Basic Procedure The workflow of collecting and viewing image data and logs are as follows. Install this product (Only for the fist time.) 1 Set [Mail making log settings] to [ON] in the [Admin. Settings] 2 Make a mail 3 Start the "RISO Mailing Log Viewer" 4 Load logs of the mail making jobs 5 Check the mail making result [Mail making log settings] is only displayed if it has been registered in advance. To register it, contact your dealer (or authorized service representative). According to the setting of [Admin. Settings], you can download log files to the computer. For details, see "Downloading the Log Files" (p. 12). 3
RISO Mailing Log Viewer Characteristics of the RISO Mailing Log Viewer Image data* and logs (feed paper information, print information, error logs, and mail ejection information) sent from an application are saved in the internal or external hard disk as encrypted files by job units. "RISO Mailing Log Viewer" is an application software dedicated for reading the stored image data and logs described above. This application displays the read image data and logs of inserts on the computer to check the mail making result. Error logs occurred when making mails can also be managed. * The data format of image data, which is output from the printer driver, is exclusive to this printer. Available memory space: 200 MB or more (sufficient space for OS operation) Resolution 1024 768 or more, High Color or more Installation Install "RISO Mailing Log Viewer" on the computer. Make the following procedure to install the software. Log on as a user with an administrative authority. Close all the active applications. 1 Set the supplied CD-ROM "RISO Mailing Log Viewer" in the CD- ROM drive of the computer. 2 Open the "MailingFinisherLogSoftware" folder in the CD-ROM and double click the "Setup.exe." file. 3 Select [English] from the pulldown menu and click [OK]. 4 Enter the SERIAL No. of the Mail maker and click [OK]. The SERIAL No. can be found on the rating name plate above the main power switch. 5 Click [Next] on the setup wizard screen. 6 Select [I accept the terms in the license agreement], and click [Next]. 7 Check the installation destination and click [Next]. To change the destination, click [Change] and select another destination on the [Change destination folder] screen. 8 Click [Install]. The installation starts. 9 Click [Done]. 10 Remove the CD-ROM from the computer. Please keep the removed CD-ROM safe. Uninstallation 1 Click [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Uninstall a program] of [Program] - [RISO Mailing Log Viewer] - [Delete]. Follow the instructions on the screen to uninstall. When finished, restart the computer. 5
Checking the Image Data and Logs of Inserts Starting the "RISO Mailing Log Viewer" 3 Select the log file (.zip) on the [Load the file] screen. The [Job Execution Result] screen is displayed. 1 Click [Start] - [All Programs] - [RISO] - [RISO Mailing Log Viewer]. For Windows 8/Windows 8.1, open the "Apps" screen, select [RISO] - [RISO Mailing Log Viewer]. Loading Logs of Mail Making Jobs Load image data and logs of mail making jobs. 1 Remove the external hard disk for log storing from the printer and connect it to the computer. If the log files have been downloaded in the computer, go to Step 2. If log files cannot be read or no external hard disk is connected, an error screen is displayed. If [Log display password] is set, enter the password. 2 Start the "RISO Mailing Log Viewer." 6
Checking the Mail Making Result 1 Check the contents of mail making jobs and execution result. On the [Job Execution Result] screen, job information, processing time, mail making result, and feed tray information are displayed. Each item is shown below. Checking the Image Data and Logs of Inserts 2 Check the results of the mail making job. Click [Open] of [Mail making result list view] to display the [Mail Making Result List] screen. Click a title to sort. The data can also be filtered. The sheet number (Sheet No.) will be consecutive in the job. The front and back shows the page numbers of thumbnails. For the duplex printing, the page numbers are displayed on the back. The execution content is displayed in the time order. If the job is stopped, all the content including the stopped time is displayed in the time order. The printing image (thumbnails) is displayed by mails in the enclosing order. The printing pages are displayed below the image. 4 Check the above thumbnail images (details) if required. Click the sheet number (Sheet No.) or thumbnail to display another window. The printing image can be enlarged, reduced, or displayed at 90-degree intervals. The [Mail Making Result List] screen displays the mail numbers, types, sheet numbers of inserts, making results, the time of starting/finishing printing. The finished mails are displayed in black and the others in red. The log can be selected line by line (for each mail) and the selected parts will be highlighted. For types, the sample printing is displayed as [Sample] and standard printing is displayed as [Standard]. For sheets, the number of finished sheets/ number of sheets instructed for printing are displayed. When a job is stopped due to an error regardless of mail making, the creation content before and after the stop is displayed without the mail number. 3 Check the printing results of inserts. Click the mail number to display the [Mail Making Result Detail] screen. You can check the printing result and thumbnail. The selected sheet number (Sheet No.) is highlighted. The rotated image can be displayed enlarged or reduced. 5 Store the displayed content of logs. 8
Menu Bar The menu bar consists of [File], [View], and [More]. Each menu has items related to the display function and settings. Administrator Settings (Mail maker Settings) This section describes the log collection of the mail making jobs performed by an administrator and the settings of stored log files. For details about Admin mode or Admin. Settings, see the printer's instruction guide. Mail Making Log Settings You can accumulate image data and logs of mail making jobs to manage the information of an insert error, insert fail, or if there is an error that occurs when printing. The image data and logs of mail making jobs are stored in the printer's internal hard disk or external hard disks and can be called with the dedicated application. A log holds records of processing content of mail making jobs and job information. Image data, which is output by the printer driver, means a data format exclusive for this printer. You can save mail making logs by selecting whether to acquire both image data and logs, or only logs. The collected log files can be downloaded from the RISO Console to the computer. For details, see "Downloading the Log Files" (p. 12). <Settings> Log collection setting Sets whether to collect the image data and logs of mail making jobs. To collect logs only, select [ON (Log)]. Settings: OFF, ON (Image+Log), ON (Log) (Factory setting: OFF) Log file location Sets the destination of the log. Settings: Internal HDD, External HDD (Factory setting: Internal HDD) Log file name Sets a file name to the logs of mail making jobs. When [Auto] is set, the file name is displayed with the job name and the date. Settings: Auto, Manual (Factory setting: Auto) Log display password Sets a password to the log file to be read on the RISO Mailing Log Viewer. Settings: 1 to 8 alphanumeric characters (only lowercase characters) (Factory setting: None (Blank)) To use the log function of mail making jobs, be sure to satisfy the following environment: The Mail maker is connected with the printer. When storing the log file in an external hard disk, an external hard disk for log storing is connected to the printer with a USB cable. [Mail making log settings] of the administrator settings is set to [ON]. Setting on the Operation Panel 1 Press [Mail making log settings] on the [Admin. Settings] screen. 2 Select [ON (Image+Log)] or [ON (Log)] on the Log collection setting. 10
3 Set the Log file location. When [ON (Image+Log)] is selected on the Log collection setting, the Log file location is set to [External HDD]. To store the data image and logs of mail making jobs, check the available capacity of the hard disk of Log file location. To check the available capacity on the hard disk, select [Status] - [System]. 5 Set a password of the log file if required. You can set a password to the log file to be read by the RISO Mailing Log Viewer. Press [Log display password] to display the [Log display pwd setting] screen. 4 Set the Log file name. Press [Log file name] to display the [Log file name setting] screen. Press [ON] and set [Log display password]. Specify a job name 1-8 characters long (only lowercase characters). 6 Press [OK] on the [Mail making log settings] screen. Press [Manual] to display the [Log file name] screen, and set a file name. You can specify a file name that is 1-16 characters long. When [Auto] is set, to avoid duplication of the file name, the name is made with characters and the creation date/time specified in [Log file name]. 11
Administrator Settings (Mail maker Settings) Downloading the Log Files The log files stored in the printer's internal hard disk or external hard disk can be downloaded from the RISO Console to the computer. 4 Put a check mark on a detailed log file (zip/prn/adr). 1 Start the RISO Console, click [Mail making log settings] in [Admin.]. 2 Click [Log retrieval] to display the log file list. Download the detailed log files (zip/prn/adr) one by one. 5 Click [Download]. 3 Select the log file you want to download, and click [Details]. If [Log display password] is set, enter the password. (See p. 10 "Log display password".) Putting check marks on [Log file] in the header line selects all the files. To delete the file, select the file and click [Delete]. 6 Click [Save]. Specify the destination folder and file name, and then click [Save]. The log file is saved in the specified folder in a computer. 7 To download all the detailed log files, repeat Steps 4 to 6. The log file is saved in the following formats: Logs only: zip file Images data: prn file Index file*: adr file * Used in the RISO Mailing Log Viewer. 12
