Single-Line Telephone User Guide Please read this manual carefully before operating this product and save this manual for future use.

Before using Your Terminal Thank you for purchasing NEC SL2 system. Due to the flexibility built into the system, your Dialing Codes and Feature Capacities may differ from those in this guide. Check with your NEC Authorized Supplier / System Administrator and make a note of any differences. NEC Single-Line Telephone (AT-45) is displayed here. This User Guide describes general analog Single-Line Telephone (SLT) procedures. Refer to the User Guide included with to your specific SLT for details on additional key functions. Hookflash INDICATOR Flashes when you have Message Waiting or there is an incoming call. REDIAL Key Press REDIAL Key to automatically redial the last number you dialed. FLASH (RECALL) Key While on a call, press FLASH Key to hold the line. Placing Calls Place an Outside Call <Quick Access> Trunk Access Code Telephone Number 9 To change the Trunk Access Code, Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Listen to the Dial Tone before dialing a Telephone Number. Place an Intercom Call <Dial Access> Your call will ring or voice-announce. If you hear ringing, wait for an answer. If you hear a beep, begin speaking. Dialing changes voice/ring mode. (in case the destination is Multi-line Terminal) Placing Calls Quickly Abbreviated (Speed) Dialing <for Outside> Common ABB 2 Common ABB Bin Number Group ABB 4 Group ABB Bin Number The digit of Bin No. depends on the system setting. (-9<Only Group ABB> / -99 / -999) Telephone Numbers shall be pre-registered to the system. System setting is necessary for Group ABB. Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Last Number Dialing <for Outside/Intercom> 5 2

If your call doesn t go through Camp On / Callback Hear Busy Tone or No Answer 5 Camp On Callback Wait without hanging up Wait for the system to call you back Camp On In case of Intercom Call, when you hear ringing, wait for the called party to answer. In case of Outside Call, when you hear Dial Tone, begin telephone number dialing. Callback In case of Intercom Call, when your terminal starts the ringing, lift handset and wait for the called party to answer. In case of Outside Call, when your terminal starts the ringing, lift handset, hear Dial Tone, and begin telephone number dialing. This function is applicable in case all trunks are busy condition. (not applicable for dialed outside party busy) Camp On / Callback (In case of Camp On) / Answer a Message Waiting Hear Busy Tone or No Answer Answer Your terminal s Indicator is flashing in Red When you set a MW, the called party s Indicator starts to flash. When you answer a MW, the Indicator shall automatically be off when the called party answers. Message Waiting Individual (originated extension) All (at any extension)

Answering Calls Answering an Outside Call / Intercom Call (at Ringing Extension) Ringing Picking Up a Call for other Extensions In same Group In other Group 6 9 Specified Extension System setting is necessary to make Call Pickup Group. Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Hold / Transferring Calls Holding a Call / Retrieving a Held Call Hold FLASH / RECALL Key (or Hookflash) Retrieve FLASH / RECALL Key (or Hookflash) Talking DO NOT Hang Up! If you go on hook, the held call will ring back. This operation puts your outside call on Exclusive Hold. Other extension user can not take the call off Hold. Retrieve a Held Outside Call 6 2 Trunk Number you want to retrieve For the dial digit of Trunk Number, ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Transferring a Call to the other Extension FLASH / RECALL Key (or Hookflash) Talking Announce 4

For more Convenient Use Do Not Disturb (DND) 2 4 DND : Trunk Incoming Call DND : Intercom Incoming Call DND : Trunk & Intercom Incoming Call DND : Transferred (CFW) Call DND : When you set DND function, the Internal Dial Tone pattern shall be changed. Conference FLASH / RECALL Key (or Hookflash) Repeat for additional parties Talking FLASH / RECALL Key (or Hookflash) Trunk Access Code Telephone Number Talking <Twice> Start Conference 9 You can repeat this operation to add more parties. You may be able to have up to 6 parties. (include your extension) May need to adjust the volume level due to the Environment where calls are placed. Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Call Forwarding / Follow Me When you set Call Forward / Follow Me function, the Internal Dial Tone pattern shall be changed. Call Forward Immediate 5

Built-In Automated Attendant System setting is necessary to use Built-In Automated Attendant. Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Record / Listen / Erase Answering Messages 6 6 Record Message Number ( ) Stop REC Listen 5 Message Number ( ) Recording Listening Erase Message Number ( ) Listening Up to types of messages can be recorded. The Message length can not exceed 4 minutes.

In-Mail (Voice Mail) System setting is necessary to use In-Mail (Voice Mail) feature. Ask your NEC Authorized Supplier for the details. Log-On to the In-Mail Voice Mail Pilot Number Your Mailbox Number Security Code (if it is set) Main Menu Main Menu Listen to Messages L 5 While listening you can: E Erase Msg RE Record Reply Mark Message as new MM 66 Pause/Resume Listening MF Have Msg Forwarded 6 Listen to Next Msg L 5 N Select New Message List 6 MC Make Call to Sender 62 Backup a Few Seconds B 2 S Select Saved Message List TI Get TIme, Date 84 BB Backup to Beginning 22 A Select All Message List 2 SA SAve Message 2 G Go Ahead a Few Seconds 4 Exit Listen Mode Record & Send Message RS G Mailbox Greeting 4 Callers hear your active greeting (-) only if you do not answer or are busy. If Auto Attendant DND is ON, the Auto Attendant does not ring your phone. Callers immediately hear your active greeting. If OFF, the Auto Attendant will try your extension. While recording you can: Pause/Resume Erase Recording E End Recording Enter mailbox number, then: Reenter mailbox number Send Message RN Record Mailbox Name 6 In-Mail will play your mailbox name in the voice prompts instead of your mailbox number. In-Mail (Voice Mail) Mailbox Greeting Greeting Option Greeting No. (-) Record Stop REC 4 Return to Main Menu Log-On to the In-Mail Listen Recording Finish 5 Listening Erase Selected Greeting (one of three) shall be made active. Mailbox Security Code Log-On to the In-Mail Mailbox Option Security Code (4 digits, using -9) Accept 6 Delete Security Code Return to Main Menu The type of Security Code can be assigned as below. - Dial 4 digits Security Code followed by : Security Code for all log-on - Dial 4 digits Security Code followed by 6 : Security Code for remote log-on only System Administrator can delete a Mailbox Security Code. Listen to Left Messages in your Mailbox Basic Operation without Function Key (Unique Dial Tone) Voice Mail Pilot Number Mailbox Number Security Code (if it is set) Listen 5 Listening
