CADS ONLINE TEACHING STAFF This document will show you how to use CADS online to Log an Absence, Close an Absence and use View Or Change an Absence. To get started, open your web browser and go to the School District Web Page, www.sd43.bc.ca : Select my43 from the green bar, make sure you have signed into the computer as the system will recognize you, or at this point the system may ask you to sign in using your school district user name and password. The my43 web page will open. The following shows you key pages to visit. LOGGING AN ABSENCE Select from the blue bar, by floating your mouse over the CADS button, then selecting from the drop down menu Log an Absence. The Absence Entry: Absence Information screen will appear. The next screen will be the Absence Schedule Details, this example shows the window for an until further notice absence. When complete click on next. (Do not delete Pro D days or Stat Holidays; enter the usual days you work for the first 5 days on an until further notice absence.) Duplicate dates may be OK if you work at more than one location. Your assigned schedule should come up automatically. These are entered at the beginning of each school year. To modify start and end times Click on the date and the Modify Absence Schedule window will come up. This works in both the Absence and the Replacement s schedule. The Replacement Details screen will now ask you to answer 4 radio questions. Read each one and answer appropriately. If you say No to the first question, the balance of the questions will be grayed out and clicking next will forward you to the Summary Page screen where you can submit your absence. If you select No to the second question as in the example, the next screen will be the Replacement Schedule Details. Here you have the opportunity to set up the dates and times the TOC will work for your absence if they are different than your absence schedule. (Do not delete Pro D days or Stat Holidays; enter the usual first 5 days you work for an until further notice absence.) The next screen is the Replacement Request screen where you can select up to 5 specific TOC replacements. When using the binoculars, read the instructions in that window for helpful tips on searching. Click Next to continue. The Replacement Instructions screen is next, enter the subjects and levels with respect to your subject and levels taught. The system uses this information to search for a Replacement with those subjects and levels first, after trying the requested replacements. You can also enter a message for your replacement. Where to park or when your prep block is can be useful messages to leave. Then the Summary Page will list the information for both Absence and Replacement (dispatch) schedules, please review this carefully for errors and use the to go back and make any revisions necessary. If you are satisfied the information is accurate you can click the at the bottom of this page. The Confirmation Receipt XXXXXX screen as below will come up next if you have successfully completed your absence entry. If you do not get this screen you have not completed your absence. VIEW OR CHANGE AN ABSENCE To access, go to my43 as above and float your mouse over the CADS button, slide down and select View Or Change An Absence. Alternately, once the CADS page is open, select View Or Change An Absence from the side navigation bar. This is the screen you will use to Close or Cancel an absence. You can only use the Cancel Absence button if the absence hasn t started and no person has been dispatched. The most common difficulty in finding an absence/dispatch is not selecting the correct Date Range and Refreshing when looking on this screen. CLOSE AN ABSENCE Go to View Or Change an Absence, select the Absence ID you wish to close. The Absence Details screen will come up and you should confirm the details of the absence and select the Button. Note: You can only use the Cancel Absence button if the absence hasn t started and no replacement has been dispatched. The next 3 screens are not full screens, (due to privacy issues) normally the absence and dispatch details will be shown. The View or Change: Close Absence screen will be next and you need to select the date of your return and then click the submit Close button. The last screen will confirm that you have successfully completed closing your absence.
