Figure 4.2: Dialog box to restart computer The sections that follow explain each of the 24 features in detail.

Features 27 4.1 Disable Lock Computer A customer might sometimes lock a terminal of your cafe using the Lock Computer option of Windows. If a terminal is unwantedly locked by a user, you will have to unlock the terminal for other users. CLINCK Speed Manager s Disable Lock Computer feature helps overcome this problem by preventing users from locking the computer. When this feature is enabled, the Windows + L option used for locking the computer does not work. Further, in the Windows Security dialog box that appears on pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL, the Lock Computer tab is disabled. Lock Computer option is enabled Figure 4.3: When Disable Lock Computer is disabled Lock Computer option is disabled Figure 4.4: When Disable Lock Computer is enabled

28 Chapter 4 4.2 Hide Registry Editor Unwanted changes to settings in the registry can lead to various problems that affect the proper functioning of the terminal. The Hide Registry Editor feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager prevents users from deleting or changing any settings or Important Information from the registry, and thus ensures smooth functioning of the terminal. When this feature is enabled, the Registry Editor tool of Windows is disabled, and thus inaccessible to the user. Figure 4.5: Accessing the Registry Editor

Features 29 Figure 4.6: When Hide Registry Editor is disabled Figure 4.7: When Hide Registry Editor is enabled 4.3 Delete Temp Files on every Restart Regularly deleting cookies and temporary files from the computer terminal keeps the hard disk clean and the computer healthy. The Delete Temp Files on every Restart feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager helps in this. When this feature is enabled, cookies and temporary files are deleted from the computer every time it is restarted.

Features 31 Figure 4.9: When Delete Temp Files on every Restart is enabled Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect. 4.4 Disable Personalized Menu The Windows Start menu can be personalized if you right click it and access the Properties option. The Disable Personalized Menu feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager disables the Properties option, thus preventing the user from adding or removing programs in the Start menu or changing the size of the Desktop icons. When this feature is enabled, the Properties option available when you right click the Start menu does not work.

32 Chapter 4 Figure 4.10: Accessing the Properties of the Start Menu Figure 4.11: When Disable Personalized Menu is disabled Figure 4.12: When Disable Personalized Menu is enabled

4.5 Speed up Shutdown Time Features 33 As the terminals in your cafe might need to be shut down frequently, it will help if the shutdown process is made faster. The Speed up Shutdown Time feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager reduces the computer s shutdown time. When this feature is enabled, the computer settings are not saved before shutdown. 4.6 Remove Run Command Using the Run command of Windows, a user can access hard drives or execute programs and commands on the terminal, which may affect the proper functioning of the computer. The Remove Run Command of the CLINCK Speed Manager hides the Run command in the Start menu, thus preventing the user from opening drives and running programs or commands. When this feature is enabled, the Run command in the Start menu is hidden, and thus inaccessible to the user. Figure 4.13: When Remove Run Command is disabled

34 Chapter 4 Figure 4.14: When Remove Run Command is enabled Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect. 4.7 Speed up Folder Browsing Speed up Folder Browsing is another feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager that makes the terminal work faster. Enabling this feature makes the folders on the computer open instantly. When this feature is enabled, it allows quick access to the folders on the computer s hard disks. 4.8 Disable Internet Options Menu Users might sometimes unnecessarily change the internet browser settings on your cafe s terminals. The Disable Internet Options Menu feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager prevents unwanted changes in the settings of the internet browser. When this feature is enabled, the Internet Options feature in browsers such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox does not work.

Features 35 Figure 4.15: Accessing Internet Options Figure 4.16: When Disable Internet Options Menu is disabled

36 Chapter 4 Figure 4.17: When Disable Internet Options Menu is enabled 4.9 Disable Change Password for Windows You can keep the computer terminals of your cafe secure by preventing unauthorized users from changing the Windows password. The Disable Change Password for Windows feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager helps protect the terminal by restricting access to the option to change the Windows password. When this feature is enabled, the Change Password option of Windows does not work. Figure 4.18: When Disable Change Password for Windows is disabled

Features 37 Figure 4.19: When Disable Change Password for Windows is enabled 4.10 Write Protect USB Drives You might have to explain to law enforcement agencies how you prevent unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material in your cafe. This can be done by demonstrating the Write Protect USB Drives feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager, which prevents users from copying unauthorized software and data like music and videos from your cafe s terminals on to USB drives. Restricting USB drives on terminals also stops the spread of viruses on the café network. When this feature is enabled, it does not allow the user to save or copy any files to a USB drive attached to the terminal. Figure 4.20: When Write Protect USB Drives is disabled

38 Chapter 4 4.11 Disable Display Setting Figure 4.21: When Write Protect USB Drives is enabled Users might sometimes make unwanted changes to the display settings of the terminals of your cafe. The Disable Display Setting feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager prevents the user from changing the display settings of the computer, which can normally be accessed from the Control Panel. When this feature is enabled, the Windows Display Properties dialog box, which is accessed from the Control Panel, becomes inaccessible to the user.

Features 39 Figure 4.22: Accessing the Display Settings Figure 4.23: When Disable Display Setting is disabled

40 Chapter 4 Figure 4.24: When Disable Display Setting is enabled 4.12 Disable Save Setting on Exit As the terminals in your cafe might need to be shut down frequently, it will help if the shutdown time is reduced. The Disable Save Setting on Exit feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager makes the shutdown process of the computer faster. When this feature is enabled, the process of saving computer settings before shutdown is skipped. Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect.

Features 41 4.13 Restrict Resolution to 1024*768 Most internet sites are made for and best viewed in the 1024*768 screen resolution. The Restrict Resolution to 1024*768 feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager locks the screen resolution at 1024*768 by not allowing the user to change the display settings. When this feature is enabled, in the Windows Display Properties dialog box that is accessed from the Control Panel, the Settings tab is hidden and thus inaccessible to the user. Figure 4.25: Accessing the Screen Resolution Settings

42 Chapter 4 Figure 4.26: When Restrict Resolution to 1024*768 is disabled Figure 4.27: When Restrict Resolution to 1024*768 is enabled

4.14 Disable Printer Access Features 43 Users might sometimes give unnecessary print commands from your cafe s terminals, causing wastage of paper and printer ink. The Disable Printer Access feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager prevents unwanted or unnecessary printout requests from the computer terminals. When this feature is enabled, the terminal cannot access the printers on your cafe s computer network. Figure 4.28: When Disable Printer Access is disabled Figure 4.29: When Disable Printer Access is enabled

44 Chapter 4 4.15 Disable Log Off The Disable Log Off feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager provides security to the terminals of your cafe by preventing the user from logging off or switching to another user on the computer. When this feature is enabled, the Windows options to log off from the current user account or switch to another user are hidden, and thus unavailable to the user. The computer can only be shut down. Figure 4.30: When Disable Log Off is disabled

Features 45 Figure 4.31: When Disable Log Off is enabled Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect. 4.16 Disable Save As for Downloaded Files Users might sometimes save unnecessary software or data on the hard disk of your cafe s terminal. The Disable Save As for Downloaded Files feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager does not allow the user to do so, thus preventing downloads of unwanted files from the internet and also saving space on the hard disk. When this feature is enabled, it will block any files from being downloaded to the hard disk of the computer.

46 Chapter 4 Figure 4.32: When Disable Save As for Downloaded Files is disabled Figure 4.33: When Disable Save As for Downloaded Files is enabled

4.17 Disable Control Panel Features 47 Improper changes to the computer settings from the Control Panel can affect the proper functioning of the terminals of your cafe. The Disable Control Panel feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager helps overcome this problem by preventing users from making unauthorized changes to the terminal s settings from the Control Panel. When this feature is enabled, the Control Panel option in the Start menu is hidden, and thus inaccessible to the user. Figure 4.34: When Disable Control Panel is disabled

48 Chapter 4 Figure 4.35: When Disable Control Panel is enabled Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect.

Features 49 4.18 Hide Network Neighborhood For security reasons, you can prevent access between the terminals on your cafe s computer network. This can be done using the Hide Network Neighborhood feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager, which ensures that the user at one terminal cannot access the other terminals on the network and cannot copy files to or from them. When this feature is enabled, the Network Neighborhood and My Network Places are hidden from the user. Figure 4.36: When Hide Network Neighborhood is disabled

50 Chapter 4 Figure 4.37: When Hide Network Neighborhood is enabled Note When this feature is enabled or disabled, the computer terminal needs to be restarted for the change to take effect. 4.19 Prevent Change to Taskbar and Start Menu Hiding the Windows taskbar or changing its size or position can cause inconvenience to other users. The Prevent Change to Taskbar and Start Menu feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager stops the user from changing the size and position of the taskbar, as well as the Quick Launch icons on it. When this feature is enabled, the user cannot make changes to the taskbar and the Start menu.

52 Chapter 4 Figure 4.39: When Prevent Change to Taskbar and Start Menu is disabled Figure 4.40: When Prevent Change to Taskbar and Start Menu is enabled 4.20 Set Browser History to Zero Days The Set Browser History to Zero Days feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager ensures that a user s browsing history cannot be seen by the other users. It also keeps the terminal s hard disk clean. On enabling this feature, no data such as cookies or temporary internet files from any website visited is stored on the terminal. When this feature is enabled, the browsing history in Internet Explorer is not saved.

56 Chapter 4 4.22 Remove Find/Search Menu Users might sometimes perform unwanted and time consuming searches on the computer terminals of your cafe. The Remove Find/Search Menu feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager helps in preventing this problem. When this feature is enabled, the CTRL + F and F3 keys on the terminal s keyboard do not work. Further, the Search option in the Windows Start menu is hidden, and thus inaccessible to the user. 4.24 Hide All Drives Features 61 The Hide All Drives feature of the CLINCK Speed Manager protects the hard disk of your cafe s computer terminal from unnecessary files, thus keeping it clean and saving disk space. This feature does not allow the user to save any files on the terminal s hard disk by hiding the disk drive and making it inaccessible.
