Your Career in IT/ICT 2018/19 Programme IT INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP STANDARD (LEVEL 3) This apprenticeship suits those candidates who would like to make a career designing, maintaining, upgrading IT systems and supporting users of IT/ICT resources. Typically, they would expect to work as part of a professional IT team in a larger organisation or for a smaller specialist IT company We will place you with a local IT company You will learn about Business Processes Cloud Services Software Development Networking Mobility and Devices On completion, apprentices are eligible to apply for listing on the British Computer Society s new professional technician register (RITTech).

Infrastructure Technician Training Programme (one day per week) Unit 1 - Networking and Architecture (or optionally, Microsoft MTA: Networking Fundamentals) Understand the use of a range of cabling and connectivity, the various types of antennas and wireless systems, and IT test equipment Understand maintenance processes and how to employ them in working practices Understand the fundamentals of computer configuration Understand the architecture of computer and business systems Understand the relevant numerical skills and the application of Binary, Octal and Hexadecimal notation Demonstrate the networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network Unit 2 - Operating Systems & Mobiles (or optionally Microsoft MTA: Mobility and device Fundamentals) Operating Systems Mobile Devices Unit 3 - Coding and Logic (or optionally, Microsoft MTA: Software Development Fundamentals) Range of programming languages - uses and benefits in different contexts Wider Programming Concepts Life cycle management Algorithms and Data Structures Web Page Development Unit 4 - Cloud Services (or optionally, MTA: Cloud Fundamentals) Cloud Deployment, Service Models and Provision Tenants Explore how to create and configure virtual machines Demonstrate how to manage secure passwords and manage user/security groups and or cloud identities DNS service records in the context of troubleshooting Enable clients for connection to a Cloud Service Cloud Based Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning

Infrastructure Technician Training Programme (one day per week) Unit 5 Business Processes This unit covers business processes relevant to IT. Fundamentals of industry standards IT security regulations and laws Health & Safety Working within Company Operating Procedures Data Protection regulations and how they impact a business and its IT systems Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) and IT Contingency Plans in a hybrid service provision environment Business IT Skills Note: All units described, are defined by the British Computer Society. All but Business Processes can be replaced with Microsoft Technology Associate units, if requested. As well as passing external examinations in all units, apprentices will compile a portfolio of activities they have carried out during the course programme both at work and in class. This portfolio will show that they can put the knowledge gained into practice. Synoptic Project All students undertake a final project designed to test the knowledge and skills they have acquired. This will take 3 5 days and will be administered by Cameo, at our training premises. Final Assessment Each apprentice will participate in a 1-2-1 interview assessment with an awarding body examiner after which, a grade will be given. Pay and Conditions Conditions will be in line with those of a standard employee. The minimum hours worked (including training) are 30 hours per week but most will be in the range 35 40 hours per week. The minimum rate is 3.70 per hour but some organisations may offer more. Typically, they would expect to work as part of a professional IT team in a larger organisation or alternatively, for a smaller specialist IT company Incorporating Two Microsoft Technology Associate Qualifications from the list below: MTA: Cloud Services MTA: Software Development Fundamentals MTA: Networking Fundamentals MTA: Web Development Fundamentals MTA: Mobility and Devices

Classroom training is one day per week This program generally runs over 12-14 months Apprentices will compile a portfolio of activities they have carried out during the programme, both at work and in class. Two units may be evidenced by passing an MTA.This portfolio will show that they can put the knowledge gained in the classroom into practice.
