About Upsite Technologies Upsite Technologies, Inc., a pioneer, and industry thought leader specializing in data center airflow management, provides a full suite of products and services designed to enable mission-critical facilities to optimize cooling, increase reliability, and recover stranded capacity while reducing overall energy costs. RAISED W O The Four 4R s OR RO FL Upsite Technologies was created by the late Ken Brill, founder of the Uptime Institute, and launched in 2001 with the original KoldLok Integral grommet. Upsite continues to engineer, design and manufacture award-winning, patented solutions and believes that sharing our knowledge and science around airflow management supports the data center industry through open best practice discussions. Upsite Technologies sells airflow management solutions throughout the US, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. of Data Center Airflow Management With so many variables affecting airflow within a data center, it can be daunting to know where to start and how to get the most out of airflow management improvements. Upsite s 4R s of Airflow Management is a holistic methodology for implementing changes to optimize the data center s cooling infrastructure and realize energy savings, including the Raised Floor, Rack, Row, and Room. We used CFD analysis to model a 4,000 sq. ft. data center and provide engineering simulation to assess the impact of the changes made at each level.

Rack Airflow Management HotLok sealing products from Upsite Technologies are proven energy savings best practices for airflow management. They reduce high intake air temperatures by preventing hot exhaust air from circulating to the front of the IT cabinets. HotLok products help decrease operational and capital costs, increase capacity, and are an integral part of airflow management best practices. They are an efficient and low-cost way to significantly improve a data center s Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). HotLok products result in noteworthy cost reductions that allow data center managers to raise computer room temperatures and spend less of their operating and capital budgets on cooling. Raised Floor Airflow Management KoldLok grommets are the industry standard for sealing openings in raised floors and provide data center operators with the most reliable and durable brush grommets available on the market. Upsite Technologies offers a full line of KoldLok brush grommets that not only efficiently limit bypass airflow they also provide data center operators notable reductions in annual operational expense approximately 50% savings than our closest competitors brush grommets. 1 Our grommets have been specifically designed to help eliminate bypass airflow in the data center, increase cabinet capacity, enable higher cabinet density, and dramatically lower energy consumption from excessive cooling. Aisle Airflow Management AisleLok modular containment products are engineered to reduce bypass airflow, increase capacity, and improve Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) in the data center. These unique modular containment products are elegantly designed to provide all of the benefits of full containment, but with greater flexibility and better price value. Upsite Technologies Modular containment offers complete flexibility to adapt to the current aisle configuration without the need for engineered services or construction within the computer room. This flexibility means modular containment can be implemented with ease and can grow and adapt to the changes that are a regular part of today s data centers. Room Airflow Optimization Upsite Technologies EnergyLok Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) provide cost-effective solutions to optimize your data center environment by monitoring temperature, humidity, fluid leaks, motion, smoke, and door activity. KoldLok, HotLok, and AisleLok solutions by Upsite are designed to act together to create an environment of significantly improved airflow management. After installation, energy saving tweaks such as reducing fan speed, turning off cooling units, and raising temperature set points can then be taken to improve energy savings even further. EnergyLok products and services supervise this process and maximize your savings.
