CHAPTER 1 ESRI Map Objects 2.4 Mo24rt.exe Important this MUST be done before installing MapCapture and has to be installed as a System Administrator This needs to be executed from the run prompt on the start menu with the following extensions. This will install the ESRI MapObjects runtime application. Copy the Mo24rt.exe to the c drive root folder. Then click the start button and select the run option. (this may not be available if you are not logged in as a system administrator) C:\Mo24rt.EXE /ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQX Click ok and the installer will begin. 1
Once the installation has completed the box will disappear and the install has finished. 2
CHAPTER 2 Installation Guide Introduction This document is a guide to the installation of MapCapture and covers in detail all the step s in the installation process. 3
CHAPTER 3 Installation Running the MC4_3_0_setup.exe Double click the MC4 setup icon and the installation will begin If you get this screen during the installation you have missed install step one the installation of the MapObject Runtime please refer to chapter 1. 4
When this screen appears click next 5
The License screen will then appear Check the I Accept radio button and then click next Please enter the user details and then click next 6
At this point you can select a different installation folder if required, the default is c:\exor\mc4\ The installation will then continue after clicking next. 7
Having checked your options click the Install button to complete the installation. The confirmation Screen will then appear 8
Click the finish button when it appears. After Installation the following directory structure will be created. We now need to run the MapCapture shortcut from the desktop by double clicking on the icon. This will create a number of other folders that we require to move on. You will get the following messages on the initial first startup but do not worry. Select the No button 9
Once MapCapture starts select the close button 10
Then select the file / exit from the menu. Now that we have closed MapCapture the following menu structure will have been created under the MC4 folder. 11
We now need two files to allow MapCapture to work these are:- 1 A Current PED file created from the main exor system using form MAI3863 2 A network Shape file typically extracted from Spatial Data Manager or Spatial Manager. 12
CHAPTER 4 PED file Generation MAI3863 Ped file Creation The PED file is a file that contains all the metadata from the main exor application. This is used to ensure that the data collected by MapCapture is compatible with the main database and loading problems will be minimised. Whenever you make a significant change to the setup of your exor system create new network elements, add new asset types, add new inspection types) you should create a new PED file. To create a PED file, follow these steps. Log into exor as the main Highways owner and go to form MAI3863. This can be selected through fastpath. 13
Note that the Listeners must be running to get the required file out. For more information contact your exor Administrator. Having completed the mandatory fields (it doesn t matter which road type or road id you select) click on the running person icon in the top left of the form to run the PED file extract. When the extract is running, you should click the Spooled Output tab to ascertain the name of the new PED file. The PED file, as extracted by the extract function, will be left on the database server. Should you need to transfer it to your PC, use the Download From Oracle Directory function. This can be found under the exor/directory management folder on the launchpad 14
Select INTERPATH from the menu, click [View Files], then select the relevant PED file from the picklist. When you click the [Download] button, the PED file will then be downloaded onto your PC Rename this file to survey.ped You should then copy the PED file to the metadata folder under the MapCapture folder on each of your DCDs. 15
CHAPTER 5 Getting a Network Shapefile Network Shapefile using Spatial Manager I will be using Spatial Manager for this process but other GIS systems can be used to generate the required shape file. Having selected the required area click on the Display tab. Right click on the Network Layer you wish to export goto Data / export data 16
The Export data box will appear Select the location you want to send the output to then select the ok button. This will now generate the required network files NOTE :- For Mapcapture to work you will require two key fields in the shape file these are AGENCY and LINKCODE as one field and SECTION as another for example Typical Example for RMMS type Network 1234A354 P/12345 Agency Code of 1234 4 Characters Linkcode of A354 P 6 Characters Section Number 00045 5 Characters These have to match the format of your main exor system. These resulting fields in the shape file need to be AGENCYLINKCODE 1234A354 P SECTION 00045 17
CHAPTER 6 Running MapCapture You should now see the MapCapture icon on your desktop, double click on the icon to start the application MapCapture Icon After clicking on the icon you will see the screen below and flashing at the bottom you will see the edif file being read, the screen shot below is reading the type 4 records Having read the edif file you may get a message telling you there were errors or warnings in the file. 18
If you see this message a log file will have been created in the same metadata folder. Having clicked the OK message you will get the main Launch Window MapCapture is now installed and ready to be configured. Please read the Configuration Guide. 19
