling a number out of the caller list During On-Hook: - Press the Up/Down key to enter into the caller list - Press Up/Down key to choose the number to dial - Pick up the handset The number will be dialled out, or 2s after picking up the handset. Delete one entry During On/Off-Hook: - Press the Up/Down key to enter into the caller list - Press Up/Down key to choose the number to delete - Press the Delete key 16 DEL (ALL - Press the OK key again to confirm, or press Up/Down key to cancel the action. 10
CALLER LIST Delete all entries During On/Off-Hook: - Press the Up/Down key to enter into the caller list - Press the Delete key longer than 2 seconds DEL ALL - Press the OK key again to confirm, or press Up/Down key to cancel the action. 11
SETTINGS Date setting During standby mode: - Press and hold the OK key >2 seconds - Press Up/Down key to select the date setting DATE - Press OK to choose the setting. 21-1 12-00 The digits of date will flash - Press the Up/Down key to set the day - Press the OK key to save the day and jump to month setting - Press Up/Down key to set the month - Press the OK key to save the month and jump to hour setting - Press Up/Down key to set the hours - Press the OK key to save the hour and jump to minute setting - Press Up/Down key to set the minutes - Press the OK key to save the setting and get to idle mode By pressing the ESC key the setting will be exit with no action. Ringer setting Ringer volume The volume of the ringer can be switched with the key at the back of the phone. Three volume levels are possible. 12
SETTINGS Ringer tone During standby mode: - Press and hold the OK key >2 seconds - Press Up/Down key to select the ringer setting T0NE - Press OK to choose the setting. T0NE-1 - Press the Up/Down key to set the new ring - Press the OK key to save the setting. The ringer sound can be heard during selection. By pressing the ESC key the setting will be exit with no action. Flash setting During standby mode: - Press and hold the OK key >2 seconds - Press Up/Down key to select the flash setting FLASH - Press OK to choose the setting. 13
SETTINGS FLASH-100 - Press the Up/Down key to set the new flash time (100 or 300ms). - Press the OK key to save the setting. By pressing the ESC key the setting will be exit with no action. Reset1 This function will reset the whole device to factory setting (settings and memory) During standby mode: - Press and hold the OK key >2 seconds - Press Up/Down key to select the reset 1 RESET1 - Press OK to choose the setting. SURE - Press the OK key to set as factory default. By pressing the ESC key the setting will be exit with no action. Reset2 This function will reset the settings of the phone: date, time, ringer sound and flash time. During standby mode: - Press and hold the OK key >2 seconds - Press Up/Down key to select the reset 2 14

ANNEX Maintenance/Warranty Rental devices If your phone does not operate properly, notify Technical Assistance (phone number 175). The repair 1) and the fault action are free of charge. Purchased devices Repair services are performed frees of charge within the warranty period in accordance with the regulation of the warranty certificate. If a repair is necessary, the device must be returned to the place of purchase.
