SSL Certificate usage optional provided by customer. SSL Certificate usage optional provided by customer. Report Exec Systems Diagram IIS Web Server Holds the Report Exec web applications. SSL can be employed to secure the data transport level. Default settings save encrypted digital media to a directory named Data within the user side web application. Web.config files for the sites contain encrypted connection string for data connection. SQL Data Server SQL server that contains the Report Exec database (named REX by default). Application creates a SQL resource account for web applications that is used to connect and authenticate to the database with. Connection string is encrypted and used by the web application to securely authenticate to the REX database. Queries, post backs, and saves are handled by stored procedures in the SQL database. IIS Server Report Exec Websites Note: IIS and SQL can be on the same server or separate. SQL Server Report Exec Database Encrypted connection string on website holds connection FIREWALL FOR INTERNET DEPLOYMENT The default internet port (80) needs to be opened for the web server. The default SSL port (443) needs to be opened if SSL will be invoked. Dispatch s connect direct to SQL. The default SQL port (1433) needs to be opened for the Dispatch client workstations. If custom ports are used instead of default ports then the custom port numbers need to be opened. From the workstations, the users need to run the web application in Windows using Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. On a Mac computer, users need to use Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. Dispatch Dispatch From the workstations, the users will direct connect to the database through port 1433, or the specified SQL port. Mobile Device Mobile Device Mobile devices need to be using the Report Exec Mobile App in either ios version 7.1.2 (or higher) or Android version 4.4 KitKat (or higher). Workstations need Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 Extended installed to operate Dispatch, and Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 for the option to run certain Dispatch reports. Dispatch is not compatible with Mac computers. 3

Server Specifications The server specs recommended by Report Exec do not reflect the normal server disk space and resource usage from programs outside of the Report Exec application, such as Windows Updates or SQL Updates. The total amount of disk space and other resources that will be needed for the Report Exec application on the servers will depend on the organization s projected usage of the application, and the number of simultaneous users that are expected to use the application at any given time. The SQL and IIS servers can be installed on the same server machine or on different machines as needed. IIS is needed for the Report Exec Admin website where many setup functions for Dispatch are done. Note: The IIS Server needs.net Framework 4.5 installed. The SQL Server only needs.net Framework 4.5 if the SQL installation file needs to be ran directly on the server. Server OS The following server Operating Systems are supported: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Microsoft SQL Server The following versions of Microsoft SQL Server are supported: RAM (10.00) SQL Server 2008 (10.50) SQL Server 2008 R2 (11.00) SQL Server 2012 (12.00) SQL Server 2014 Report Exec Enterprise will need a minimum of 2GB of RAM assigned to SQL in order to function at a basic level. Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least 4GB of available RAM assigned to SQL for optimal database performance. Processor The server will need to have at least two cores in order for the Report Exec Enterprise application to behave properly. Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least a Quad-core processor, or better, for optimal performance. Disk Space The SQL database is designed to perpetually build upon itself and will grow over time. When first starting out with Report Exec Enterprise, the database file size is small. Growth depends on the amount of data being entered, but even some of the oldest Report Exec databases are still only around 16GB total after years of use. IIS Web Server Internet Information Services (IIS) is native on a Windows Server once the proper Role Services are installed. IIS 7.0 IIS 8.5 are supported. RAM Report Exec Enterprise will need a minimum of 2GB of RAM available in order to function at a basic level. Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least 4GB of available RAM for a smooth application experience. 4

Processor The server will need to have at least two cores in order for the Report Exec Enterprise application to behave properly. Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least a Quad-core processor for optimal performance. Disk Space The IIS web server will store all Digital Media that is attached to a report in the Report Exec Enterprise program. Disk space usage will greatly depend on the amount of digital media (images, documents, etc.) that is being uploaded to reports. Specifications computers that use Report Exec Enterprise should meet today s industry standards for normal or workstation computers. The workstations that will operate Report Exec Dispatch must be running at least Microsoft Windows 7 or higher. The Report Exec Enterprise application will function properly in Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. Report Exec Dispatch does not function on Mac computers at this time. There needs to be enough available resources on the computer to properly use a complex web application that is delivered to the end-user through a web-browser. Network/Internet bandwidth will also determine how well the Report Exec Application behaves. OS (Dispatch) Windows The following versions of Windows are supported: Windows 7 Windows 8 Windows 8.1 Windows 10 Note: Report Exec Dispatch does not function on Mac computers at this time. Web Browsers (Enterprise) Windows The following web browsers can be used in Windows: Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11 Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Microsoft Edge (Windows 10) Mac OSX The following web browsers can be used on a Mac computer: Safari Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox 5

Report Exec Dispatch Workstations RAM Report Exec Dispatch communicates over the network or internet with a Microsoft SQL Server database. It is recommended that the client workstations have a minimum of 2GB of RAM available for quick responsiveness of the program. Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least 4GB of RAM on Dispatch computers for this purpose. Processor Processing power of the Dispatch workstations is important. Dispatch can function on older Pentium based machines, but Report Exec Technical Support recommends at least a multi-core processor or better. Disk Space Not much is stored on client computers for Dispatch. It is recommended to have at least 100 MB of free disk space for a new Report Exec Dispatch installation. Software Requirements Report Exec Dispatch currently only works on a Windows OS. In order for the Report Exec Dispatch client to properly communicate with the SQL database on the server, a firewall port may need to be manually opened by the organization s I.T. Department. Microsoft SQL Server uses port 1433 by default. Additionally, the following two Microsoft files are needed in order for Report Exec Dispatch to fully function: Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 User Firewall Requirements Report Exec Enterprise The Report Exec Enterprise webpages for self-hosted agencies will use standard internet ports 80 or 443 unless otherwise specified. Agencies using the Report Exec Direct solution should only need port 443. Ports required by default for Report Exec Enterprise (self-hosted) agencies: - Port 80 (http - unsecured) - Port 443 (https - secured) Report Exec Dispatch The Report Exec Dispatch client connects directly to the SQL server via the port used by the SQL server. Microsoft SQL Server uses port 1433 by default unless otherwise specified. Agencies using the Report Exec Direct solution connect directly to Report Exec s SQL server. The port required for Dispatch clients to connect will be provided with the initial connection instructions. Contact Report Exec Technical Support if this information has been lost. Port required by default for Report Exec Enterprise (self-hosted) agencies: - Port 1443 (TCP) incoming and outgoing Microsoft SQL Server users port 1443 by default. This can be changed by an agency s DBA if required. 6
