Milestones 1970 Western Electric 1A2 Key System installed at Sterling s midtown New York City operations center. 1995 Rohm/Siemens switch installed at Long Island, New York location 2003 Fall. Evaluation of SIP technology started with Digium digital board for PRI ISDN, Asterisk software and Grandstream SIP telephones. 2004 February. Evaluation of Pingtel SIPxchange with Cisco voice enabled router and Grandstream and Cisco SIP phones. 2004 March. Selected Pingtel because of GUI interface and Cisco voice enabled router because voice quality was excellent and no echo. 2004 May. Installed system using Cisco phones connected to switches on existing LAN network for about 60 users. 2005 February. Moved Pingtel system from Midtown New York City to Financial District New York City. Using Local Number Portability, we were able to retain our existing numbers. 2005 Spring. Researched SIP termination with the assistance of Pingtel. 2005 July. Installed Siparator to connect to Backbone Communications Inc. (BBCOM) for SIP termination of IntraLATA, Intrastate, Interstate and International calls. 2006 November. Replaced Rohm/Siemens switch in Long Island, New York with Pingtel SIPxchange. 2006 November. Installed SIParator in Long Island, New York to connect to Backbone Communications Inc. (BBCOM) for SIP termination of IntraLATA, Intrastate, Interstate and International calls. 2006 December. Installed a number of support staff extensions at their homes using SIParator.

Connect Pingtel SIPxchange and Ingate SIParator to BBCOM With assistance from all three vendors, we: A. Purchased SIParator from Ingate B. Configured SIParator C. Configured SIPxchange dial plan to allow routing via access code of IntraLATA, Intrastate, Interstate and International calls to BBCOM with 911 and backup routing to Verizon. From Test to Production A. Test was successful. B. Changed dial plan to automatically route IntraLATA, Intrastate, Interstate and International calls to BBCOM with backup to Verizon. C. Implemented second location in Long Island with 70 users.
Issues Overcame A. Loss of BBCOM service. dial plan automatically routed the calls through Verizon. B. part of an area code was not working. BBCOM resolved these issues in a timely fashion. C. could not transfer an outgoing call to another internal user. Ingate enhanced SIParator software
