The Open PM² Initiative Open PM 2 provides open access to the PM 2 Project Management Methodology to all EU Institutions, Contractors, Member States and EU Citizens. It helps establish a common PM language and process for projects within and across organisations, increase effectiveness, collaboration efficiency and success in the coordination of projects in EU. Opening PM 2 aims to enable better project management in Europe and contribute towards the increase in project management maturity within the European Union, achieving effectiveness and efficiencies and serving the interests and needs of its stakeholders. What is PM² PM 2 is a Project Management Methodology developed and supported by the European Commission. Its purpose is to enable project teams to manage their projects effectively and deliver solutions and benefits to their organisations and stakeholders. PM 2 is a lean and easy to use methodology which captures the experience of EU Institutions from managing thousands of projects, change initiatives, programmes and grants. It has been custom developed to fit the specific needs, culture and constraints of EU Institutions and Public Administrations, but also incorporates elements from globally accepted best practices, standards and methodologies, making it suitable for use in any type of organisation and project. Benefits of PM 2» Combines globally recognized project management methodologies and standards, and project management best practices from the European Institutions.» Promotes a common project management methodology and vocabulary for the effective management of projects within and across organisations.» Enables improved accountability, transparency, and better stakeholder communication and collaboration.» Provides a common governance structure with clearly described project roles and responsibilities.» Offers guidelines for the tailoring of the methodology to suit specific project needs and organizational environment.» Offers guidelines for the initiating, planning, executing and closing phases of projects and describes activities to monitor and control project performance.» Provides a full set of artefact templates to help manage the project.» Offers guidelines, templates and examples for all project artefacts.» Is actively supported and fully documented (PM 2 Guide and wiki).

Centre of Excellence in PM 2 (CoEPM 2 ) The purpose of the Centre of Excellence in PM 2 is to provide the European Commission and EU Institutions with high-quality Project Management infrastructure, support, training and consulting services. The CoEPM 2 supports the PM 2 Methodology, coordinates an inter-institutional Project Support Network (PSN), and promotes the wider adoption of PM 2 through the Open PM 2 Initiative CoEPM 2 European Commission CoEPM 2 Offering PM 2 Methodology: Guides, Templates and guidelines, Tools and Techniques, and online resources. Open PM 2 Initiative: provide open access to the PM 2 Methodology. Establishment and Coordination of an EU wide Project Support Network (PSN). Project Support Network (PSN) The PM 2 Project Support Network (PSN) is a network of Project Support Offices (PSOs) and PM 2 champions which are coordinated and supported by the Centre of Excellence in PM 2. The PM 2 Project Support Network (PSN) aims to become a decentralized Project Management support network providing guidance and support to PM 2 users on the effective adoption and use of the PM 2 Methodology. The Project Support Network (PSN): promotes the exchange and sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices. makes it possible to collect feedback to continuously improve and evolve the PM 2 Methodology. enables the Project Support Offices (PSOs) to support each other as a community. depends on the contributions of PM 2 champions (individuals and organisations).
