Introduction 1. Introduction 1.1 Operating Environment * Application program should be installed in the operation system of Microsoft Windows Vista / XP / 2000 (SP3). * NI-VISA Runtime Engine should be installed (Application program will install it automatically). * USB driver program should be installed (refer to chapter 2.2). 1.2 Hardware * Personal Computer (PC): we recommend the processor of Pentium III Celeron 600MHz or above. * RAM: min. 256MB, but we recommend 512MB of RAM or more. * Screen resolution: requires 1,024 x 768 pixels. * CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. * USB cable. 1.3 Connecting Procedures Step 1: Turn on PC and CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. Step 2: Connect RS-232 to USB Cable. Step 3: Start Application Program of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. Step 4: Select correct Serial Port Number. 1-1
Software Installation 2. Software Installation 2.1 Install Application Program Execute setup.exe (which is in installation disc) to enter the procedures of installing Application Program. Please follow the instructions to install Application Program. 1. After putting the installation disc into CD-ROM drive, the application program will automatically execute the installation. 2. If the installation is not automatically executed, please choose the setup.exe program in the installation disc to perform the installation. 3. After Application Program has been installed, please Restart the PC. 2-1
Software Installation 2.2 Install USB Driver Choose USB Driver Directory in the installation disc, click CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.exe program (for Windows Vista / XP / 2000) to execute the installation of USB Driver. 1. If the driver can t detect the hardware, please remove the hardware and then plug it in properly. 2-2
Software Operation 3. Software Operation 3.1 Start Executing Program In Start -> All Programs, choose CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer to start executing program. Choose the Serial Port connected to CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. 1. Click to choose the serial port number connected to CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. 2. After choosing correct serial port number, click to confirm. 3-1
Software Operation 3.2 Functions of Main Screen Get in the main screen of software operation. 1 2 1. Tool bar including functions like: Setting parameters, Communication, Download/Clear datalogger, Information of software version, and Exit. 2. System messages including: initial status, present status, down-load percentage, etc. 3-2
Software Operation 3.3 Setting Parameters click File -> Setup of tool bar to get in parameter-setting screen. Parameters including date/time, datalogger, system, etc. After being set in Application Program, the parameters are written in the memory of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. 1 2 1. Software Operation Datalogger-setting including: Sample, Start time and Stop time of sampling, Waveform point of sampling. System-setting including: Voltage Transformer (VT), Transient Reference Voltage (TRANS REF) and its range (%), Frequency (Hz), Max. Demanding Time (MD Time) and Auto power off. 3-4
Software Operation 3.4 Communication Click <Communication> of tool bar to get in Communication screen. To perform this Communication function, the range of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer should be adjusted to 3 Phase, 1 Phase, V, A, or VA. 1 2 1. Software Operation 2. Communication messages including: Present time (Current Time), Start time of sampling (Start Time), Max. Demanding Time and Present sampling rate (MD Time, Sample Rate), Voltage Transformer (VT), Frequency (Frequency), number of sample already recorded (Sample Count), sample showed at present (Present Sample). 3.5 Down Load Data Click Datalogger -> Down Load Data (Ctrl+D) of Tool bar to get in Down Load Data. The system message shows the current down load %. To stop downloading, press Reset on the right of screen. 3-6
Software Operation 3.6 Clear Memory Click Datalogger -> Clear Memory (Ctrl+C) of tool bar to get in Clear Memory screen. Click Clear Memory in the dialogue to clear the memory of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer. Once the memory of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer has been cleared, it can t be recovered anymore. If it s necessary to save the memory, first down load it and then save it in PC (refer to chapter 4.5). 3-7
Communication 4. Communication The software will display what is shown in the LCD of analyzer. Users should press the FUNC button to select display. 4.1 Communication Screen I Adjust the sliding switch of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer to 3 Phase (or 1Phase), and Click Communication to get in Communication screen. 1 2 3 1. Display of Apparent Power (S) and KVAH, True Power (P) and KWH, Reactive Power (Q) and KVARH. 2. Display of Average demanding (Ave.), Max. Demanding (Max.). 3. Display of Power factor (PF), PFH, Phase angle, Horse power (HP). 4-1
Communication 4.2 Communication Screen II Adjust the sliding switch of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer to V and get in Communication screen. After measuring voltage/harmonics, you will get in below screen. (refer to below remarks for the function of current/harmonics measurement). 4 1 3 5 2 1. Display of voltage and waveform. 2. Display of amplitude spectrum. 3. Display of harmonics (selective function). 4. Display of present RMS, Peak, THD. 5. Display of magnitude, percentage. 4-2
Communication 4.3 Communication Screen III Adjust the sliding switch of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer to VA and get in Communication screen. After measuring voltage/current/waveform, you will get in below screen. 1 2 1. Display of voltage, current and waveform. 2. Display of present P, S and Phase readings. 4-3
Communication 4.4 Communication Screen IV Adjust the sliding switch of CLAMP-ON Graphic Power Quality Analyzer to VA and get in Communication screen. After measuring voltage/waveform, you will get in below screen. (refer to below remarks for the function of current/waveform measurement). 1 2 1. Display of voltage and waveform. 2. Communication 4.5 Open / Save Data You can Open/Save the data of Communication screen or the down-load data from/to PC. Click File -> Save (Ctrl+S) in Communication screen, the data of the present screen can be saved as.csv files. 1 The down load information of transient data includes: Transient starting time (Start Time), Duration of transience (Duration), End time of transience (End Time), Higher than set voltage (High), Lower than set voltage (Low) and Opening circuit (Open). 4.6 Setting MD Time & Sample Rate 4-5
Communication Click File -> MD Time & Sample Rate in Communication screen and then click Setting in the dialogue. The max. demanding time (MD Time) and sampling rate (Sample Rate) can be reset. When you finish setting parameters and press Enter, the recorded data will be cleared (Reset). If you want to save this data, you must save it before resetting MD Time & Sample Rate. 4-6
Communication 4.7 Choosing Printer Click File -> Print in Communication screen, and then click beside the Name column to choose the printer you d like to use. There is also a printer-selection function in Waveform function. 4.8 Waveform Click Waveform in Communication screen, then choose the waveform name that you want. In various Communication screens, you can choose among the following waveform names: Communication screen I : V, A, S, P, Q, PF, Phase, KVAH, KWH, KVARH, PFH, VA(AD), W(AD), VA(MD), W(MD) Communication screen II : RMS, Peak, THD Communication screen III : V, A, P, S, Phase Communication screen IV : RMS, Peak 4-7
Communication 4.9 Waveform Redrawing In Waveform screen, you can adjust Scale and Cursor position manually to observe readings. If you improperly adjust Scale or Cursor position, click File -> Redraw to perform Waveform redrawing which can automatically make a proper adjustment. 1 3 2 4 1. Display readings of present cursor position. 2. Draw chosen waveform. 3. Adjust present cursor position (or drag the cursor). 4. Click Scale input values to change observation range. 4.10 Printing Waveform 4-8
Communication Click File -> Print to perform waveform printing function which can output the present observed screen to a printer. (There is also a printing function in Communication screen). 4.11 Operation Modes Operation modes include Real Time mode, History mode, File mode. Choose the mode you want in Communication screen by clicking View to get in the chosen mode. Real Time mode: Real-time display the present reading in Communication screen. History mode: observe the previous data of readings; keep data logging. File Mode: open the saved data of readings. 4-9
Communication 4.12 Mode Resetting Execute View -> Reset function, then all the present data will be reset and recorded again, and the Mode will be returned to Real Time mode. 1 2 1.
