Install Fiery Driver version 4.8 with Point and Print After Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software is installed on the Fiery Color Server, you can download and install the printer driver on the client computer with Point and Print. You can then print to a particular connection (Print queue, Hold queue, Direct connection, or Sequential Print queue). 1 On the client computer, select Start > Run and then type \\<IP address>, where IP address is the address of the Fiery Color Server. For example, type \\10.10.10.10, and then press Enter on the keyboard. The printer drivers for the following print connections are shown: Hold Print Direct Sequential 2 Double-click the printer driver that you want to install. Each connection requires a separate installation. Repeat the procedure for each connection. Addendum to the Printing Guide This chapter describes additions and corrections to Printing to describe the new features in Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software. The following new features and print options are supported in version 2.1: Fold: Spine formed half fold setting (Job Properties Finishing tab) Staple: Center 2 position and Center 4 position settings available with the SD-513 finisher Crease print option (Job Properties Finishing tab) Slit print options (Job Properties Finishing tab) Free Crease web application Fiery JDF feature for Fiery ES IC-415 Note: To use the new print options, the Saddle Stitch Unit (SD-513 finisher) must be installed. For information about Fiery Color Server support for installing finishers and other installable options, see the printer driver help. Software support for the Saddle Stitch Unit (SD-513 finisher) The Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software supports the Saddle Stitch Unit, SD-513 finisher, for saddle-stitch printing, which can be used with the creaser, slitter, and spine corner form options. The following print options are associated with the SD-513 finisher and are available on the Finishing tab in Job Properties, which can be accessed either from the printer driver or Command WorkStation. Fold: Spine formed half fold (square fold) print option is used to compress the spine edge of your booklet print job. This option requires a 5-sheet minimum.

Note: The Spine formed half fold setting cannot be used with the Crease print option. Fold style Fold illustration Spine formed half fold Crease: Crease print option is used to make crease lines on sheets of paper. The available settings are Off, Tri-fold, Multi half fold cover, Perfect bind cover, and Free crease. Perfect bind cover is available when the 1-up Perfect booklet type with Left Binding are selected for the Booklet print option in the Layout tab. Free crease is available when the Fold print option is Off or 1-up Perfect is not selected for the booklet type. If Free crease is selected, the crease positions are defined in the Free Crease web application. Keep in mind the following when you use the Crease print option: The crease is always perpendicular to the paper feed direction. If Tri-fold or Multi half fold cover is selected, creasing positions are detected automatically. If Multi half fold is selected for the Fold print option, creasing is executed only for the cover sheet If Spine formed half fold is select for the Fold print option, creasing is not available. If you set Crease print option with 1-up Perfect binding, you must enter more than 1.0 mm for the Spine width print option from the Layout tab. Note: For the allowed creasing patterns and print margins, see the documentation that accompanies the finisher. Staple: Staple print option is used to specify the number of staples and their positions. Center 2 position and Center 4 position are settings for center stapling for saddle stitch booklets when the SD-513 finisher is installed on the printer. Slit: 2-side slit print option specifies slit cross-feeding edges of sheets of paper. The available settings are Off, All sheets, and Cover only. All sheets mode is available when a job has the Fold print option set to Off, Multi half fold, or Multi tri-fold. The 2-side slit feature is executed only for the cover sheet when 1-up perfect is selected for the booklet type. Slit: Units (mm and inches) print option specifies the unit of measurement to use for the slit. Slit: Rear (8.001-26.000 mm, 0.315-1.024 in.) print option defines the slit width with respect to the paper direction (bottom edge) to the rear side of the printer. Slit: Offset against body (-1.002-1.002 mm, -0.039-0.039 in.) print option defines slitting width for body sheets. Slit: Front (8.001-26.000 mm, 0.315-1.024 in.) print option defines the slit width with respect to the paper direction (leading edge) to the front side of the printer. Free Crease web application To support the SD-513 Free Crease feature, the Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software includes the Free Crease web application, a webpage-based user interface that makes it possible to add creases at customized positions. The following web browsers are supported: Windows OS: Internet Explorer 10 or later, Firefox 31.0 or later, Chrome 37.0 or later Mac OS: Safari 7 or later, Firefox 31.0 or later, Chrome 37.0 or later

The Fiery Color Server includes Internet Explorer 10 as the default browser. The Free Crease web application makes it possible to add up to four creases at customized positions within a document. Free creases can be applied to any type of print job, and the job can be sent to the printer by importing into Command WorkStation or by printing to the printer driver. Free creases can only be made perpendicular to the direction of printing and must be separated by a minimum of 1 millimeter. 1 Determine the IP address of the Fiery Server. 2 Send the job to the Hold queue. If using Command WorkStation, import the job into Command WorkStation and select Hold. If using the printer driver, select Job Info, then select Hold in the Print queue action. 3 Open Job Properties. If using Command WorkStation, select the spooled job in the Command WorkStation Job Center, then choose Properties from the Actions menu. If using the printer driver, click Properties in the Print dialog. 4 In Job Properties, specify the preferred print settings. 5 Select Finishing, then scroll down to Crease and select Free crease. A message displays if there is any reason that free creases cannot be added to the job, such as that the correct finisher is not attached, or the print settings are incompatible. 6 Launch WebTools by opening an Internet browser and entering the IP address of the Fiery Server as the URL. 7 On the Home tab, next to FreeCrease App, click Go. The Free Crease web application displays. Note: An alternative to the previous two steps is to open an Internet browser and enter the IP address of the Fiery Server followed by /freecrease. For example, 100.100.100.100/freecrease. 8 Log in as administrator. User name: admin Password: Fiery.1 9 Click to select the job from the list. This list only shows the jobs for which Free Crease has been selected in Job Properties. 10 In the Free Crease web application, select the preferred language at the upper-right corner of the web page. 11 Click to select the number of creases. You can specify a different number of creases at any time by clicking another number. The creases are added and removed from the end of the list. 12 Click mm or inch to select the measurement units. 13 Specify the location of the creases. The white area in the diagram indicates where creases can be added. To modify the location of a crease, drag the corresponding slider bar or enter a number in the text box to indicate the distance from the leading edge of the page (the left side of the diagram). The creases can be arranged in any order (they do not have to be arranged by crease number). 14 Click Print. 15 Click to select Print, Hold, Print and Delete, or Print and Hold. 16 If you want to access another job for which Free Crease has been selected in Job Properties, click the back button in the Internet browser and log into the Free Crease web application again.

Third-party finisher software interface The third-party finisher software provides a generic interface to support third-party external finishers that can be used for external finishing of proofing. It is supported by Fiery CS IC-310/Fiery CS IC-308, when connected to the Color Press 100/85. Note: For information about Fiery Color Server support for installing finishers and other installable options, see the printer driver help. Keep in mind the general workflow when using an external finisher. 1 You must set up the page order, image direction, and supported media size and weight on the Color Press 100/85. 2 Set the finishing method, such as stapling, folding or trimming, on the external finisher before printing the job. 3 Send the job to the Fiery CS with the output tray set to one of the external finishing trays, such as Stacker auto, Stacker1 sub tray, or Stacker2 sub tray. The external finisher can be customized for the following settings: SEF Restriction: Off or On. When SEF Restriction is selected, printing of pages is restricted to short edge feed (SEF). Face: Face Up or Face Down. The external finisher will reorder the face for finishing depending on the setting selected. Order: 1 to N or N to 1. The page order of the job is reordered depending on the setting selected. Output Image Top and Bot. Direction: Head Up or Head Down. The external finisher rotates the sheet pages order for finishing depending on the setting selected. Stopping Method for Tray Full: Stop Immediately or Stop after Set. When the external finisher tray is full, the printer will stop printing immediately or stop after printing a set. Output Last Page at First: Off or On. When On is selected, the external finisher or operator reorders the front sheet to the last. Reserved Job Restriction: Off or Wait. When Wait is selected, the operator will have to push the Start key on the printer to print the job. Continuous Job Permission: Off or On. When On is selected, jobs will print continuously. JAM Recovery Method: Set Recovery or Page Recovery. When there is a paper jam, the printer will either resume printing the set or page depending on the setting selected. Print from the printer driver with external finishing 1 In your application, select File > Print. 2 Select the Fiery Color Server as your printer and then click Preferences or Properties. 3 Click Finishing in the Properties dialog box. 4 Select On for the External finishing print option, and then select External finisher for the Output tray print option. Note: When Wait is selected, the operator will have to press the Start key on the printer to print the job.

Print a proof from Command WorkStation You can use Proof Print by right-clicking on a job in the Held or Printed list, or you can access the command from the Actions menu or from job actions within Job Properties and Hot Folders. 1 Start Command WorkStation. 2 Log on as the Operator or Administrator. 3 Click the Job Center tab. 4 Do one of the following: From Job Center, right-click a job in the Held list and select Properties. Click Actions > Properties. 5 In the Job Properties dialog box, click the Finishing tab, and make the following selections: Select On for the External finishing print option. Select Stacker sub tray for the Output tray print option. This tray will be used as the Proof print sub tray. 6 Click OK. Confirm that the job for proof printing is in the Held list in Job Center. 7 Do one of the following: Right-click the job in the Held list and select Proof Print. Click Actions > Proof Print. The job is printed to LS-506 sub tray. 8 Measure the paper size, thickness and so forth of the output sheet and then enter the values for the External finisher. The options you can set vary with the External finisher being used. For more information, see the documentation that accompanies the External finisher. 9 Do one of the following: From Job Center, right-click a job in the Held list and select Properties. Click Actions > Properties. 10 In the Job Properties dialog box, click the Finishing tab. 11 Scroll to Delivery option, and select External finisher for the Output tray print option. Set the print settings, such as number of copies as needed and click OK. 12 Do one of the following: Right-click the job in the Held list and select Proof Print. Click Actions > Proof Print. The job is printed to the External finisher. 13 Check the output.

14 Repeat step 7 to step 13 on page 7 until you get the expected result. For information about how to adjust the output image, such as image quality or image position, see the documentation that accompanies the External finisher. 15 Confirm that the job to be printed is selected in the Held list. 16 Do one of the following to start actual printing: Right-click the job in the Held list and select Print. Click Actions > Print. Relay Units RU-516/RU-517 are supported The Fiery Color Server supports RU-516 and RU-517, which are electricity removal units. Fiery JDF support added for Fiery ES IC-415 Fiery JDF allows submission of JDF jobs to a Fiery ES from applications that allow creation of JDF tickets. Before you can enable JDF on Fiery ES, you must activate the Productivity Package option on the Fiery ES. The administrator can go through http://help.efi.com/fip/45134966_fim_servicedoc.pdf. Use Configure to specify JDF settings and to view the Fiery JDF version, the JDF Device ID, and the JMF URL. For more information, see Command WorkStation Help. 1 From Configure, choose Job Submission > JDF Settings. 2 Select Enable JDF. 3 If a virtual printer is configured for the Fiery ES, select one from the Use Job Settings from Virtual Printer option. 4 Specify a default print queue action from Job Action. 5 Select Override JDF job with the above settings, if you want to override the settings specified in the JDF ticket. 6 Specify how you want the JDF jobs closed once they are printed. 7 Specify the items required for closing a JDF job. The items you select here must be filled out before the job can close automatically or manually. 8 Specify the network paths where the Fiery ES searches for common resources. 9 Click Save. Release Notes Using the PrintMe tab to print from Excel to PDF If using PrintMe to convert from some Excel versions to PDF, the paper size converts to a larger size than the printer can handle, and the print job is canceled. As a workaround, reduce the print size by approximately 5% and print again.

Printing from a Mac computer with unavailable fonts If a print job is sent from a Mac computer, and the font is not available on the Fiery Color Server, the job prints with a substituted font. Substitution also occurs if an unavailable font is selected using JobMaster on a Mac computer. As a workaround, ensure that any fonts required for print jobs are either embedded into the PDF or loaded onto the Fiery Color Server through Command WorkStation. Naming tabs in Command WorkStation Job Center In Command WorkStation Job Center, in the Add tab dialog, a new tab can be named beginning with a double-byte space (such as in the Japanese version of Fiery Color Server), but cannot be named beginning with a single-byte space (such as in a Roman language version). As a workaround, in Roman language versions, do not use tab names that begin with a space. Maximum length for preset names in Command WorkStation In Command WorkStation, if a preset name includes a double-byte character, the name is limited to 63 characters (instead of 64). Installing Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software to SMB shared folder If the Fiery Color Server version 2.1 software is downloaded to the SMB shared folder, the printer driver is not updated. As a result, the Crease settings cannot be saved. The version 2.1 software updates the printer driver only if downloaded by Point and Print (PNP) or WebTools. This is due to the size limit of the shared folder. As a workaround, use PNP or WebTools to download the version 2.1 software. Preset names in Command WorkStation are not case sensitive In Command WorkStation, the preset names are not case sensitive. As a result, the user cannot add a preset with a name that has the same spelling as an existing preset, even if the case is different. As a workaround, make sure that each name has a unique set of characters, independently of whether characters are upper or lower case. Using custom page sizes in Free Crease Some custom page sizes might not work correctly with the Free Crease web page. This is due to the printer driver setting an incorrect paper size if the paper size is set to Same as Document size in the Job Properties dialog of the printer driver. As a workaround, set the paper size in the Job Properties dialog in Command WorkStation. Make sure that the selected paper width is 4.73 inches or greater, and the maximum paper size is 13 inches x 19.2 inches. Free Crease does not launch in Internet Explorer 9 If Internet Explorer 9 is used to access the Free Crease page, the page does not launch. As a workaround, use Internet Explorer 10 or other browsers to access Free Crease.

Upgrading to FEA v4.3 If FEA version 4.3 is installed on a Fiery Color Server that has an earlier version of FEA installed, an error message displays and the installation does not complete. As a workaround, uninstall any existing FEA versions before installing version 4.3.
