Using Checkpoint Engage Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Engage and AdvanceFlow (separate license required) provide a completely integrated cloud-based solution for enterprise audit firms. For information on getting started before proceeding with implementation and product use, please refer to the separate document Getting Started Checkpoint Engage Integrated with AdvanceFlow. All documentation and up-to-date product support information is available from our Customer Help Center at http://support.checkpoint.thomsonreuters.com. Login to www.advanceflow.com with your AdvanceFlow username and password. This document provides instruction on using Checkpoint Engage functionality, and assumes basic knowledge of AdvanceFlow functionality. To link Checkpoint Engage to AdvanceFlow, you will use your Checkpoint username and email address (more info below). Add New Client Engagement To add new client engagement in AdvanceFlow with Checkpoint Engage integration: 1. Click Add Engagement icon at top of AdvanceFlow Engagements pane. 2. Select a client name and click next. 3. On the Add Engagement screen, select Checkpoint Engage from the source list for External Integration, and select New from the source list for Engagement, and click next. After completing the remaining AdvanceFlow add engagement screens, a yellow warning bar will now appear on the Workpapers tab and a message will be displayed indicating Checkpoint Engage setup is pending, click here to begin. (Click Refresh if the link is not yet active.) In the Checkpoint Log In dialog box, enter your Checkpoint username and your email address for that username in the fields as prompted. This is not your password your email address associated with your Checkpoint username. It is only necessary to enter the Checkpoint Login one time, which then links the Checkpoint login with the Advanceflow log in. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 4

Set up the New Customer Engagement 1 Industry 1. Source: New 2. Engagement Type: Checkpoint Engage (Audit) 3. Industry: Select from your list of licensed industry content (Nonpublic, Nonprofit, Local Government, etc.) 4. Click Next The industry selected determines which audit areas and setup questions appear in the remainder of the engagement setup. Planning forms and audit programs are automatically tailored based on answers to setup questions. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 6
Quick Start If you select Quick Start you would begin the audit with a complete set of practice aids and audit programs that are developed by our authors and pre-tailored for the unique characteristics of small noncomplex entities. Checkpoint Engage Modules Select the modules to include in the engagement. You will only see the modules that are licensed. 2 Audit Areas Select the audit areas to be included in the engagement. Add Checkpoint Engage Integration to an Existing Client Engagement in AdvanceFlow This process is used after an engagement is already created in AdvanceFlow. For example, after converting engagements from other engagement software, and folders and workpapers already exist in the engagement. 1. Open the AdvanceFlow Engagement Properties of the Engagement that you would like to link. 2. Click on the Content tab 3. Select Checkpoint Engage from the integration source drop-down. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 13
Proceed thru Checkpoint Engage setup as indicated in preceding instructions to create a new engagement. After Checkpoint Engage setup on an existing engagement, there will be duplication of folders, as the Checkpoint Engage documents are automatically included in folders that are created in the process. For example, if the engagement already had a folder titled Cash, the Checkpoint Engage set up created another folder titled Cash with the Checkpoint Engage documents. For this first time setup, drag and drop the document to the folders you prefer for this engagement. Delete the remaining unused folders. In subsequent years, the folders and documents will rollforward. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 14
Change SMART Practice Aids Integration to Checkpoint Engage on an Existing Client Engagement in AdvanceFlow To unlink an engagement that has already been linked to SMART, and link that engagement to Checkpoint Engage, change the external integration source from SMART Practice Aids to Checkpoint Engage on the Content tab of AdvanceFlow Engagement Properties. Follow preceding instructions to setup Checkpoint Engage. Best practice suggestion is to change integration source when beginning a new engagement period. It is not recommended to change from SMART to Checkpoint Engage in the middle of current engagement work. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 15
Remove Checkpoint Engage Integration on an Existing Client Engagement in AdvanceFlow To unlink an engagement that has already been linked to Checkpoint Engage, on the Content tab of AdvanceFlow Engagement Properties, select None for external integration source. Be sure this is what you really want to do, as all Checkpoint Engage data in the engagement will be deleted. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 16
Checkpoint Engage Properties To make changes to Checkpoint Engage audit area selections and set up questions, select Checkpoint Engage Properties icon at top of AdvanceFlow Engagements pane. Checkpoint Engage Setup window appears with options to: Edit engagement setup Rollforward Checkpoint Engage data Import an existing engagement from PPC s SMART Practice Aids Edit engagement setup to make changes to audit areas and setup questions. Open a Checkpoint Engage document for editing in one of three ways: 1. Double click on the document. 2. Select the document and then click the Edit icon on the Workpapers menu. 3. Select the document, right click and then select Edit on the right click menu. The document opens in another window with Checkpoint Engage functionality. For better viewing, maximize the Checkpoint Engage window AdvanceFlow will remain open in the previous window. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 18
Navigation Icons SAVE save your work as you go, there is no auto save. VIEW/EDIT when multiple users are working in the same engagement, toggle between view and edit mode on forms. (Current engagement status is shown in top left.) PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS toggle between show and hide. IDENTIFIED RISKS toggle between show and hide right pane. Identified Risks Enter identified risk information, click CONTINUE to select assertions affected by the risk. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 22
Assess Risk Click Assess Risk in top menu area to access risk assessment for an audit area. Complete risk assessment by making selections from drop down list for inherent risk and control risk. Assessed risk of material misstatement is automatically selected, change if needed. Enter comments to document risk assessment decisions, describing linkage of risks to procedures performed. Click blue text for definitions and help associated with that item. On the column heading, click once for pop up window with help text, click once again to close pop up window. Design Audit Programs Click Design Audit Programs in top menu area to select audit program. Tailor audit programs further using icons to add, edit, drag and drop, to respond to risks. The left pane includes all available procedures for an area. The right pane includes selected procedures for an area. Procedures in the left pane in light gray text are included in right pane. Procedures in the left pane in dark black text are available and not included in the right. Include or remove procedures using click and drag between left and right. The orange vertical bar shows current cursor location. Click Practical Considerations icon to view/hide practical considerations. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 24
Icons in left pane Copy a procedure from another area by selecting the area from the drop down in left pane. Expand all by clicking the icon with right facing triangle. Filter icon is used to select procedures to show in left pane. Icons in right pane Expand all by clicking the icon with right facing triangle. Edit a procedure using pencil icon. Add a custom procedure using icon Flag when available, shows previous version of procedure before edits or rollforward. Delete allows deletion of custom procedure. To remove a procedure included in the industry content, drag it to the left pane. Deselect icons allows deselecting one or more procedure, same as drag and drop. Filter is used to select procedures to show in right pane. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 25
Linkage View Select Linkage View icon to display audit procedures for a selected assertion, to better assist you with tailoring audit procedures to respond to risks. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 26
Tailor audit programs further in Linkage View (filtered by assertion). As you proceed thru the audit process, you can easily navigate to any form or area and make changes to planning forms, risk assessment, and audit programs. All changes dynamically flow throughout the forms. To add or change a risk, go back to planning form in Identify Risk area. Completion View Enable Completion View by selecting icon. Select Step Sign Off from drop down at top of Performed by column. You can also use right click functionality in the cell. Edit and Delete Sign Off Step is available on an existing sign off. Sign Off properties use AdvanceFlow user properties. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 27
Unsigned Procedures Select the Unsigned icon on audit programs to show unsigned procedures. The icon can be used to show or hide the blue shading on unsigned procedures. Workpaper Index Select Add Workpaper Reference from drop down at top of Workpaper Index column, and select a workpaper that exists in the AdvanceFlow folder. Select Add Document to add new document to the engagement. The new document will be added to the AdvanceFlow folder. Right click functionality is also available within the cell. Comment Field Use the Comment Field to add comments to document procedure work. You can navigate thru any area, or close at any time in the workflow process. You can select any Checkpoint Engage document from any AdvanceFlow folder and edit. Using View from AdvanceFlow will open the Checkpoint Engage engagement in read only mode. Diagnostic Report To run diagnostic report, select Diagnostics icon from Checkpoint Engage section of AdvanceFlow. Click the form title in blue text to open that form. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 32
Guide Me The purpose of Guide Me is to provide a visual snapshot of engagement progress in terms of percent complete relative the number of workpaper level or procedure level signoffs. By selecting the Guide Me icon on the AdvanceFlow toolbar, the application will direct the user to the Guide Me screen. On this screen, the user can access engagement workpapers via a hyperlink link for planning forms and audit programs. The user can also add comments, view static notes and diagnostics for the engagement. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 33
Add Checkpoint Engage Documents Select Add Workpaper icon in AdvanceFlow then Select Checkpoint Engage as Source. This process should be used to add any PPC document from the industry title used to create the engagement. Select document(s) and click Next. Enter the Workpaper Reference and Rollforward properties on the next screen. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 34
The document is added to the engagement. Checklists and Practice Aids are added in Checkpoint Engage format. Letters, reports, and a few selected practice aids are added in Word format. Delete Planning Forms Use AdvanceFlow functionality to delete Checkpoint Engage planning forms. Use the delete icon from menu or right click on the document and delete. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 35
Confirm the delete question. The document is moved to the recycle bin. Right click on recycle bin folder and empty recycle bin. Confirm the delete question. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 36
If a planning form was deleted that previously appeared on identify risk area of Checkpoint Engage, the document will also be deleted from that location. Do not delete risk assessment summary forms or audit programs using Advanceflow delete workpaper functionality. To make changes to selected audit areas, use Checkpoint Engage Properties, selected from the AdvanceFlow engagements pane on left side, to make changes to selected audit areas. Risk assessment forms and audit programs will be included or excluded according to those selections. Add Checkpoint Tools Documents Best practice recommendation is to use Checkpoint Engage as the source of PPC documents from the industry title that was used to create the engagement. You may add documents from other Checkpoint Tools titles. Thomson Reuters Virtual Office users must have Checkpoint Tools installed on your local computer or server in order to add Checkpoint Tools documents to an engagement in AdvanceFlow. AdvanceFlow does not integrate with Checkpoint Tools on Virtual Office. Select Add Workpaper icon in AdvanceFlow, Select Checkpoint Tools as Source, select the document. Add SMART Docs to an Existing Client Engagement in AdvanceFlow that is linked to Checkpoint Engage To use Checkpoint Engage, you must link the client engagement in AdvanceFlow. Some firms are also using the desktop version of SMART Practice Aids for Single Audit, Compilation and Review, Disclosure, Internal Control. Documents generated from SMART can be added to an engagement linked to Checkpoint Engage by adding the workpaper from an external source. A SMART engagement cannot be linked to a Checkpoint Engage engagement. In the Thomson Reuters Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, select a folder on your local drive, not a folder on Virtual Office server. In the AdvanceFlow client engagement, Select Add Workpaper icon, Select External as Source, browse and select the document. After the document is added to the AdvanceFlow client engagement, delete the document from the folder location on your computer, so that you don t maintain a duplicate copy of the document. Document Generation Use AdvanceFlow functionality to create a bookmarked PDF of an engagement that includes Checkpoint Engage documents. Complete selections and options to save document to local computer, and to store copy in GoFileRoom. Remove Practical Considerations from Generated Documents Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 39
Finalize an Engagement Once an engagement is finalized Guide Me and Diagnostic pages are locked for editing. The message This cannot be modified when engagement is finalized will be present at the top of the page. Rollforward Users have the ability roll forward master engagements and the application will synchronize AdvanceFlow and Checkpoint Engage workpaper roll forward options. This section of instructions will focus on rollforward of Checkpoint Engage documents. To initiate rollforward in AdvanceFlow, select Administration from AdvanceFlow Engagement Properties. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 40
The Workpaper Roll Forward Settings dialog provides a list of all workpapers in the engagement. You can view or edit the roll-forward properties that were originally set up in the Workpaper Properties dialog for each workpaper in the engagement. For Checkpoint Engage documents, the only roll forward properties setting is Exclude. This is correct at this point, as the rollforward of Checkpoint Engage documents will execute following the AdvanceFlow rollforward. To edit the roll-forward properties for multiple workpapers, hold the SHIFT or CTRL key and click to select multiple workpapers, right-click, and choose Properties from the context menu. Proceed thru the remaining screens to complete AdvanceFlow rollforward. Checkpoint Engage with AdvanceFlow 41

3 Audit Area Rollforward Options On this screen, options are presented to select on each audit area to bring forward the prior period audit program intact (this means the exact audit program from prior period), or regenerate (to start with the current period audit program with updated content).
