Navigating the COOLNet Alberta site is quite simple and intuitive, however this document is intended to give you a quick glimpse at the most common functions you will encounter while using the site and browsing through projects. To take full advantage of COOLNet Alberta, document viewing and other system features here are some helpful tips: 1. Enable Pop-ups in your Browser 2. Install Adobe Acrobat or an alternative PDF viewer of your choice http://get.adobe.com/reader/ 3. For faster download times try using Google Chrome or Firefox as your web browser 4. To use the optional SourceViewer to view, search, mark-up and perform take-off tasks download and install JAVA. https://www.java.com/en/download/
To log into the COOLNet Alberta site for the first time, access it through the Edmonton Construction Association website or by directly going to the plan room website. http:/www.coolnetalberta.com http://www.edmca.com
Every User in the system requires their own unique login and password. If you DON T have one you can contact your Local Construction Associationfor assistance or you can register on the login page once your access is approved you will receive a confirmation email. The administrative teams are generally able to set it up over the phone or set it up the same day.» Your FULL Name, Company, and Email Address are required. If you register on the site please note that is does take up to 48 hours to be granted full site access. Your membership does have to be verified and approved by our administrative team.
First time users will receive an email from their LCA Planroom with their User Name and Password. A second email will follow from Infinite Source asking for an Email Validation. Click the link and log in!
Once you login the site will open to the main page known as the Dashboard. We will look at the following components of the Dashboard home page to help navigate the site: Navigation tool bar My projects saved favorites list Bid Schedule Links Register for Project My Searches Quick Searches
Allows you to select which search criteria you want to use to find projects: Company, Dates, Location, Key word, Projects Shows a list of any Documents you ordered to be printed at the Association. Great for your records! Takes you back to main page Provides you with a PDF User guide Make sure you log off after you are done! If you don t the system will make you wait 45 minutes if you try to enter the site again. Opens a new window where you can select the criteria to make your own Plans on View (Project Report) Shows your account status, allows you to edit any user preferences, set up email notification and opportunity matching
This shows you a list of any projects you have saved or subscribed to. It is a quick link to access projects you are working on or are interested in. This must be managed by the user to add and delete favorites. If your company is working on a project it will be listed under Company Projects.
The Bid Schedule gives you a quick glance at a given month and selected day to see what projects are closing. Useful for helping to manage your time. Links Are any useful or helpful links the ECA would like to share with you.
This only pertains to private invite only projects. It is integrated with Infinite Source s On Demand system. If a General contractor invites you to view or bid on a private project a key code is usually sent out and this is where you would enter the code. Projects will then appear under your Invited Projects list in the My Projects area on the Dashboard
My Searches is a quick way to get filtered project lists based on: Posted Date Location Awarded and Bid Results Used most often! All new posted projects By clicking on any of the links it will open all related projects.
Similar to My Searches, the Project Quick Search is a more advanced search allowing you to add additional layers to your search. Enter search words for projects. The * is a wild card search so it will look for everything. Check boxes to Search Documents for Key Words and Exclude Archived projects. Default is all OPEN/CURRENT projects Once you have selected all the information you are looking for click Search. If you are just wanting to see NEW projects listed you can enter today s date.
Search results will display in the Project Browser. Sort them by clicking the headers at the top of the row. Click the project description to see the project sheet or click view to go directly to the documents. Add Project Favorite: project will appear on your My Projects list on your Dashboard Add Project Subscription: Select the projects you would like to be notified about if any changes are made Show Report: gives you a quick summary of the project (without docs). You can create your own project report to print by selecting any projects you want to see. The blue highlighted areas: Project Description shows you all project information, including docs. Docs if you click view, it takes you directly to the documents for that project. Click to select a project to add to favorites, subscribe to or show report If you click on any of the headers it will sort the information (by date, alphabetical or type).
To help make finding projects related to your scope of work easier COOLNet offers Email Notification & Opportunity Match. Type in key words for projects you are looking for. You can enter up to 10 words, and you will receive email notification any time that item is mentioned in a project title or scope. Any projects you have Subscribed to will be listed here. Email notification will be sent any time there is a change made. You can remove projects that are finished or you are no longer interested in.
Clicking the project description link opens a new page displaying detailed project information, documents, printing information and the option to add yourself to the bidders list.
When you click View Documents it will open to this page, where you can view, copy, print or order prints of the documents listed.
The Documents screen is an organized filing system to show all the documents pertaining to that project. The ECA Plan Room team do an excellent job cataloging all project documents so you can find what you are looking for. To view documents online use select viewing options to choose your preferred viewer. Expand the folders by clicking on the folder name Check the boxes in the select column to Order, Print or Download Documents Selecting Brower Default enables your system default applications to open the documents such as Adobe Acrobat. Selecting SourceViewer requires Java on your computer but gives you many tools to work with.
Ordering documents (specs and drawings) can be done by either selecting all the documents for that project or checking off only the ones you want printed. Select the items you would like to print and click the Order button. It will open a new screen that goes through: Billing Address - auto fills to the address we have on file Shipping Address - you can select the same as billing or enter a different one Print Options where do you want the items to be printed, paper size, binding, shipping info and note or PO s added. Confirm final step in placing your order. DID YOU KNOW? Many LCAs are pleased to offer in house printing for their members. Contact your Local Construction Association for pricing.
If you select SourceViewer to look at drawings or documents you are then able to: Use the integrated take-off tools Mark up documents with notes and annotations Print locally with or without your annotations Export take offs to a spread sheet Search for text in specifications by clicking the search button and typing in words you d like to search for.

Counting Tool Text Tool Custom Stamp Tool Search for Text in a PDF Tips for using these tools: Set your preferences first to make sure you have the colors and font size you want. (These will be saved till you change them again.) To finalize a measurement line/segment/area or counter double-click to end it and add it to the spreadsheet tracker at the bottom of the page. (These can be customized and exported) Any marking you have done can be saved and viewed later or printed off. If you are about to move to a new document it will prompt you to save or clear.
Use the tool bar along the top to zoom in/out, add notes, highlight or print. Markings, highlighting and text can all be done right on the drawing. If you close SourceViewer it will ask if you want to save your annotations. Click on documents you want to view. Any annotations made on the drawing are tracked on a spread sheet below. This can be exported to Excel. Double click the Description box on each line to show what you are measuring. If you want to delete markings you have made you can so do by right clicking on the line item and selecting delete.
Exporting Take off Information: Any of the makings, measurements or counts done on a drawing can be exported to Excel. Click the Export Button on the top Tool Bar. You will see a pop-up screen asking you how you would like this information exported. Format: HTML views it Online. Excel Spread Sheet allows you to us it in Excel. Export to: File saves it as its own file to your computer. Clipboard allows you to past it in a spread sheet you have open.
Use the tool bar along the top to zoom in/out, add notes, highlight or print. Use the Search Documents feature to scan the document for key words. The pages numbers, and links to the pages, will help you quickly find information. Click on documents you want to view. You can flip through pages or enter into a page you are looking for.
Once you have searched projects, printed, downloaded, viewed and used the take off tools, you might be interested in seeing the Tender Results. Go back to the dashboard or main page. If you have a project saved in your favorites that is closed, bids have been submitted and the project has been awarded, then you can open the project to view the results. If you want to search and view all the projects where Bid Results are posted, or to view all the Awarded projects, use the Project Quick Search. Check boxes to Search Documents for Key Words and Exclude Archived projects. Make sure you filter the Status to show Bid Results or Awarded Projects.
Bid Results Search Bid Results: Everyone that bid on the project will be listed in order of their Bid Value. Awarded Search Awarded: The company that has been awarded the project will be listed along with the Bid Value
