The module connector s 2 x 100-pin Hirose connectors provide capacitive touch LCD, MIPI DSI, HDMI and USB 3.0, as well as low-speed GPIO and serial communication buses. IOT x86 Joule Gateway 3 1.2.2 ZigBee (v5) (3) ZigBee transeivers, Compliant with IEEE standard 802.15.4, provide low-rate wireless personal area networks (LP-WPANs) with reduced power consumption. The ZigBee tranciever module includes a Silicon Labs ETRX357 zigbee Radio Module and communicates on a UART bus to the compute device on a Geppetto board. Technical documentation for the ETRX357 is available at: http://www.silabs.com/documents/public/reference-manuals/tg-pm-0516-etrx35x.pdf This module is connected to UART0 on Intel R Joule TM Module Connector (1). 1.2.3 Z-Wave Wireless Modem (v1) (4) FULLY INTEGRATED Z-WAVE WIRELESS MODEM WITH ON-BOARD ANTENNA This module is connected to UART1 on Intel R Joule TM Module Connector (1). 1.3 Power 1.3.1 Real Time Clock (v9) (5) This real-time clock backup is powered by a 6mm coin cell battery. The MI DS1340 RTC is programmed over I2C and is connected to a crystal oscillator at 32.8 khz. NOTE: The RTC IC used in this module is trickle-charge capable. Only NiCd cells should be used if this feature is enabled. It is capable of accepting an input voltage between 3.1 to 16V DC and output is controlled by the TI TPS6211 buck regulator. It recieves 5.0V from Barrel Connector (5V 3A) (6). IOT x86 Joule Gateway 4 1.4 Power Connectors 1.4.1 Barrel Connector (5V 3A) (v7) (6) This power jack is compatible with Gumstix 5V/3.5A DC power adapter using a 4.0mm x 1.7mm barrel connector. It provides more current than a standard 5V DC power supply, suitable for use with multiprocessor designs. This power jack provides 5V to the following modules: Intel R Joule TM Module Connector (1) 3.3V/1.5A Regulator (8) Joule Fan Connector (Vertical) (10) 1.5 USB 1.5.1 USB mini-b (Vertical) (v5) (7) The vertical USB mini-b jack module is a USB port that allows this design to be connected as a USB device to an upstream USB host using a USB mini-b to standard-a cable. It is mounted at a right angle to the board for vertical insertion. This USB mini-b port is connected to USB DEVICE on USB-UART (9). 1.6 Connectivity 1.6.1 USB-UART (v16) (9) Also known as an FTDI, this USB to UART converter allows a USB connection to the board to behave as a virtual RS232 serial connection. It offers direct and complete access to the system from a development machine by way of the FTDI FT232RQ USB UART IC. IOT x86 Joule Gateway 5 1.8 IO 1.8.1 Tactile Switch (v15) (11) This 4.9 sq. mm pull-down touch switch provides a user input for the signal GPIO272 on Intel R Joule TM Module Connector (1). 1.8.2 Top-side LED (v3) (12) The top-side LED module contains a 1608 standard size LED of a user-selected color, mounted on the top side of a Geppetto board. The LED is active-high on GPIO378 from Intel R Joule TM Module Connector (1). 1.8.3 Top-side LED (v3) (13) The top-side LED module contains a 1608 standard size LED of a user-selected color, mounted on the top side of a Geppetto board.
