Verify System Requirements Verify that the recommended system requirements are met before installing OASIS Mobile (Web-to-Go). If you are using a Mac, please contact the Help Desk for the OASIS Mobile on a Mac instructions, which you will need first before proceeding with this installation guide. Requirement Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 32-bit Vista, or 32-bit 7 Pentium 4 processor (or equivalent) at 2 GHz or above 1 GB RAM (minimum) 10 GB available hard disk space (minimum) How to Check Right-click on My Computer and select Properties. The Windows version, processor, and RAM will be listed under the General tab. (1 GB = 1000 MB) Screen Resolution 1024x768 (minimum) 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Display. 2. Click the Settings tab. The Screen Resolution slider will display your current screen resolution settings. Slide it to adjust settings. High-speed Internet connection Check with your Internet Service Provider.
Requirement Internet Explorer 5.5 and above How to Check Open Internet Explorer and go to the Help menu. (If you don t see a Help menu, press the Alt key.) Select About Internet Explorer. Adobe Reader 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. 2. If Adobe Reader is not listed, download it for free from this website: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Java 1.5.0 with automatic updates disabled 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Go to Tools menu > Internet Options. 3. On the General tab in the Browsing history section (or Temporary Internet files section), click Settings. 4. Click View objects. Is Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 listed? If any version above 1.5.0 is listed (e.g., 1.6), go to section B. Uninstall Java on page 3. If only a lower version or no Java Runtime Environment is listed, the correct version will automatically be installed during OASIS Mobile installation. Go to section C. Configure Internet Explorer on page 3. If version 1.5.0 is listed (additional versions less than 1.5.0 may also be listed), proceed to the next step. 5. Double-click Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0. Is the status Installed? If it is installed, go to section C. Configure Internet Explorer on page 3. If it is not installed, go to section B. Uninstall Java on page 3. How to Disable Automatic Updates 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Update tab. 2. Unselect Check for Updates Automatically. When prompted to confirm your decision, click Never Check. Click OK. B. Uninstall Java (If Java 1.5.0 or an earlier version is already installed, skip this section and go to section C. Configure Internet Explorer below. Instructions for how to identify which version of Java is installed are in the System Requirements Table beginning on page 1.) 1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. 2. Select the Java component (e.g., starts with Java or J2SE ). 3. Click Remove and follow the onscreen instructions, if any. 4. If there are other Java components, repeat the previous two steps until they have all been removed. 5. Proceed to section C. Configure Internet Explorer below. C. Configure Internet Explorer 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Go to the Tools menu > Internet Options > Security tab. Click on Trusted Sites (the big green checkmark). 3. In the Security level for this zone section, click Default level. Then, drag the slider control down to the bottom (Low). 4. Click the Sites button. 5. Uncheck Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone. 6. In the text field under Add this website to the zone:, type *.nsf.org (without the quotes), click Add, and click Close. 7. 8. Uncheck Automatically detect intranet network, make sure the checkboxes below it are all checked, and click OK. 9. In the Internet Options window, click the Privacy tab. Click Settings in the Pop-up Blocker section. 10. Add *.nsf.org in the Address of website to allow field, click Add, and click Close. 1. Under the Programs tab, click Manage addons. Single-click on a pop-up blocker add-on in the list (e.g., any items with Yahoo or Google in the name or any other add-ons that you know to be pop-up blockers) and click Disable. Repeat until all such add-ons are disabled. When done, click OK, then OK. 11. In the Internet Options window, click the Advanced tab. 12. Make sure the following checkboxes are not checked: [Browsing section] Reuse windows for launching shortcuts 13. Make sure the following checkboxes are checked: [HTTP 1.1 settings section] Use HTTP 1.1 14. Click OK. Last Updated: 24 September 2010 (v8.2) 4
II. Install OASIS Mobile 1. At the http://mobilesetup.nsf.org website, click the Download button. 2. Click Run and the download will begin. 3. When the download is complete, click Run again. 4. If a security screen appears, click Allow, Yes, or OK. 5. Enter your OASIS Mobile username and password. NOTE: Your OASIS Mobile password is different from your OASIS Online password. 6. Click OK to select the Current User. 7. The software must be installed to C:\mobileclient. This is usually the default location. However, if your computer has multiple hard drive partitions, it may default to another location. Change it to the above location, if necessary. Click OK. 8. Click Yes to create this directory if it does not already exist. NOTE: If a message appears stating, Oracle Lite Web-to-go requires a TCP/IP port number to run, just click OK. You will see the application installing. This may take several minutes depending on the speed and quality of your Internet connection. Click OK or Exit. NOTE: If one or more messages appear stating, Windows Firewall has blocked some features of this program, just click Allow access. Last Updated: 24 September 2010 (v8.2) 6
9. If an Information Bar appears (a pale yellow bar across the top of the webpage), click it and select Enable Intranet Settings. 10. When prompted if you want to turn on intranet level security settings, click Yes. 11. Type your OASIS Mobile username and password again and click Logon. 12. Click Next to install and synchronize the application files. NOTE: Synchronization the first time can take 15 to 20 minutes. Please allow the process to finish. 13. A new window will open displaying a shortcut to OASIS Mobile. Close both windows. 14. A Web-to-Go shortcut is now on the desktop. When you double click on this icon, the OASIS Mobile logon page will appear. Web-to-Go.url 15. Click Applications in the upper right corner and click the Oasis Mobile link. OASIS Mobile will open. WINDOWS VISTA USERS: A Program Compatibility Assistant window might appear stating This program might not have installed correctly. If so, click This program installed correctly. 16. When you need to synchronize your audit and calendar information in the future, click Sync. NOTE: The process may stay at a certain percentage for a few minutes before completing. This is normal. 17. III. Install Spelling Check 1. Connect the computer to the Internet. 2. Click Spelling Check in the upper right corner of OASIS. A download website for iespell will appear. 3. Click one of the Download now! links. If you are in the United States, one of the first four links are recommended. The last one is best for those in or near the UK. An install page will then display which will vary in the way it looks based on which link you selected. 4. Click the appropriate download now or install link. 5. A File Download dialog box will appear. Click Run. The security setup on your computer may require you to click Run in two windows. The installation will begin. 6. When a license agreement window appears, click I Agree. 7. When prompted for a destination folder, just click Install. The installer will run. 8. If it asks about updates, you can click No. 9. A window will appear stating, Installation has completed! Click OK. You have now installed the Spelling Check feature for OASIS. Last Updated: 24 September 2010 (v8.2) 9
IV. Uninstall OASIS Mobile 1. Synchronize OASIS Mobile first, if possible. To do so, click Sync. 2. Go to Start > Programs > Oracle Database Lite 10g > De-install Web-togo. 3. When asked if you want to de-install Oracle Lite WEB, click Yes. 4. Have you entered any audit data (answers, comments, etc.) since your last successful sync? If you have any questions about how to answer this question, please contact the Help Desk (+1 734-913- 5700, helpdesk@nsf.org). a. If yes (you have entered audit data since the last successful sync), select Keep Database file(s). b. If no (you have not entered audit data since the last successful sync), select Delete Database file(s). 5. Click OK. The application has now been removed. NOTE: If you need to reinstall OASIS Mobile, continue to section II. Install OASIS Mobile on page 5. V. Reinstall OASIS Mobile 1. Uninstall OASIS Mobile. (See IV. Uninstall OASIS Mobile above for details.) 2. Install OASIS Mobile. (See III. Install Spelling Check on page 9 for details.) VI.
