The videos are broken down into short discussions of the various aspects of software setup and operation. IMPORTANT Please Install Your EASE Scan Tool Software before installing any other software that came with your package. UNLESS you have an EASE Universal Reprogrammer II Plus Interface, then install the Reprogramming Assistant software first, not the Scan Tool. Installing your EASE Scan Tool Software ATTENTION: Do NOT connect an EASE Vehicle Interface Device to your Computer until instructed to do so. ATTENTION: Close any other running applications, including anti-virus software. Also make sure there is no other EASE Versions running on the PC. The EASE Scan Tool Software Version X3.3 is available in several forms. Based on how you received your Scan Tool Software, you will start the instructions at different steps. If you received a USB Flash Drive from EASE start at Step 3: If you will perform an electronic download via the Web start at Step 1: 1. Go to the web address in the email you received from EASE when your purchase was made to begin the web download (http://www.automotivescantool.com/download/pcst_pro_x3.3/pcst_pro_x3.exe) Note: Disregard step 1 if you have already downloaded the web installer 2. Locate the install file (called: pcst_pro_x3.exe) in your download directory and run it 3. If you received a USB flash drive from EASE with the scan tool install pre-loaded on it please insert it into an available USB port at this time. 4. Open "This PC" on your Desktop. 5. In This PC" window double click on the drive called EASE Flash Drive a. Once in this folder double click on the file called Launch.exe Page 1 of 9
6. You will See a Message "Do you want to allow this App to make Changes to you device?". Click Yes 7. Click on the Red Button to the left of Install EASE Diagnostics Software (Figure 2). 8. This will bring up the EASE Diagnostics Software screen (Figure 3). 9. On this screen, click on the Install Pro Scan Tool X3" button to start the installation. 10. A message box will appear saying that the software is preparing to install, this will only take a few moments and you will see the progress bars moving across the screen. 11. Depending on what software you have installed and the speed of your computer, the installation could take up to 40 minutes. Figure 2 Figure 3 12. You may see a message "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Click on Yes. Page 2 of 9
13. You may see a screen prompting you to uninstall a previous version. If so click Next and the Wizard will uninstall the previous version automatically. After the old version has been uninstalled the welcome screen will be displayed (Figure 4), click Next to continue. 14. This will bring up the License Agreement (Figure 5). a. Please read the agreement carefully before checking the box to accept the terms b. After checking the box to accept the terms click Next to continue. Figure 4 Figure 5 15. This will bring you to the Setup Type screen (Figure 6). Choose your preferred installation type: a. Complete will install All the Scan Tools. b. Compact will only install the Generic Scan Tool. c. Custom will let you choose what tools to install. Page 3 of 9
16. Then click Next (Figure 6) 17. On the Destination Folder screen. Click Next (Figure 7). Figure 6 Figure 7 18. A confirmation screen will then be displayed (Figure 8). Review the information and make sure it is correct before proceeding. Click Next to continue and begin the installation. 19. Once the setup has begun, the Status screen will appear and show the installation progress. (Figure 9) Figure 8 Figure 9 Page 4 of 9
20. Throughout the install process, you may see a dialog box similar to the following: (Figure 10) If so, follow the directions below, under the box that appears on the screen. Figure 10 Windows 10; Check the box next to Always Trust & click Install, so the software and USB drivers are installed. DO NOT PRESS ENTER as this will cancel the operation. 21. When the installation is complete click Finish. 22. If you received your USB flash drive from EASE then it has already been unlocked as a security dongle. If you are supplying your own USB flash drive as a security dongle follow the directions in the section below titled Security Dongle Unlock Procedure Page 5 of 9
Security Dongle Unlock Procedure (requires internet access) Please Note: If you received your USB flash drive from EASE these directions can be ignored. These directions are only to be followed if you did not receive a USB flash drive from EASE and you are supplying your own flash drive for use as a security dongle. a. After your software has been installed an icon will appear on the desktop called Scan Tool Launcher X3, double click this icon. b. After the Launcher opens click the tab called Unlock located near the center of the window c. Under this tab there is one available button labeled: Unlock Tool, click this button d. This will open the UNLOCK window, Plug in the thumb drive in to the PC and Click on OK button to convert it. e. Navigate to the Activate Product tab if you are not directed there automatically f. Enter your User Name (typically the email address used to order your scan tool) g. Enter your Order Number which can be found in the email you received from EASE about your scan tool h. Click Get Order i. Highlight each product in the list below to be activated and click Activate Product at the bottom of the screen. (this must be done individually for each tool in the list) j. After this is done the Status column will show that each tool is unlocked k. Click Close, the unlock process is complete. 23. If you have Internet on your PC the scan tool can check to see if there are any updates, be sure that it is enabled. This will ensure your scan tool is always up to date. Open the Generic or any of the O.E.M. scan tools and under the Options menu, select, Automatically Check for Updates. 24. Your Scan Tool software is now set up 25. If you turned off your virus checker prior to the installation, you can turn it back on now or after Bonus software is installed (if applicable). 26. Pick from the 3 interface Instructions to help you get Setup. USB, J2534 or Bluetooth. EASE EVI-6000 USB Interface Setup Note: These directions should be followed only after the EASE Scan Tool has been installed and Unlocked. 1. Connect the EASE EVI-6000 USB interface to the PC and Power it up off of a Vehicle or AC Adapter. 2. Open up the OBD-II Generic on the Scan Tool Launcher X3 Launcher. 3. You may see a message like the one below put a Check in both Private and Public and click allow Access. 4. When you get to the Make a selection Menu click on Quick Vehicle Scan. 5. If you do not see the Choose Profile Screen click on Configure Vehicle Interface. 6. Pick the correct profile for the interface you have from the list and click edit at the bottom. Note: If you cannot find a profile that matches the interface you have click on New at the bottom and give it a name and click ok. 7. For the select Vehicle interface screen pick EVI-6000 then click OK. 8. On the next screen pick "USB Cable" and click OK. 9. On the Communication Options Screen, Pick the EVI-6000 interface from the list. Click OK. 10. Note: If you do not see the EVI-6000 in the list the Drivers may need to be installed. When you are back to the Connection screen. Hook it up to the vehicle you are scanning. Turn the Key to the ON or Running state. Then click Reset. 13. You are now setup. Note: Make sure you have the USB Thumb Drive plugged in so the scan tool will be unlocked. 14. EASE Universal Reprogrammer II Plus Interface Setup Note: These directions should be followed only after the EASE Scan Tool has been installed and Unlocked. 1. Once you have the Universal Reprogrammer II Plus setup with USB. 2. Open up the OBD-II Generic on the Scan Tool Launcher X3 Launcher. 3. You may see a message like the one below put a Check in both Private and Public and click allow Access. 4. When you get to the Make a selection Menu click on Quick Vehicle Scan. 5. If you do not see the Choose Profile Screen click on Configure Vehicle Interface. 6. Pick the correct profile for the interface you have from the list and click edit at the bottom. Note: If you cannot find a profile that matches the interface you have click on New at the bottom and give it a name and click ok. 7. For the select Vehicle interface screen pick SAE J2534-1 then click OK. 8. On the Communication Options Screen pick the Ease Diagnostics - Universal Reprogrammer II Plus interface from the list and click ok. 9. Highlight the Picture of the Reprogrammer on the left hand side and click on Make Default. Then click on Exit. 10. Then click OK again. 11. When you are back to the Connection screen. Hook it up to the vehicle you are scanning. Turn the Key to the ON or Running state. Then click Reset. 12. You are now setup. Note: Make sure you have the USB Thumb Drive plugged in so the scan tool will be unlocked. 13. EASE MBT Bluetooth Interface Setup Note: These directions should be followed only after the EASE Scan Tool has been installed and Unlocked. 1. Right click the BlueTooth icon in your system tray in the lower right corner. 2. Click Add a Bluetooth Device. 3. Wait until you see EASE MBT" in the list. 4. Click Pair. 5. Enter 1234 if prompted for a PIN code. 6. Open up the OBD-II Generic on the Scan Tool Launcher X3 Launcher. 7. You may see a message like the one below put a Check in both Private and Public and click allow Access. 8. When you get to the Make a selection Menu click on Quick Vehicle Scan. 9. If you do not see the Choose Profile Screen click on Configure Vehicle Interface. 10. Pick the correct profile for the interface you have from the list and click edit at the bottom. Note: If you cannot find a profile that matches the interface you have click on New at the bottom and give it a name and click ok. 11. For the select Vehicle interface screen pick MBT then click OK. 12. On the Communication Options Screen Pick the EASE MBT from the list. Click OK. 13. Then click OK again. 14. When you are back to the Connection screen. Hook it up to the vehicle you are scanning. Turn the Key to the ON or Running state. Then click Reset. 15. You are now setup.
