1 1 Overview This document contains release notes for the release of the Remote Agent Console. Remote Agent Console is a web application running on a Windows 2003 Server with Internet Information Server (IIS) installed. Remote Agent Console is used through a supported web browser on a network to access existing (already installed) 5.6x, 6.0 Agent(s), and 5.5, 6.0 Vault(s) on different servers. To access the Remote Agent Console program, you only need a web browser, IE version 5.5 (and up), or Firefox 2.0 (and up). The Remote Agent Console program is meant to augment or replace the regular Windows Agent Console application. By using a web browser from anywhere on an Intranet, the user is able to perform the same functions as the Agent Console program running as an application on a Windows machine. Upgrades of Remote Agent Console6.1 are only supported from Remote Agent Console version 5.61/6.0. 1.1 Release History and Changes September 12th, 2007, First release, version 6.00.2362 December 21st, 2007, Second release, version 6.10.2411 1.2 Supported Agents and Plug-Ins Remote Agent Console supports the following Agents and Plug-in Products: - Agent for Windows 5.6x, and 6.0 - Exchange DR and MAPI Plug-In 5.6x, 6.0 - Oracle for Windows Plug-In 5.6x, 6.0 - SQL Plug-In 5.6x, 6.0 - Cluster Plug-In 5.6x, 6.0 - SharePoint Plug-In 6.0 - VMware ESX Agent and Plug-In 5.6 - Agent for HP-UX 6.0 - Agent for Linux 5.6x, 6.0(next future release) - Agent for AIX 5.6x - Agent for Solaris 5.6x - Oracle for Solaris Plug-In 5.6x 2 Features in the 6.10 release: User configurable backups and restore process priority with 10 levels of granularity. Support for Linux 6.0(next future release) and HP-UX 6.0 Agents. Agent Type icon indicator. To help distinguish between Desktop Agents and other Agents, a new icon is visible in the Agent list which is different for each agent type: Server, Cluster, Virtual, and Desktop.
2 Remote Agent Console is now supported on a Firefox 2.0 web browser. Remote Agent Console shows a deferred job status for jobs which have completed but have deferred some data. There are three new job status states: Deferred, Deferred with Errors, and Deferred with Warnings. Searching Agents now allows you to search for deferred agents as well. Users can now dismiss or ask to be reminded later for each message on the dashboard. Desktop Agent is disabled. If an Agent is identified as a Desktop Agent, then the Remote Agent Console UI will become disabled for that agent. Users will be able to view the agent, and agent settings but will not be able to modify the settings for that agent. Features in the 6.00 release: Added localized languages in French, Spanish, and German. The Remote Agent Console system administrator can configure which languages they want to expose to their users. Firefox 2.0 support for Windows and Linux. Support for SharePoint Plug-In for backup and restores of MS SharePoint Server Portal 2003. Support for Windows Vista backup and Restore by 6.0 Agents. Support for MS Exchange 2007 DR and MAPI backup and restore functionality by 6.0 Agents. Greater Agent Off-Line details. The last date and time an agent was on-line is now shown when the agent is off-line. Improved Missed Job Details: Remote Agent Console will now indicate which jobs are missed jobs when an Agent has one or more missed Jobs. Change Vault Credential information: Users can now change the account and username of existing vault registrations on an agent. Disable Bandwidth Throttling on Restore: The option to use all available bandwidth on restore is now available. Re-sizable windows and panes on Remote Agent Console's main pages allow for better and customizable viewing on higher resolution screens. Custom Quick Links: Super users can create custom quick links which will show in the quick link list for all users. User can Create Personal Group Folders and Create Personal Group Searches (not shared with other users).
3 Group Folders can nest inside other Group Folders in a hierarchical fashion. One Time Agent Search or Job Search capabilities added for quick searches. A "Force Change Password" option is available (selected by default) when a SuperUser or Account Administrator creates a new user, or resets a password for an existing user. Encryption Password Hint: Users can now enter an encryption password hint as part of job configuration. User Lockout Reset: Now, if a user is locked out, they can contact their account administrator or super user who can unlock their account through the user management control. Status program: The status page is a single standalone page which checks the status of these Remote Agent Console components: Database; Session State; AMP Service, Registration Service; Notification Service; Last Job Status Update. A program like Nagios can check this page to see if the overall status is "ALL_OKAY".
