SIGNING IN AS SCHOOL STAFF To access Naviance Succeed you will need: Account Name (i.e.miramesa) all lowercase, no spaces Username (your employee ID) Password (your DWA password) When your account is created you should receive an e- mail with your log-in information. If you have not received an e-mail with log-in info contact your School Site Manager to request a user account. To sign in to Naviance: https://succeed.naviance.com Enter your credentials Click Sign In button Note: School Site Managers manage roles & rights, add new staff users, inactive staff no longer at sites

WORKING WITH STUDENT INFORMATION Add a sample student (do not add to Class of 2016) Go to Students and click Add Student (on blue banner at top) Enter info for your sample student. Required info is name and gender. Click Add Student (at bottom of page) Your sample student is now in your student roster Search for a Student Go to Students and click Student Roster (on blue banner at top) On the left side you can control what student roster you view (by class of or grade level) You can find students by clicking on the letters at the top, or on the left side you can type in the last name, first name and click go, or on the top right blue banner click Student Search

PARENT/GUARDIAN LOG-IN Parents/Guardians can access Naviance Family Connection through their PowerSchool Parent Account Once the parent has logged into their PowerSchool Parent Account On the right side (blue banner area) hover over the arrow and it will read Applications, click on it and a box opens up Click on Family Connection (no additional log-in is required for parent/guardian)

CAREER KEY For middle school Online career assessment The results of the Career Key include a score for each of the six Holland interest codes Students can discover: which Holland personality types they are most like identify careers that fit them learn detailed information about each one In family connection, students click on Careers tab Click on career key (on right side of page)

CAREER INTEREST PROFILER Online career interest assessment for High school students Results will display their top Holland Code matches Facts about the Career Interest Profiler: There are 30 questions for each Holland code (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional) for a total of 180 questions. The highest score possible in each area that you can receive is 30. The score received is based on the number of activities in each specific area that the student selected as an interest. CREATE A WELCOME MESSAGE Click Connections, then click Family Connection Select Customize Welcome Messages Click Create New Message Enter a label for the welcome message. Example: Senior Class for a message to the seniors Create and format the message in the Add Content box (you can include text, images and links) Click Save Once you create a message, select which grade levels should see it (you can only display one welcome message per grade level at a time)

CREATE NEWS BULLETINS & ADD LINKS TO YOUR HOMEPAGE Click on Connections, then click on Family Connection
ADD A NEWS BULLETIN Will appear on right side of Family Connection Homepage under Updates Click Connections, then click Family Connection, then click Add News Bulletin Create your bulletin, then choose grade levels, then click save settings This is how it will display

SCHEDULING COLLEGE VISITS Click Colleges, then click Visit Click Add New Visit Click College Picker Search for College, then click College Name Enter Date Complete any other optional features about the visit Click Add Visit OR Add Visit and Send E-mail Notification Note: E-mail notifications go out immediately to all students with the selected college in their active application list.
ADD COLLEGE VISITS Note: You need to have colleges in your college quicklist if you have none, add some now

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS In family connection, click colleges tab Scroll down and click scholarship list Student can search and apply for scholarships

Write your e-mail message Don t forget to click For students who do not have an e-mail address entered in Naviance, they will be able to see the messages on their Family Connection homepage
MAKE A STUDENT RECORD INACTIVE FROM NAVIANCE Find student On left side under quick links, click make inactive Click Continue to make the student inactive Making a student inactive removes the student from all reports Note: Inactivating a student's record automatically freezes their Family Connection account. Students will no longer be able to access and log into Family Connection once made inactive.
CLICK ON MAKE INACTIVE Do not delete student, instead make inactive
SURVEYS To create a custom survey: Click Connections Then Click Survey Builder Click Create a New Survey (top right side of page) To view survey results: Click Connections, then scroll down and click Surveys Find the survey you want to view results for and Click Responses Note: Create a Brag Sheet Survey to use in writing letters of recommendation

USING NAVIANCE EDOCS edocs are electronic versions of the forms required for Common App schools Helps simplify the process, Eliminates paper forms Provide tracking of what document sent to whom and when Allows you to securely send student application related forms, recommendations, transcripts, etc. i.e. send transcript electronically to San Diego State (noncommon app school) Used for Common App send counselor/teacher documents Counselor can also confirm/verify eligibility for student s common app application fee waiver
RELEASE OF INFORMATION Prior to releasing student information, Counselors and/or Teachers need to verify that parent/guardian consent was obtained Did the parent/guardian answer YES to Question #33 on the enrollment card? You may release information only if the parent/guardian marked YES
STUDENT MUST LINK COMMON APP TO NAVIANCE Note: This step is required only if student applying to Common App school Student must create their Common App account first (www.commonapp.org) Student needs to Complete and Sign FERPA in Common App If Counselor receives an e-mail from Common App to complete recommender forms, student did not link or match correctly call student out and walk through process.

MATCH COMMON APP ACCOUNT TO NAVIANCE If student has not created a Common App account and signed their FERPA they can follow these steps Enter e-mail address used for Common App and DOB
STUDENTS TO REQUEST LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION Students can request letters of recommendation through their family connection (some schools also want the student to make a formal request in person) In Family connection, students click Colleges tab Click colleges I m applying to Scroll down and under Teacher Recommendations click add/cancel requests Student to choose teacher name (or counselor name) from drop down list Enter message Click update requests

COUNSELORS USE OF EDOCS Prepare and Send Common App School Report, Midyear Report and Final Reports for student Write and upload Letter of Recommendation NEW Counselor Common App Recommendation Form Yearly school needs to complete the School Info Page and if you have a School Profile you can also upload it Registrars upload transcripts individually (without setting up printers) Transcripts uploaded must have current senior classes listed (WIP transcript)

CHOOSE PREPARE A FORM Note: This is just to prepare your forms, you will need to send them after preparing them Counselor has to prepare 2 forms: Common App School Report and Common App Counselor Recommendation

VERIFY/CONFIRM COMMON APP FEE WAIVER You will need to click on the light colored box to confirm the student s eligibility for a fee waiver You do not get automatic notification to complete this step check regularly by clicking on the expand all button, refresh page as needed
TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS If turned on, students can request transcripts through Family Connection Note: For a midyear transcript request to be made by the student, the request must be made during the student's initial request for a transcript. This option also needs to be enabled for the students. Final Transcripts can only be requested if the student has identified they have been accepted to the college in which they are requesting a final transcript. Additionally, an initial transcript must be sent before the final transcript can be sent. Click Colleges tab in Family Connection. On left side under resources section, click transcripts Choose the type of transcript you are requesting Enter the necessary information Click Request Transcripts Once requested, transcript requests are managed from Transcript Request Manager

TEACHERS RECOMMENDATIONS Teachers log in to their naviance account Click on manage and complete your college recommendations To complete a recommendation form, teacher clicks prepare forms Click prepare (in edocs tab) Next to teacher documents click +Add Click prepare form Click type and choose common app teacher evaluation Click prepare form and complete the information and save
