Course Overview Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations; BS 7671 (2018) This qualification is the benchmark qualification for all electricians who are seeking to gain more of an insight into this important standard. City and Guilds 2382 is widely recognised throughout the electrical industry as the must have qualification, as a requirement to show that an individual has a thorough understanding of how to navigate BS 7671. If you are involved in domestic, commercial or industrial electrical installations, this qualification is widely regarded as the mandatory requirement for anyone involved in the electrical installation industry or is likely to be supervising those that are carrying out electrical installations. Any person who needs to prove that they have the necessary underpinning knowledge of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations in the electrical industry, will be required to show evidence by way of having a thorough understanding and an awareness of all the requirements of the Wiring Regulations, and that is achieved by holding the City and Guilds 2382-18 certificate. Although there are no pre-entry requirements to attend this course, we strongly recommend that prospective candidates have prior personal knowledge of electrical theory and terminologies, together with a basic understanding of electrical installation principles and circuits. WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE? This is a 3-day course that includes your examination. You will be required to purchase a copy of the IET Wiring Regulations; BS 7671:2018 publication for use during your training. Networks Centre Training Academy 2.

Course Content The course will include the following; An introduction to the Wiring Regulations and its relationship within the electrical industry An introduction of how the regulation numbering system works How to effectively index and navigate through the 8 Parts and 16 Appendices of BS 7671:2018, including: Part 1: Scope, object and fundamental principles Part 2: Definitions (used in the Wiring Regulations) Part 3: Assessment of general characteristics Part 4: Protection for safety Part 5: Selection and erection of equipment Part 6: Inspection and testing Part 7: Special installations or locations Part 8: Energy efficiency The sessions will also include some discussion of typical examples of how and where particular requirements within the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations may be applied. Assessment & Required Materials On completion of this course, all candidates are assessed via an examination consisting of 60 multiple-choice questions. This is an open book examination, with reference to BS 7671, and is carried out using the City and Guilds e-volve system. All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination. REQUIRED REFERENCE MATERIALS Candidates are required to obtain the following reference publication for use during the training course and examination: IET Wiring Regulations; BS 7671:2018 (ISBN: 978-1-78561-170-4) This can be ordered when booking your course.
