Special Economic Zones (SEZ) The Government of Pakistan has passed the SEZ ACT 2012 The SEZ Act 2012 will help attract investment and promote better infrastructure which in turn will provide a platform to help grow the economy, create social cohesion, enhance the environment and deliver better public services. First Application submitted by SEZA for SEZ Status has been approved on 11th February 2014 Key Features of the ACT: One time exemption from all customs duties and taxes for Capital Goods imported for the development, operation and maintenance of SEZ entity as well as for the SEZ Enterprise. Exemption from all taxes on income accruable in relation to the development and operation of the SEZ as well as the Enterprise for a period of ten years.

Khairpur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) 136 acres of Land allocated for the establishment of a dedicated KSEZ near Sukkur, Sindh. The zone is being developed as a Future Hub for Agro processing and linked industry in the proximity of Dates, Banana, other horticulture producing area. Construction of Main Gate, Administrative Building, dedicated Police Station complete. Construction on other infrastructure components are in progress. Overall 75 percent work is complete Waste to Energy Captive Power Plant of 20 MW to be established to provide uninterrupted power supply to the enterprises within the zone. The Feasibility Study Done. Six Companies submitted their bids (Engro Powergen, Tapal, Gresham, Bilal Associates) FIRST Industrial park in Pakistan to have been awarded the SEZ Status under SEZ Act 2012
