INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing your Geemarc t-loop amplified powered neckloop from Sound SolutionsTM. The Geemarc t-loop can be used with cellular or landline telephones together with a hearing aid that has a t-coil. The Geemarc t-loop can also be used as an amplified audio neckloop for a variety of audio devices using the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter provided. This neckloop uses an induction loop system which helps people who use a hearing aid to hear sounds more clearly because it reduces or cuts out background noise. The Geemarc t-loop transforms the sound emitted by an telephone/audio device into an acoustic field compatible with hearing aids set to the T position. Simply plug the neckloop into your telephone and you can make and receive calls as normal without needing to hold the telephone. The microphone in the Geemarc t-loop allows you to speak directly to the caller. Note: users of digital hearing aids must make sure their aids have been programmed for use with the T setting. This neckloop can be used with telephones equipped with a 2.5mm microphone/headset socket (Geemarc products such as AMPLI Dect, CL200, 400, 600, 1400 are good examples). It is also compatible with most mobile telephones (you may need to purchase a connector if your cellular telephone does not have a suitable 2.5mm headset socket). Its is important that you read the instructions below in order to use your Geemarc t-loop to its full potential. Keep this user guide in a safe place for future reference. 3

INTRODUCTION Unpacking the Geemarc t-loop When unpacking the Geemarc t-loop, you should find the following in the box: 1 Neckloop and neckloop unit 2.5mm telephone connector plug 2 AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter 1 User Guide 4

INSTALLATION Setting Up NOTE: Ensure your telephone equipment is UL/ETL approved before connecting the Geemarc t-loop. Please refer to your telephone user guide. Open the battery compartment found on the back of the Geemarc t- LOOP. Insert the 2 supplied alkaline batteries (AAA size, 1.5V type) into the battery compartment. Check the battery polarity diagrams in the battery compartment when inserting the batteries. Replace the battery cover. Note: The Geemarc t-loop must not be connected to the telephone when installing the batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Do not put batteries into the household rubbish, pay attention to battery regulations regarding battery disposal. Low Batteries The low battery indicator will turn red to indicate the batteries should be changed. The indicator will only turn red while in use. Replace the batteries as soon as possible. 5

USING THE GEEMARC t-loop Making and Receiving Calls Place the wire around your neck. Insert the round connector plug into the Neckloop Quick Disconnect plug; this forms a loop around your neck. Ensure you have double clicked the connection. Connect the 2.5mm plug of the Geemarc t-loop into the telephone s 2.5 mm headset jack Switch your hearing aid to T (or MT) mode. Press the ON/OFF button; you are ready to speak through your Geemarc t-loop. The green light will turn on. Make and receive calls as normal (refer to telephone user guide) The volume of the Geemarc t-loop can be adjusted by using the volume control knob found on the bottom of the Geemarc t-loop. This gives up to 30 db gain. Press the ON/OFF button when the call is finished. The green light will turn off. Reset your hearing aid if necessary. Do not forget to turn OFF your Geemarc t-loop at the end of the call. Failure to do this will drain the batteries after about 30 hours. Note: The Geemarc t-loop has a built in microphone hence you do not need to hold the telephone to your ear. Instead, you can use it with a belt clip or place it on a flat surface such as a table. If your telephone does not have a 2.5mm jack, you may need an adapter. Check with the telephone manufacturer. 6

USING THE GEEMARC t-loop Using as a Personal Audio Neckloop The Geemarc t-loop can be converted easily to a 3.5mm amplified Audio Neckloop. Simply plug the 2.5mm end of Geemarc t-loop into the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter provided, then insert the adapter into your device with a 3.5mm audio jack e.g. a CD player, MP3 or any device that has an 8-16 Ohm audio output through a 3.5mm jack. Note: Only use the adapter supplied when connnecting the Geemarc t-loop to an audio device. The Geemarc t-loop is compatible with cell phones that provide stereo music. In order for the Geemarc t-loop to work, you must use an adapter that converts the 2.5mm connector on the cell phone to function as standard mono connector. You can get these adapters from your cell phone manufacturer. You will need to need to check that the 2.5mm connector on the cell phone will work with a standard mono hands-free headset such as the Geemarc t-loop. 7

TROUBLESHOOTING The LED is Red Change the batteries There is no sound from my Geemarc t-loop Ensure the headset is securely plugged in Ensure the volume is correctly adjusted Ensure the batteries are not flat Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly Ensure the Geemarc t-loop is switched on Ensure the telephone is switched on There is a weak sound from my Geemarc t-loop The batteries may be running out Turn up the volume on the Geemarc t-loop Turn up the volume on the telephone Check your hearing aid 8

SAFETY INFORMATION General Do not open the unit. Contact the helpline for all repairs. Avoid dropping the unit. Keep the Geemarc t-loop out of small children s reach. Cleaning Clean the Geemarc t-loop with a soft cloth. Never use polishes or cleaning agents - they could damage the finish or the electrics inside. Environmental Do not expose to direct sunlight. Always ensure there is a free flow of air over the surfaces of the Geemarc t-loop Do not place any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp or humid conditions e.g. bathrooms. Do not expose your product to fire or other hazardous conditions. If the Geemarc t-loop is not in use do not store it with batteries installed for an extended length of time. Avoid using the telephone during electrical storms as there is a remote risk of receiving an electric shock from lightning. If you suspect a gas leak in the area do not use the telephone. The phone s electrical contacts could create a spark, which could ignite leaking gas. 9
