To allow you to operate this player as quickly as possible, please first refer to this user manual included with to obtain information about the product and operating methods. Before using the KanguruMP3 player, please carefully read all data provided with the KanguruMP3 player, so that you may have a better understanding of this product. Safety Precautions Please remove the battery if the KanguruMP3 player will not be used for a prolonged period of time. Do not use the KanguruMP3 player in extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid conditions. Protect the player from falling, rubbing, or compacting while in use, this may lead to cosmetic damage or damage of internal hardware. Please replace the battery under the following circumstances: o In normal operation, the player will power off automatically after the battery symbol is empty and battery low message is shown. o The operating buttons do not respond and the battery symbol is empty 3

Avoid operating this player under extremely dry conditions, so as to prevent damage to the hardware inside the player by high static. When the player is connected to the PC and is formatting, uploading, or downloading, the connection should not be stopped abruptly or it can lead to program error and failure to power on. When the player is used as a removable disk, the user should store files under appropriate operation methods for file management. Kanguru Solutions will not be responsible for any loss of files. It is recommended that you backup the data on the player to your PC at regularly scheduled intervals. Note: The battery meter may change during playing. This is generated from different power consumption during use and playback. It will not affect the normal functions of the player and should not be mistaken as quality problem. Functional Description o Superb exterior design o Superb exterior design and comfortable handling Support for multiple audio formats o Music formats including MPEG1/MPEG2/MPEG2.5 Layer2/3,WMA and WAV. Driver-free operation o File operation can be done directly through Removable Disk in My Computer without any additional software. No driver is needed in most newer systems. Tone equalizer EQ modes include Common, Pop, Rock, Classic, Jazz and Base. Multiple playing modes o Playing modes include, Normal, Repeat 1, Repeat all, Random all, Play directory, Repeat directory, and Random play directory. Timed power-off o Configurable automatic power-off timer Graphical menu o Visual graphic menu with LCD display for ease of use. Synchronized lyrics o Supports synchronized lyric display using LRC files. Multi-languages o 7 languages including Simplifi ed Chinese, German, Italian, France, Portuguese, Spanish, and English can be selected. 4

ON/OFF 1. Please make sure the player is unlocked. The Hold key should be in the unlocked position. 2. Power on: While player is off, press and hold button to power on the player. 5

3. Power off: While player is on, press and hold button while the words Power off display on screen. Press and hold until the progress bar is full and see you appears. Note: (1) When powering on, the player may temporarily pause (duration of the pause links to the player capacity). The player is initializing and is subject to this normal operation. (2) Power-on memory function: When the player powers on, it will start from the time at previous power-off (music, FM, and E -book). If powering off under Pause status, it will enter the position that is playing at the time of previous power-off. (3) If there is any failure during operation, the player can be powered on by taking out the battery and then putting it back In. II. Music playback In main menu screen you can choose the Music Mode by pressing the buttons, as the following figure shows: Short press to enter Music Mode and short press to start playing the current song. This displays such information as song number, type, and name, singer, lyrics, sound effect mode, bit rate, repeat mode, A-B repeat mode, volume, charge display as well as the play duration current song. Under Play status, you can pause by first short pressing button; continue to play by short pressing button again, or stop playing the current song and ret urning to the main screen by long pressing button.?? Note: synchronized lyric display The player supports *.LRC lyrics files to achieve synchronized play between lyrics and the songs. Keep the names of lyrics files consistent with that of the song files. 1. Music Selection 6

button: choose the previous song; button: choose the next song. 2. Volume adjustment button: volume up; button: volume down. 3. Fast forward/backward During Music Playback, long press button for fast forward of the current song and for fast backward. 4. A-B repeat Under music play mode, first short press button to confirm the start point for repeat with displayed on the screen, second short press button to confirm the end point with displayed, and third press to cancel the repeat function. 5. Record Stop the current song, then short press button to enter the MIC record mode and automatically start recording. Press button to pause recording, press button again to continue recording. Long press playback screen, then press button to save the recording and automatically switch to audio button to play the recorded file. Recording screen III. Voice replay In main menu screen, the Voice Replay mode is chosen by pressing following figure: button, shown in the Short press button to confirm entering audio play mode; short press button to play the current recorded file; short press button again to pause the current file and long press button to return to main screen. Radio Program recording Short press the button to record the program played in the current channel, press to pause or continue recording, and long press to save the clip and return to the FM Radio screen Note: As the antenna for the radio, earphone s must be plugged during FM radio/fm record mode. Otherwise, there will be low/no signal. Radio Presets 1. Select the radio station you want save as a preset. 2. Press the button, so that it say PRESET right above the station call number. 3. Hit the button, this will take you to the previ ous menu. 4. Scroll until you see Save Preset 5. Hit the switch again. This will save your preset and put you back into radio mode screen. VI. Setting In the main menu, press button to select Setting mode Short press button to enter the Setting screen; choose an item by and press to confirm to enter. The detailed functions and operations are as follows: 1. Sound effect setting Sets 6 EQ modes: Normal, Pop, Rock, Classic, Jazz and Bass. Press to select and press to confirm. 2. Repeat mode Sets 7 repeat modes: No repeat, Repeat one, Repeat all, Random all, Play in directory, Repeat in directory and Random in directory. 9

3. Contrast Sets different Contrast levels. 4. Light time Sets different light timing: Off/ 5seconds/ 10seconds/ always on 5. Light color Sets different light colors: Blue/ Green/ Cyan/ Red/ Pink/ Yellow/ White/ Color Random 6. Auto Power Off Sets the auto-power off time: disable / 2min / 10min / 30min 7. Sample Rate Setting Sets the sampling rate for voice recording: 32Kbps, 44Kbps, 64Kbps and 88Kbps 8. Language setting Sets the language: English, Simple Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese 10

9. Exit Press M button to exit the setting mode and return to main menu. VII. Information Displays the total storage, remaining storage, and version no. of the player. VIII. Folder Press to enter the Folder menu. Press to select the file you desire, and press to enter a sub-menu as following: 1) Play file now? Press to confirm to play the selected song; 2) Delete file or not? Press button, press to select Yes/No. Press to confirm the delete operation or cancel. USB mode Please power off the player and connect the USB interface of the player with that of the computer. You should always use the supplied USB extension cable to avoid damage to the player s connector. The player will automatically enter the USB Connection Mode. 1. When the player is connected by USB, the it will automatically enter USB Connection Mode. 2. When the computer is connected with the player, directly drag or copy the data to be stored in 11

Removable disk after Removable disk is found in My Computer. i. Note: the connection between the mp3 player and the computer should not be disconnected during transmission of data. This may lead to an error in data transmission or player failure. The two folders marked in red above are the record folders automatically generated by the player. You may delete then however the player will generate them again after it is powered on. Do not place songs or data into these two or three folders 3. After the data transmission is completed, we recommend you eject the drive using Windows safely remove hardware located in the bottom right of the taskbar. 12

Win98 Driver setup 1) separate driver Installation is not necessary for Windows 2000/XP/or Vista. Prior to and during driver setup, please do not connect the player with the computer. Run the Win98.exe file on CD and confirm after choosing a language in the pop-up dialog box and enter the following screen: Then click next to enter Setup Destination Setting screen. Click Browse to choose a folder for the setup files, shown in the following figure: 13

Confirm after the destination is set and click Next Choose the name of the program file, click Next and start setup. The progress screen is shown as the following figure: After setup is complete the computer will need to be re -booted for the driver installation to finish. Trouble shooting 1) The player does not power on? A: Please check if the battery charge is sufficient. 2) The response speed of the MP3 player becomes slow? 14

A: There will be fragments(similar to those on a hard disk) on the internal flash memory after the MP3 player undergoes long-time usage or frequent delet ion of files, leading to a slowed response speed. The problem can be solved by formatting the player. 3) No sound when playing songs? A: Please check if the volume is at the minimum, if the music files are the correct format, and if the earphones are plugged into the jack fully. 15
