IINTTRODUCTTIION BTR140 is a class 1 Bluetooth transceiver module in PCB form, which is composed of Bluetooth baseband and RF amplifier, Bluetooth lower protocol stack, USB HCI 1, UART HCI 1, Bluetooth upper protocol stack 1, serial port profile (SPP) 1, headset profile (HSP) 1, handsfree profile (HFP) 1, dial up profile (DUN) 1, FAX profile (FAX) 1 and module application program 1. The size of the module is 15.0mm x 30.0mm x 2.8mm. The transceiver module can perform the complete Bluetooth operation including the service discovery, connection making and authentication. It provides an UART 1 /USB 1 interface for host communication via which the host can control, configure and communicate the Bluetooth transceiver. It also provides PCM CODEC interface to connect to an external CODEC to provide two-way audio communication. Using this module, users need not purchase or license expensive Bluetooth upper protocol stack. Without needing deep know-how of Bluetooth technology, users are able to adopt Bluetooth technology easily into their products at very short time. 1 : Depends on the firmware used SUGGEESSTTEED APPPPLLIICATTIIONSS Mobile phones PDAs Domestic and industrial appliances Computer accessories Metering MODULLEE HARDWAREE ARCHIITTEECTTUREE Codec UART/USB/ PIO Interface Bluetooth Chip Set Class 1 Radio Front End To Antenna BTR140 Flash Memory
FIIRMWAREE OPPTTIIONSS 1. BTR140-H2 BTR140-H2 consists of Bluetooth USB-HCI protocol stack without Bluetooth upper stacks, e.g. L2CAP and RFCOMM. USB-HCI Baseband, LM RF This H2 allows host to communicate with the Bluetooth transceiver via standard USB link v1.1. To complete the Bluetooth application design, the host should be implemented with Bluetooth upper stacks and application programs. BTR140-H2 is an ideal component for making PC USB adapter. 2. BTR140-H4-XXX BTR140-H4 consists of Bluetooth UART-HCI protocol stack without Bluetooth upper stacks, e.g. L2CAP and RFCOMM. UART-HCI Baseband, LM RF This H4 allows host communicates with the Bluetooth transceiver via standard UART link. To complete the Bluetooth application design, the host should be implemented with Bluetooth upper stacks and application programs. BTR140-H4 is an ideal component for a host running its own Bluetooth upper stacks. XXX specifies the required speed when you order the BTR140-H4. The available speeds for BTR140-UART are 9.6k, 19.2k, 38.4k, 57.6k, 115.2k, 230.4k, 460.8k, and 921.6kbps.
3. BTR140-SPP-XXX The BTR140-SPP consists of complete Bluetooth protocol stacks (including L2CAP, SDP and RFCOMM), serial port profile (SPP), dialup profile (DUN), FAX profile and serial port application program. The serial port application program of BTR140-SPP is designed to make BTR140-SPP work as serial cable replacement unit. Its interface provides host, e.g. MCU, with both UART communication and the Bluetooth transceiver control. Serial Port Application Program SPP, DUN & FAX GAP SDP RFCOMM L2CAP Baseband, LM RF Host E.g. MCU UART Control bus BTR140-SPP A number of Bluetooth standard features are available to use by issuing commands from host such as inquiry, security, search and etc. Its main application is to allow a device to have wireless serial cable by integrating BTR140-SPP as a component. BTR140-SPP can run as an independent unit without the needing of Bluetooth driver to be installed in host. XXX specifies the required speed when you order the BTR140-SPP. The available baud rates for BTR140-SPP are 1.2K, 2.4K, 4.8K, 9.6k, 19.2k, 38.4k, 57.6k and 115.2kbps.
4. BTR140-BSC-XXX The BTR140-BSC consists of complete Bluetooth protocol stacks (including L2CAP, SDP and RFCOMM), serial port profile (SPP), dialup profile (DUN), FAX profile and serial port application program. The serial port application program of BTR140-BSC is designed to make BTR140-BSC work as serial cable replacement unit. Serial Port Application Program SPP, DUN & FAX SDP GAP RFCOMM L2CAP Baseband, LM RF Its interface provides host with UART communication and allow it to be control via simple digital interface, e.g. RS232 Transceiver, Switch and LED. RS232 Transceiver, Switches, LEDs UART Control bus BTR140-BSC Some advanced features are not available in order to keep the simplicity of using digital interface. A pair of BTR140-BSC together with a RS232 Transceiver, switches and LEDs can form as a wireless serial cable. Any device having RS232 port can be converted into Bluetooth device using a pair of BTR140-BSC. XXX specifies the required speed when you order the BTR140-BSC. The available baud rates for BTR140-BSC are 1.2k, 2.4k, 4.8k, 9.6k, 19.2k, 38.4k, 57.6k and 115.2kbps.
5. BTR140-HSP The BTR140-HSP can execute custom Bluetooth headset firmware, together with an audio CODEC, e.g. the Motorola MC145483, buttons, LED s, and power management hardware; a cost effective headset is formed.
