Features and Enhancements Extended Oracle platform support Oracle support has been extended to Solaris Intel and AIX Enhanced Logical device selection LDEVs can now be specified by manually entering the LDEV ID, the ID can be a single entry or continuous range. Additionally LDEVs can be specified by entering the host group ID. VMWare 6 VMWare 6 is now supported. This includes VADP backup of VVOLs. SAP HANA scale up Support of consistent point in time snapshots in a ScaleUP single node configuration. Oracle pluggable Databases Support of Oracle 12C pluggable databases Floating logical device When creating Thin Image snapshots floating logical devices will be used by default if the underlying hardware supports them. This enables HDID to achieve better RPO with instant snapshot creation and increased number of snapshots, while minimizing the need for storage locking / unlocking. NDMP NDMP is now supported for HNAS. Backups can be targeted to tape drives directly connected to the HNAS. VSP Port selection improvements When defining a VSP agentless node it is possible to limit the ports used for provisioning snapshots and replication destinations. VSP Pool usage and monitoring Pools used by HDID are now monitored. A report is available that shows pool sizes and current usage. Additionally pool usage is periodically reported in the logs and when pool usage exceeds warning thresholds the logs can be used to notify users via email. Mounting snapshot to servers without HDID installed When mounting a snapshot it is now possible to expose the snapshot to the host using a specified host group. This allows any host to mount snapshots. There is no application mount capability when only exposing a snapshot 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 4

Known problems ZEN-12798 Restoring multiple VMs from a V2I backup may fail to restore some of them giving errors in the logs. Avoid this issue by restoring VMs individually. ZEN-12774 During an upgrade the process vssaimstorprovider.dll maybe busy. Skipping this file will allow the installer to continue without error. Alternatively waiting 10 minutes with the HDID services shutdown will allow the upgrade to work without error. ZEN-12770 An NDMP attached tape library may remain offline after a network failure. To resolve this issue restart the HDID services on the NDMP proxy node. ZEN-12619 Deleting hundreds of Thin Image snapshots by multi selecting them may result in a few remaining in a state of 'externally deleted'. Retrying the delete will remove them. ZEN-12614 Backups of Hyper-V CSV on Windows 2012 / 2012R2 are crash consistent not application consistent. ZEN-12592 Both Oracle and SAP policies should have the quiesce application option checked. This is checked by default. Not having this checked can result in backups that are not restorable. ZEN-12591 location. On an ISM node the CCI package must be installed in the default ZEN-12555 The name of the owner of ASM needs to be 'grid' or 'oracle' when performing a revert operation. ZEN-12554 It is important to upgrade all HDID nodes to 5.3. Hardware snapshots produced in a mixed 5.2 / 5.3 environment may be marked as 'Externally deleted' and will not be usable. ZEN-12551 Intermittently when mounting a refreshed Thin Image snapshot it will fail with the error "raidcom : User verification for Serial#(210613) was skipped." Retrying the mount will result in the mount working. ZEN-12512 If a snapshot failed to unmount due to it being busy the user interface may show the snapshot an unmounted so its not possible to retry the unmount. Restarting the user interface resolves this issue. ZEN-12388 Hyper-V CSV on Windows 2008R2 fails to backup with an error 'Failed to create snapshot' ZEN-12369 Changing the namespace size once the HCP node has been created has no affect. To change the namespace size please use the HCP user interface. ZEN-12340 When stopping the HDID services use diagdata --stop all. Stopping just the HDID services without stopping the filesystem filter can result in the distributor process still running and unkillable. Stopping the filter service will stop the distributor. ZEN-12295 If a mount to an AIX server fails try increasing the process stack size as follows: # /opt/hitachi/hdid/bin/diagdata --stop all # ulimit -s unlimited 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 5

# export AIXTHREAD_STK=2097152 # /opt/hitachi/hdid/bin/diagdata --start all ZEN-12262 With a NDMP attached tape library configured it is possible for HDID to fail to shut down. Ending the HDID process called 'device manager' using task manager will resolve this. ZEN-12127 If the password for the account that HDID is using on the array is changed HDID will fail to log in to the array. Changing the password within HDID will require assistance from HDID Support. ZEN-12037 When restoring a VMware VM to an alternate host the host must be specified using its FQDN. If an IP address is used the restore will fail. ZEN-12007 To backup an HNAS EVS the tape library must be connected to that EVS. Cross EVS backup is not supported in this release. ZEN-11632 When using HDID to create V2I snapshots of VMs hosted on VMWare 6 they may not retire. Creating a V2I snapshot from VSphere of each VM will resolve this issue. ZEN-10340 It is not possible to trigger a HNAS or batch Block replication from the GUI, it needs to be triggered from the CLI tool triggerbackup.exe ZEN-10149 Once an Hitachi Block Agentless node is created the serial number should not be updated. ZEN-10099 Attributes Solaris host-based backups do not capture ACLs or Extended ZEN-10090 After performing a bare metal recovery of a Windows server it is possible that the drive letters will not match the original machine. They will be in the same alphabetical order but any gaps may be removed, e,g, C, E, F may become C, D, E ZEN-9919 It is possible to de-authorize a node with active mounts. This should be avoided because once de-authorized it is not possible to unmount. ZEN-9816 HDID nodes installed on a Microsoft failover cluster need to be upgraded locally, it's not possible to upgrade them from the master user interface. ZEN-9784 On Windows if the Display DPI setting is greater than 100% then it's not possible to see all custom install options in the installer. To resolve this install using the default DPI setting of 100% ZEN-9776 SUSE Linux is not able to perform automated mount operations if hosted on VMWare. RHEL and OEL work as expected. ZEN-9749 Exchange now has an option to backup active / passive or all databases. In versions prior to 5.1 for Exchange 2010 only active databases were protected. After the upgrade the default behaviour is to backup all databases, this can be changed by editing the policy to select the desired option. ZEN-9740 Before removing a re-purposed replication from the dataflow first ensure it's not mounted. If it is removed while mounted it will need to be unmounted manually from the mount host. 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 6

ZEN-9707 If an HNAS replication destination is mounted and the dataflow is removed the GUI will no longer show this is mounted. This makes it impossible to unmount it. Restarting the UI resolves the issue. ZEN-9702 When mounting a snapshot to a Linux server hosted on Microsoft Hyper-V it may be necessary to rescan for new disks on the Hyper-V server before the Linux host can see them. ZEN-9690 When performing an automated mount (re-purpose or proxy backup) for Oracle ASM the disks will be presented to the OS but will need to be manually mounted. ZEN-9594 When upgrading a HDID node that's part of a Microsoft Fail-over Cluster the error "HDID has encountered an error installing the VSS Provider" may occur. This can be safely ignored. ZEN-9361 ZEN-9353 AIX host-based backups do not capture ACLs. HNAS is not supported in a multi tenanted set-up. ZEN-9343 For mounting a hardware based snapshot to an ESX guest please see additional instruction on the knowledge base. Additional configuration of the ESX host is required for the guest to detect the disk. Until these additional steps are completed the guest will wait forever for the presented disk to appear. ZEN-9342 Changing the configuration of a replication by removing a volume can cause an error "Handler call failed: Could not start HORCM instance" This is a transitory issue only and the system will recover. ZEN-9323 Before issuing a revert operation the user should ensure the volume being reverted is not mounted, this can be confirmed from the storage screen, managed storage tab. If it is mounted the revert will fail silently. ZEN-9293 When defining a policy for Oracle RAC a schedule must be used. Using the 'Any-time' schedule and relying on the RPO setting only may cause more snapshots than expected. Additionally Oracle RAC nodes must have their times synchronized. ZEN-9283 Occasionally a push upgrade will fail. To resolve this a manual install on the node will be required. ZEN-9265 If a mount operation needs to mount multiple disks and one of the mounts fails the snapshot / replication destination is shown as mounted rather than partially mounted. The logs will indicate the mount was only partially successful. ZEN-9259 If the following error occurs during an upgrade please wait and retry, the binary is probably being slow to shutdown. If the problem persists seek assistance from HDS support. Error copying file from C:/Program Files/Hitachi/HDID/xxxxxxxx to C:/Program Files/Hitachi/HDID/xxxxxxxx --------------------------- Abort Retry Ignore --------------------------- 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 7

ZEN-9188 Only LTO drives are supported when using a virtual tape library presented by Hitachi Protection Platform. ZEN-9172 Reverting a Thin Image snapshot where its parent is the destination of an active Remote Copy is not possible and will result in an error of "The P-VOL is sharing the S-VOL of Remote Copy" To revert the Thin Image or ShadowImage the Remote Copy relationship must first be torn down by removing it from the dataflow and redistributing the rules. ZEN-9115 HDID does not support any Hitachi Block Storage LDEV with more than one partition / volume. ZEN-9059 When mounting a Linux snapshot to a different Linux machine; in order for the user and group names to be displayed correctly the users and groups must have the same ID's as the source. ZEN-8976 environment Revert is not a supported operation in an Exchange DAG ZEN-8943 Universal Replicator journals (primary and secondary) used for HDID orchestrated replication should be exclusively used by HDID ZEN-8881 If the source machine is unavailable it is not possible to revert a snapshot using HDID. In the case of a hardware path classification the source machine does not need to be available but it is important to unmount the volume before performing the revert. ZEN-8865 Its possible when defining an Hitachi block storage agentless node to enter an LDEV range not supported by the underlying hardware, this is not checked and can result in failed backups. ZEN-8824 The current activity report is limited to repository activity only. ZEN-8813 Authorizing multiple ISM nodes from the node management screen in one operation will fail. ZEN-8772 An ISM node should not be rebooted or shutdown when replications are being setup. If this happens the replications will continue, however HDID will not be aware of these replications when restarting and will attempt to set them up again. See knowledge base for how to recover from this ZEN-8722 On upgrade from HDIM to HDID the old shortcut will be left behind, this should be deleted as it no longer functions. ZEN-8701 The destination of a HNAS replication pair should be treated as read-only. If changes are made to the destination a replication refresh may not make the source and destination identical. ZEN-8656 If a replication needs to change from batch to live (or vice versa) the replication would need to be removed from the data flow and the rules redistributed, then the new replication defined. ZEN-8537 Excluding a VMWare ESX virtual machine will result in all but the excluded machine being backed up regardless of the inclusions. ZEN-8442 When mounting a snapshot there is always only one path to the disk. To make the mounted snapshot multipath requires additional steps outside of HDID. 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 8

ZEN-8355 When restoring a Windows Server 2012 Machine additional physical disks, aside from the one which contains the operating system, may not be brought online or given the correct drive letter automatically. This can be rectified in the disk management screen, and the original drive letters can be found within the fixed disk snapshot information on the master which the machine was restored from. ZEN-8343 The software snapshot feature only supports the use of the path classification. The fixed disk classification will not work. ZEN-8286 When performing a snapshot based on a hardware path, e.g. by specifying the LDEV explicitly, the only valid option when mounting is 'Expose volumes to the host but do not mount them'. However the other options are available but if used will be ignored. ZEN-8176 When mounting a snapshot that contains a mounted sub directory, the subdirectory will be mounted as expected. However, the volume referenced by the subdirectory will also be mounted as a separate drive. Unmount will unmount both the expected and unexpected mounts. ZEN-7985 There is currently no check to make sure the directory selected as the mount point is empty. This means it is possible to mount a snapshot inside or even over the top of another mounted volume. This should be avoided. ZEN-7831 If a path is excluded that is not a sub path of an included path HDID will backup more than expected. ZEN-7701 If the set-up of a replication fails HDID will not clean-up. Detailed steps to perform the clean-up by hand can be found on the HDS knowledge base ZEN-7676 When upgrading to 5.0 there maybe errors in the logs containing "Failed to load rules". This is due to HDID 4.x rules not being compatible with HDID 5.x rules. After upgrading all clients the rules should be redistributed from the master. ZEN-7116 It is not possible to validate a Hyper-V backup when using Clustered Shared Storage. It will fail with the error: "Error creating snapshot: Failed to create snapshot : (2147754771) VSS flush writes timeout" ZEN-7005 Using Exchange individual mailbox in a parent / child domain setup when both domains contain the same named distribution group only the parent domains distribution group will be protected. ZEN-6998 When stubbing to Azure if the stubbing criteria age is OR'ed with access it will not work as expected. Only the first of the 2 criteria will be used when determining what to stub. For example 'older than a week' or 'not accessed today' will result in files older than a week being stubbed, accessed today is ignored. ZEN-6643 If a stubbed file is accessed, the file is de-stubbed and will be resynchronized to the repository. If the file is renamed, or moved to a location within the policy scope before the partial resynchronization occurs, it s possible that any modifications made at that time (and from that point forward) will not be captured until you resynchronize the repository store. ZEN-6567 On some Linux distributions the avahi-daemon can interfere with HDID network communications. The may cause backups to fail. Disabling or uninstalling the 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 9

avahi-daemon resolves this issue. ZEN-6355 If sparse files are tiered to the HCP they will become non-sparse and will restore non-sparse. ZEN-6327 Performing live backup with stubbing, if a file is renamed after it has been tiered to HCP but before it is stubbed it will not be stubbed until it is edited again. This is also true for all files inside a directory that is renamed. This is not an issue with batch backup. ZEN-6310 When tiering to HCP, the option, 'Fast incremental based on file modification date', should be selected. Otherwise, during a batch resynchronization, all data that is tiered to the HCP will be transferred back to the repository. ZEN-6278 If a namespace on an HCP exceeds its quota then the repository will stop sending data to all namespaces until the quota issue is resolved. ZEN-6184 On Windows 7 32 bit and Windows 8 the HDID installer will not make a firewall exception for HDID. This will need to be added by hand. The TCP port 30304 is required to be open for incoming traffic. ZEN-6070 When an Exchange Users mailbox is deleted there will be warnings logged indicating the mailbox can't be accessed. After a maximum of 12 hours the warnings will stop. ZEN-5951 E-mail can't be exported to the file system if the resulting path is greater than 256 characters. Changing the target path for the restore may resolve the issue. ZEN-5852 If a folder is renamed during live capture of Microsoft Exchange, the event is not captured. E-mail messages will be consistent and all grouped in the same folder including any new e-mail messages added to the folder. However, a restore will bring back the old folder name. A resynchronization will resolve this issue. ZEN-4927 It is not possible to quiesce a Hyper-V application live backup ZEN-4732 HDID always attempts to send data directly to a node with a tape drive attached. This can cause issues with internet connected nodes that require communications to be routed through the master. If this functionality is required, then backup to a repository that is local to the tape drive, with a short retention, then forward to tape. ZEN-3814 Node names with more than 23 characters can cause problems with backup, restore, and node management functionality. ZEN-3748 Installing HDID from the CLI or using the unattended mode will fail to install the repository capability correctly. Only use the CLI or unattended mode to install clients. ZEN-2971 Occasionally, a restore from a system restore point may fail. It is recommended to stop the HDID file system filter prior to the restore. From the Command Line Interface, run 'sc stop dcefltr' to stop the filter. ZEN-2729 After a successful DR recovery the machine may need to be restarted a second time before HDID functions correctly. 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 10

ZEN-1922 If fast resynchronization is selected, and only file metadata changes, such as file ownership or file permissions between batch backups, then the changes are not captured. These changes are only captured when the file data changes. ZEN-1798 A symmetric mirror can only support two nodes, however it is possible to add more than two nodes to the symmetric mover node from the user interface. ZEN-1797 There may be a hidden directory 'HDID-RecycleBin' remaining on the root of the drives after an uninstall. It is safe to remove this post uninstall ZEN-1792 It is not possible to view log attachments from the client side restore user interface. ZEN-1790 DHCP Renewal can cause a temporary disconnection of a node which will get logged as "Machine has disconnected" with a subsequent log, "Machine has connected". If a host of virtual machines creates a Windows recovery point, then the hosted virtual machines may exhibit the same issue. ZEN-1789 Moving system time backwards is not recommended, as the CofioHub service will need to be restarted. ZEN-1788 When a node that has been assigned to another master is not discovered, it cannot provide any user feedback. ZEN-1783 If blocking activity by users that are not in the Administrators group, Windows may report a delayed "write failed" error during certain operations. In most cases, this can be ignored because data is not lost. ZEN-1781 In a forwarding topology network activity on the forwarding node is not displayed during resynchronization. ZEN-1780 Files added to a zip file using the right mouse click method are not tracked correctly when monitoring only that file type. For complete access, monitor the directory. ZEN-1776 Upgrading an OS (for example, Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows Vista) may require reinstalling HDID as different components are installed for different variations of Microsoft Windows. ZEN-1771 Currently HDID offers no protection for the "Block" operation. Blocks should only be applied to a sufficiently narrow set of classifications. ZEN-1761 HDID uses Java on the master and repository nodes. Before updating Java on these nodes, the service should be stopped to ensure that Java updates successfully. 2016 Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, All rights reserved 11
