Server Installation Make sure that your remote support software (Terminal Services or Citrix) is installed, configured, and ready for our Support Specialists prior to installation. 1. Install Microsoft SQL Server (Express, Standard or Workgroup). If you are installing Express, you will find the installation file (SQLEXPR.exe) in the SQL Express folder of your installation CD. 2. When prompted, select Mixed Mode authentication and set a strong SA password. 3. Create a directory on the hard drive that will be shared by all users and name it ISSWindows. 4. Share the ISSWindows directory and name it ISSWindows. 5. Set the permissions so that all workstations and users have modify access to this directory 6. Run ServerSetup.exe on the ISS Master CD. In this field Enter: Destination Location The ISSWindows share directory Server Name User Name Server Type Standards Location The name of your SQL Server as it appears in the network identification of the System Control Panel The user name for your SQL Server for use with ISS. For details on SQL login permissions required for ISS, see Appendix B of the System Manager Module User s Guide. For details on setting up SQL logins, refer to the documentation from Microsoft available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/sql/default.aspx. 1 for Microsoft SQL 7.0/MSDE or higher This defaults to \\ServerName\ShareName where ServerName is the server name and ShareName is ISSWindows 7. Install the ISS client by running SetupSpX.exe (where X is the latest SP version) from the ISSWindows share directory. 8. Accept the defaults. 9. When prompted for desktop icons: Select: Yes For this desktop icon: ISS with AutoUpdate
Select: For this desktop icon: Integrated Software Series VNC Setup 10. When prompted, install ADO 2.6 unless it is already installed. 11. When prompted, install Java Virtual Machine UNLESS your server is running Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Professional. If so, click. 12. If you installed ADO 2.6, reboot the server. 13. Enable TCP/IP in SQL Server 2005 Services and restart the server. 14. Launch the software using, ISS with Auto Update (either from desktop icon or through Start Menu). If a service pack is available, then you will see a prompt. 15. Enter your SQL Server Login information. After you have logged into the ISS software you can set this information in the ISS Settings. Refer to the System Manager Module User s Guide for details. 16. Next, you will be prompted to create the ISS_Master database. Click Yes. 17. When the login screen appears, log in with the administration user name and password (provided with your installation CD). 18. On the Module menu, point to File and click Update Security. 19. On the Module menu, point to System Manager and click Distribution System. 20. Click Next, select FTP and enter your user name and password (provided with your installation CD). The system will then check to see if databases need to be updated. 21. Click Next and Next again. 22. You will be prompted to copy to files to the share directory. Click Next again. 23. The system will copy additional files to the share directory and when finished, display a message box. 24. Exit ISS and re launch the software using ISS with Auto Update. The Auto Updater should start. This will copy files from the share directory to the Local Machine. When the Auto Updater is complete, a login screen will display. 25. Log in with the administration user name and password (provided with your installation CD). 26. The next step is either to create a new database or restore a database given to you from Solana. Refer to the System Manager Module User s Guide for instructions. 27. Finally, you will create a database group and assign the new database to it. Refer to the System Manager Module User s Guide for instructions.

Complete the server installation before attempting workstation installation. 1. Verify that the workstation s operating system is updated with the latest stable service pack. 2. Verify Internet Explorer 4.01 with Service Pack 2 or higher is installed on each workstation. 3. Run SetupSpX.exe (where X is the latest SP version) from the ISSWindows share directory. 4. Accept the defaults. 5. When prompted for the Update Location, enter the share directory in this format \\ServerName\ShareName where ServerName is the server name and ShareName is ISSWindows. 6. When prompted for desktop icons: Select: Yes For this desktop icon: ISS with AutoUpdate Integrated Software Series VNC Setup 7. When prompted, install ADO 2.6 unless it is already installed. 8. When prompted, install Java Virtual Machine UNLESS this PC is running Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Professional. If so, click Cancel. 9. Reboot the workstation. 10. Launch the software using ISS with Auto Update. If a Service Pack is available, then you will get a prompt. The Auto Updater will start and will copy files from the share directory to the workstation. When the Auto Updater is complete, the login screen will display. The installation is complete. The Auto Update feature works in conjunction with the Distribution System to ensure all workstations and servers are running the latest version of the Integrated Software Series. Technical issues may present themselves if workstations and servers are not running the same version of the Integrated Software Series. We suggest that you force users to run the software through the ISS with Auto Update icon on the desktop to eliminate this issue...................................................................... 4
